4chan always was contrarian and counter cultural place. Not anti-establishment, but contrarian and counter cultural, which is against status quo and is a heavy double edged sword. As logic goes, contrarians most of the time are more or less like the sheep themselves. Most of them gather in masses and act like they are opposing force just to be opposition even if it makes no sense at all. /v/ always was retarded blob that always contradicted itself and since this is 4chan, you cannot take things here for granted, you have to do your own research and learn to sift grain from the chaff.
