I've been thinking of suicide regularly lately and I like to imagine my favorite Sonic character at the end of the tunnel. I like to pretend maybe there's a better life for me where I can be happy with what brings me peace and love. My favorite Sonic character makes me feel peace and love, but I can't share it with anybody, not even online. This world isn't for me, and I try to escape that by living through my favorite Sonic character. It would be nice to wake up and realize this was all a dream, and I'm finally safe and loved.

Finished playing Sonic and the Falling Star, I'm not sure if I loved it enough to try to get all the emeralds but pretty good fangame. Some platforming segments really made me angry, shades of Knuckles Chaotix overly-vertical level design.

The fucked up thing about Mario is the single best written game BY FAR has no credited writer.

We can try to go back to the previous game that had very similar writing, TTYD, and there we find Hironobu Suzuki as script supervisor, who is just credited as a manager on SPM, and Misao Fukuda as script writer, who is a complete mystery? They're not credited on any other games except, somehow, Clock Tower 3? Maybe they got married and changed their name or left the industry outright?

Strange fates for people who some might call Mario's answer to Maekawa.

Here is my idea for a Sonic story basically be the equivalent of a 10 minute episode.


Title: Fight and Subscribe

introducing herself, attempts to get a selfie with Sonic, though he couldn’t be more
disinterested, especially since she doesn’t seem to respect his personal space.

busy talking with the other city folk and generally being the cool, affable guy he is. Amy
attempts to speak with Glitterheart a few times, but she’s blown off.

with her, which he refuses. Sonic and Amy continue to party while Amber states that
she’s going to make Sonic pay for refusing her.
>Amber threatens that if Sonic doesn’t collaborate with her, she’ll level the city. When
Sonic asks how she plans to do that, she doesn’t answer, showing that she didn’t really
have a plan for this, but attacks Sonic and Amy anyway, wrecking a bit of the party in the
process, and showing off her own wind-based powers.
>Amber manages to match Sonic and Amy blow for blow, it’s a fairly even matchup, until
Amy calls out to her that her numbers are skyrocketing, which distracts her long enough
for Sonic to incapacitate her.
>Amber is taken off by the authorities, though she seems quite satisfied by the massive
boost to her metrics. Sonic and Amy decide to assist in the cleanup from their fight and
enjoy what’s left of the party

Every time I see the Mario and Luigi Brothership trailer I keep thinking how cool it would be if we just got a Sonic game with Sonic and Tails and focuses on a whole host of new characters.

It is kind of insane how This franchise hates an installment having a bunch of one shots.

1. It's "unstoppable force meets immovable object".
2. This actually applies more to Sonic and Knuckles.
3. Aside from the "mistaken identity" at the start, Sonic is so totally fucking irrelevant to SA2's story that it's almost comedic. You could replace his levels with Amy or Blaze or even Tails running around and very little would change.

There's nothing about most of the Mario RPG settings that make them particularly "Marioish", in fact that's their strong point. They all could just as easily be Sonic games but they're not because Sonic has a major talent crisis and people who made good Sonic games like Unleashed ended up working at Nintendo on games like Odyssey or BotW.

People liked the DC crossover outside of here, not really much here. I genuinely like the comics and I didn't like DC either, it was pretty bland crossoverslop. But the masses love crossoverslop so it got pretty decent reception. Anyway, there's just not much to talk about recently since the Phantom Rider arc ended last year and the whole Lanolin drama resolved itself within the first two months. We've been in the filler arc zone after basically, with the exception of an incredibly mid "final battle" between Whisper and Mimic. There's a new arc starting next month and it features No Pronouns the jester (Gigi was saying Lunar has no pronouns, not even they/them, really), so I expect drama and actual story discussion to kick off again.

As for me, I usually put it in the character folder that has less pictures on my pc or put it in the one with more anyway if I am lazy. I'm just spitballing here but this is the issue I see with modern x-lennial writers and artists' comics. They are going increasingly in the direction of nada. So many stories feel underwhelming or move at a snails pace that they actually have less drama and intrigue than some porn comics.

Seemingly. The Lanolin divorce issue (76) is also at this level of fan slop. It's mainly just therapy speak and features a grand total of two good things with Jewel and Lanolin apologizing. But it's also immediately ruined by Tangle and Whisper not just not taking no accountability for their myriad of fuck-ups but also learning absolutely nothing from it. They took a classic trope that's very easy to follow and effective into "Character fans disliked on social media 100% wrong, character fans like 100% right" and even the narrative began acting as if they had performed perfectly. They're then rewarded with the easiest win over Mimic imaginable 3 issues down the line with no moral being told or struggle being fought. This direction was inevitable.

Flynn wrote two Archie stories that have similar beats to Shadow Generations.

One was Archie Shadow using Nicole to talk for one final time with Gerald and Maria inside a disk, but the disk was corrupted. Archie Shadow was very OOC compared to game Shadow (usually I blame Flynn only, but this time I blame Yardley too for drawing Shadow as a overly emotional crybaby).

Again, this is such an issue in the modern media landscape. If we're to believe in SEGA's nannying, I wouldn't put the full blame on the writers and artists because restrictions means you're forced to think inside the box. A lot of great stories and shows arose from people just doing whatever they wanted.

That said, they dug themselves into that hole by believing that can't go wilder with the story. Aiming for middle of the road is probably the worst thing for stories. It's ok to jam and then come to a compromise for wider appeal. The by the books no drama therapy session and mimic defeat is indicative of a team not committed to their work as creatives or the IP. But yes, you can't negate the influence of the actual creators, even if they're just creative grunts. It's pertinent to acknowledge it whether you're super progressive with a budget of $2.57 to create a full comic or an optimistic studio exec throwing millions to creatives and give them free rein.

The way I see it, they are given a tough task. Do something new and exciting with a fossilized Sonic as a great supplement to the franchise.
But on the other hand, they also can't cut it as modern creatives. I'm not even sure what the new requirements for success are. I just keep thinking back to comedians whose jobs are much harder now that everyone gets offended and you have to deal with potentially getting cancelled. The stakes are not as high but they're still restricted which makes the process more like writing to a criteria than the kind of vomiting of creative material artists spew out after being inspired.

I think instead of being stuck in creative limbo as a bunch of perverted decrepit geriatric millennials, they should take a leaf from the children's comics creator's handbook. They have to do something enjoyable despite being for all ages.

On the other side of the coin, SEGA is retarded. I think they shrunk back into their shell after their out there ideas in games got criticized. But they don't seem to understand that in a game, a cookie cutter story is fine because the fun comes from the agency of the player and the flavor from the art and music. Most stories need drama of some sort. I'm not saying there's nothing that happens in IDW but the looming presence of SEGA censors has to negatively impact their creativity.

You're absolutely correct. Sonic 06 in truth is pretty much a mediocre early 7th gen game that has some jank to it, which is expected. In a lot of way, it closely mirrors Super Mario Sunshine.
However, Sonic 06 was demonized due to being the final straw for Genesis era fans. They were tired of how Sega how was no longer appealing towards them since SA1, which that frustration grew more and more until it outright exploded with Sonic 06. Which sucks, but it's understandable to a extent. I do wonder if Genesis era fans feel guilty for causing one of the worst decades for the Sonic franchise.

Lost World isn't a bad game, but it's objectively a bad Modern Sonic game. It throws out everything people like about Modern Sonic in favor for trying to imitate Sonic X-treme and the Mario franchise.
