Boy, shit is crazy. There is little anyone can say without spoiling the game. A simple synopsis would be: this is a world of twisted fairy tales. Your character is an Undead who still holds light in his eyes and vitality rather than being some mindless rotting zombie (hence the soulslike immortality).
The thing is that everything is twisted up. The world is turning into monsters called Demonbeasts. Your imprisoned character is rescued at the start by Jeanne D'Arc and so starts your adventure.
Now the reason I was so vague is that Black Souls gives you a lot of freedom, and consequences, for your actions. The world is moving just as you are. As it's told early in the game: this world is fucked, it's your choice if you wanna be some juste knight. You can kill whoever you dislike and take by force any woman that refuses you. True to that: the game gives you an option to KILL nearly all NPCs and an additional one to RAPE nearly all women.
There is a huge overarching plot that gets deeper the more to progress but due to how everything branches anything I can say further will be a spoiler. The first run of the game HAS to be blind. Because that teaches you how big the consequences of what you do, or don't do, cause.

It's a hentai game homage to Dark Souls, made almost entirely by one guy in RPG maker. The story is told basically through lore and tidbits, kinda like how Dark Souls is, and the lore is Alice in Wonderland, which also blurs the real life aspect of the people related to Lewis Carroll with the characters in the book as well as other Fairy Tales. As the other anon mentioned, there is a lot of raping and killing. It's fucked up, but it's like "vanilla" levels of fucked up. The art is terrible, but it grows on you very quickly and becomes rather charming and helps to sell the setting of the game.

Black Souls 1 is really rough around the edges compared to Black Souls 2, but they're both good.

For that you would need explanation of how Valhalla actually works which we still didn't get. Kind of depends. The ''setting'' of the vision was really well-developed, with the Older Brother's role, hobbies and daily life.
Edda only properly learns about humanity, and in turn becomes human-like, way later. She shouldn't be capable of making a scenario that detailed by herself until then. And the scenario's purpose is so she can bridge this gap and learn better of the Adjutant.
So I think the Older Brother is still canon, just that just like the Younger Sister, both siblings are now chilling out in Valhalla with an illusion of a loving mother, while Edda took their details for her purposes.

From what I understand: Edda has been trying to fulfill her salvation purpose but she doesn't properly understand mankind yet. Adjutant (as revealed now) was sent to the Space Station to verify her after she went rogue, but knowing the dangers an AI could cause, he took the necessary measures to erase important data of his own memory for the two-folded purpose of hiding it from Edda and fooling her into believing there is some last resort of ultimate importance in Acropolis' library of normal books so Edda wouldn't destroy the library and this could at very least buy them time to learn how to deal with her.
Edda still implanted an Empathetic Ganglia in the Adjutant which downloads into him the memories of Tau's son and allows her to communicate directly with the Adjutant. This also changes his personality to be more like the Older Brother, who is more emotional and cares about Edda.
But before we could do anything about that, a machine that can spawn titans was stolen and so they had to send Adjutant to investigate which causes most of the worldbuilding in the early chapters as you go there from faction to faction questioning and fighting them for it.
