Okay so, back in season 3, they made a joke about Buford inexplicably having life-sized molds of everyone.

Now, many years later, the show got revived for 2 more seasons, and in one of the episodes, they reveal he uses the molds to make suits of everyone in Danville.

Am I the only one continuously surprised at how much people care about the lore and characterization in this series? It has never ever been consistent, always having different writers with different interpretations. I'm confused as to how people think there's a specific Sonic, when sonic has been ever changing post Heroes. Arguably, Sonic Heroes is antithetical to the whole Windic debate. Then there's a Amy, who hasn't been characterized correctly since Sonic 06. Almost 20 years ago now. I think there's a point where you just have to let it go, I don't know how the fan base does this every single day. Every day on here and on Twitter it's the same exact thing, the same talking points, the same examples. How are people not fed up from doing the same thing and having the same arguments every single day. It's crazy to me and screams mental illness.

That's an easy one. Sonic wouldn't ever team up with a team like that throughout an entire adventure that focuses on an Eggman scheme. There's the whole thing about team work, when Japanese Sonic wasn't originally designed to be someone who's specifically a teamplayer. So sonic yapping about being Sonic Heroes!!!!! And the true superpower of team work is out of character for a character that's quiet most of the time.

For example in Sonic Adventure, Sonic and Tails split up when Sonic tells him to evacuate the Egg Carrier while he goes to confront Chaos 6. He falls into the Mystic Ruins and makes a B-Line for Final Egg. If that were Sonic Heroes Sonic, he'd go straight to Station Square instead, and pick up Tails, because "we can make it of we all stick together". Team Sonic's theme of We Can is about how they can only make it if they all stick together.

It's antithetical to Sonic as a character. Sonic Heroes Sonic is one of his worst interpretations.

Sonic is a free spirit, so he does his own thing and goes his own way. But he's not against teamwork or working with others. The theme of Sonic Adventure is "Open Your Heart", which is how the Chaos Emeralds power works through Super Sonic. Sonic embodies that principle of trusting in others and opening your heart to them, which is what fuels his own Super Sonic transformation and thus is the exact lesson he personally teaches to Perfect Chaos during that boss fight. In Sonic Rush, Sonic teaches this exact same lesson to Blaze the Cat, literally embodying the concept of "Friendship is Magic" so this antisocial purple princess can learn how to actually harness her own Emeralds' power.

Therefor, the core thesis of Sonic Heroes is 100% perfectly in line with Sonic's character as he is established by that point in the series. The value of friendship and teamwork is a lesson Sonic already knows and embodies, and then passes on to others.

False. The entire point of her story in Sonic Adventure is specifically changing that narrative and asserting herself as a strong & independent woman.

But the point THERE is that she asserts herself as a strong independent woman who also passionately loves Sonic, and so her motivation from there on is to get Sonic to respect her, so she can prove herself as a capable ally to him and thus be part of his exciting life without being a burden on him. Most people miss this entirely, as they somehow get the impression that Amy's story should have ended with her putting her love for Sonic aside entirely, which is just complete nonsense.

Sonic Heroes puts all of this on full display throughout the entirety of Team Rose's story... but practically everyone who played it was too media illiterate to see past their impression that she was just being some psycho stalker or some nonsense.

No, that was always part of Tails' base character. Ian's script for Frontiers made me realize that I hate "character development", at least in the way that script does it. It takes a character who is know for being something, and decides to turn it into something completely different, then looks for excuses to justify this change and call it "growth". Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 do not do this at all. They take the characters and show how they react to different situations that challenge them. The way Tails reacts is nothing more than a natural extension of his base character, it takes Tails and puts him in a different scenario to show how his existing character behaves. What you want is to take the characters, turn them into something completely different, and then make up nonsense to justify the change. It's not a natural evolution of who the characters are, it's forced OOC garbage

"Power-type" exists purely because of Knuckles the Echidna specifically, and Amy is Speed-type. If she had her own type, it would preferably center around her actual core "ability" of love, heart or mystic stuff.

Beyond that... Sonic, Tails, Amy & Knuckles are the Core 4. Tails and Amy both follow Sonic everywhere most of the time, and Knuckles is a rival with his own separate thing going on but is still a core character in the series and Sonic's adventures none-the-less. Amy and Knuckles do not impede on each other's roles or presence at all, and neither of them impede or conflict with Tails' either. They each have separate, distinct roles each tying them to Sonic in unique ways that cements them as the core pillars of the series around him that aren't just copies of Sonic but black or white.

??? This is not what Open Your Heart is about at all. And your read on Super Sonic on Adventure is completely wrong. The reason why the Chaos Emeralds reacted the way they do is because Sonic essentially became the embodiment of hope. The entire city and the other characters are cheering him on and it's their hope in him that returns the positive energy to the Emeralds. There's nothing about friendship here. Sonic doesn't even know 99% of the people cheering him on. There was no team work here, just people blindly putting their hopes on Sonic. He cleans house, then leaves without a word. THATS Sonic.

Sonic Rush Sonic is a poor interpretation of him as well. Sonic wasting his time trying to get someone to see things his way is completely contradictory to his theme song It Doesn't Matter. It's Sonic's way or the highway and he isn't going to waste time trying to imprint his beliefs on others. Sonic Rush is basically the video game version of IDW #50. Everything wrong about that issue is also present within Sonic Rush.

Well, aside from Amy technically, being Girl Sonic is essentially it's own "Mirror", but it's also just as distinct as Tails and Knuckles are at the same time by its very nature. As a result of that, I'd say despite what Ian intended for her, Surge is also more on the Tails/Amy/Knuckles side of this than the Shadow/Silver/Metal Sonic side, since being an Evil GIRL Sonic creates that degree of separation preventing her from actually being a Sonic clone.

Amy isn't as strong as Knuckles in the first place, people who say that don't know who or what Knuckles is.

Knuckles is as strong as Sonic is fast. Sonic's speed = The Flash, he IS Speed PERFECTED. Meaning, Knuckles "is" POWER. Knuckles' strength is supposed to be absolute as Superrman, One Punch Man, etc. But we don't see that often enough, so people really undersell Knuckles' strength and believe ludicrous nonsense like Shadow being stronger than him. And so Amy displaying any ounce of super strength herself leads to that same ridiculous conclusion.

But regardless, Amy herself being super strong isn't a problem itself, either. Honestly, the way I think of Amy's general power level is like... averaging out between Sonic & Knuckles. If Sonic's Speed = Knuckles' Power and vise versa (Sonic's Power = Knuckles' Speed), I'd say Amy's Speed > Knuckles' Speed, and Amy's Power > Sonic's Power. But, Sonic's Speed > Amy's Speed, and Knuckles' Power > Amy's Power.

If Sonic's actions create "chaos", then Knuckles is the one who has to clean it up. There, all of Knuckles' problems are solved.
