you have easy to use tools that let you do basically everything, and pokemon games follow a very barebones formula of 8 badges with few story beats, so they're much more flexible and easier to work with as far as romhacking goes. compare that with digimon dawn/dusk which has a fixed story with grimmon as a villain wreaking havoc all over the place, a guild you join, and a group of friends who have history with the protag. in these cases any hacks beyond surface level changes like roster additions would be much more involved

The idea that this means that their partners are not "on their side" is contrived in itself and Minoru, whose relationship with Falcomon was always pretty chill and definitely not abusive had very little reason to flip out like that.
And Falcomon who is generally portrayed as mature and level-headed can't recognize that his partner is just having a moment panic and that he shouldn't take the outburst personally, but suddenly he can't so the scenario ends up with both characters involved acting completely stupid and at the end of the chapter they ...just get over it.
And the story may act like those characters recognizing something completely obvious is "substantial character growth" but the reader doesn't have to just accept that.

Ride Digimon are literally just for aesthetics not terrain traversal. But Digimon does the Pokemon thing of a specific Digimon helping you traverse stuff like Palmon swinging on the vines and the Whamon summon.

The design of a flying dragon with weapons as hands is already unmatched, I'm fine with it just changing color so you keep your cool monster but now he's stronger. I've always thought the same about Meramon, he should get an ultimate stage that is just white fire or something called NovaMeramon or Star Meramon, after 20 years having the orange flame man evolve into blue flame man, I wouldn't want his ultimate to change the design besides color.

I didnt like Alysion at first but once I understood what it was, it grew on me. Excited for the full release. Part of that was homebrewing my own decks though so it'll depend on how restricting the meta is I guess.
