Pic rel is a character from a fucking LN, the very thing that heavily inspired CS, and this is one aspect of his character arc that gets addressed early on and resolved, and it is done like 10x better than how CS did it Rean.
To recapitulate, the problem is how repetitive this is. Yeah they could have made this Rean's one thing and built around it. But they beat him over the head with the answer over and over and in perfectly reasonable moments to have this resolved it just doesn't get resolved. Nothing in CS necessitates it being 5 games long.

Kai is the opposite, Van was constantly reminiscing about his past mistakes and him always running away while Agnes had already decided to do what needs to be done. If kuro 2 didn't exist and was incorporated into Kai I'm 100% people wouldn't shit on Calvard like this.
Kai is just a prologue to what will be Van's final episode and the final arc.

Chink port of Kai is serviceable, but durante's ports just offer way more options and improvements especially for high end rigs. The loading times are also way better due to memory cash
