Ramp Dragon is bricky but it's' not as bricky as people make it out to be. The rate of opening ramp into Hochan is actually very good if you mulligan correctly.
If you think of it as, "this deck wins every time it doesn't brick, but it bricks 1/3rd of the time" then 65% makes sense. Rather than HAVING to high roll, it's more accurate to say the low roll of the deck is very bad while the average is still very strong.

It's straight forward at the end of the day. You hard mull towards one ramp and something to play on 2 so that aggro doesn't blow you up immediately if it's a concern. You can get away with putting back additional ramp and Hochan if you need early game cards, a lot of people make the mistake of greeding for ramp when you're actually fairly likely to draw into more if you need it and when it isn't really important to double ramp to begin with.
The deck remains bricky no matter how you mulligan, but people aren't thinking about consistency under the correct terms of how it relates back to your gameplay over a series of matches and are only concerned about whether or not having a high brick rate will affect their current immediate game.

Phil is just filler in the list. I'm still seeing a lot of very aggressive decks threatening to storm damage to my face. By turn 6 or 7 I'm often still looking at situations where I need to either full clear their board, heal, or toss up wards. Zombie man was feeling like a mini-satan where he gives long run value but doesn't immediately help me answer whatever the opponent has on the board. Unless charon managed to survive the previous turn, but that's creeping into winmore territory. I generally don't have much trouble surviving to 9, so I replaced my two zombie men copies with +1 ginsetsu. Then I put Phil in as card #40 since having one extra 2 drop makes it harder to brick my turn 2 play in the mulligan, and he's a good reanimation target for charon. I currently like mino and orthus a little more though since mino makes it more consistent to generate skeleton wards, and orthus breaks aggro's back when the RNG hits right. But I'm open to reconsidering the 2 drop distribution.

If the meta slows down, I might explore using zombie man some more

It always gets lost in discussions how one of the biggest issues with Aether is that she's very often a high value, dead tempo play that has to leave threats on board. I switched to Artifacts at the start of the set, got dumpstered, went back to my Storm Haven without changing a single card from the first set since I didn't pull anything and started winning again.

People seriously underestimate how much skill expression is involved in this game, how hard it is to pick up new decks if you're starting out at a higher rating, and how much comfort matters in your deck selection. I think a lot of the cases of people losing this set after being fine last set is the same situation as me where they changed decks and completely underestimated how much learning there was to do. Tiers are real and your deck matters, but it really doesn't matter nearly as much as your ability to pilot it right now. Tiers simply aren't very far apart right now.

Dragon hard counters ward haven
Your main wincon is obviously aether but dragon wipes the floor with her, the deck plays 8-9 cards that instantly delete your entire board and only filene requires an evo (or some combo like apollo)
You can steal wins with lapis or a very strong curve sometimes (willem is a good card vs dragon) but overall the matchup is massively dragon-favored

Rune is pretty much the same as dragon but less extreme because it plays less board wipes but still usually enough to beat aether. There's a good chance you instantly lose on turn 10

I'm cautiously optimistic about dirt but I don't trust that top list at all. The guy is a streamer but he doesn't stream his dirt run at all and he's always on other decks when he's broadcasting. I really suspect he's faking his performance with it for traffic while actually piloting meta net decks.
