There's the argument that Nintendo go for a stylised look in order to better suit the console limitations and while this is mostly true, they have some wizards on board.
Zelda, Xenoblade, DK all look great.
Sonic however has been exporting the same models from game to game for possibly the last decade, and just because you have the better engine, means squat if you're lazy with it.
