Monetization of video games can be
1) A box price
2) A subscription service
3) Microtransactions

Ideally, a game should only have one. I can understand holding your nose on some game that have two. But if you play a game that has all three, you have no self-respect (and judging by the typical game that has all three, the devs typically don't respect you either)

Of course, there is a fourth form of monetization in the form of some kind of gambling mechanic, with "gacha" systems being particularly popular. It should go without saying that this is the very lowest form of monetization, no self-respecting person plays games with gambling systems in them, and those that do have even less respect than the "all three" category mentioned above.

Video games would legitimately be so much better if people had just a modicum of self-respect and didn't allow themselves to be milked and conned.
