>Isn't it interesting how you can insult anyone who has ever written for the Sonic series with no objections
Other than Pontac and Graff, whose stories weren't even liked to begin with, I have yet to see anyone insulting or disliking previous writers of the Sonic games. Maybe Iizuka, and even then I feel he is insulted more for his decisions with the franchise than his writing per se.

I don't want to work for Sega or Sonic Team and like his work just fine. Don't confuse me with you.

I recall Flynn mentioning on his podcast that Sonic struggles with deconstruction because the franchise lacks a consistent identity to subvert. The 2000s era embodies this perfectly - it was like the Amazing Digital Circus, where some rogue creative AI kept stress-testing the brand with increasingly unhinged experiments. I know you're tired of hearing this comparison, but the chaotic "throw everything at the wall" energy matches perfectly.
"Flynn’s attempts to deconstruct Sonic are fascinating precisely because the franchise resists it. Take his Batman-esque exploration of why Sonic never kills Eggman, or how Starline literally recognizes the ‘Sonic Cycle’—the meme-made-flesh of Eggman’s endless schemes meeting Sonic’s rote heroics. By the end, Starline’s self-awareness bordered on meta-textual horror: did he realize he was just a comic character? Maybe that revelation is what finally shattered him.
