Alright. There's a few branches that needed me to do this first, so here we are. Blacksmith's Workshop made, now to make it work. I had thought about moving back into the mountain, but at the moment I believe it would be helpful to have my gardens with the sky visible. I'll keep it in mind and depending what I need room wise for other things I might make a bridge to the cliff and dig in. It mentioned hammers/excavators "pre-smeltery" with this workshop. Would be nice.

Aaaaand I'm back to needing to go out for iron... Kinda. For pure logging, these bonsais are total shit. Swapped over to rubber saplings and they're doin' numbers on "fruit". Same chance as sticks and I'd normally have to wait a while to tap this tree again. There were a few ironwood trees over near that wagon I stole my bed from. With some finagling, I have a renewable source of iron with some elbow grease. I think. I'll report back in a bit.

Just about done wrapping up my Fallout/Wasteland loot and shoot style modpack, might remove a couple of the extra create addons, any QOL or performance mods I should include? also looking for anything that adds fun loot to dungeon chests without adding full on structures like the tarot card or ring mods, the cities can pull from generic loot tables already

Couldn't find a good mod for power armor, Scorched Gun 2 does add gas masks and some Jinroh looking armor though

For some reason Create: Nuclear didn't include a dedicated nuke and the other Nuke mod addon for create looks like baby's first mod

There's another one for use with big cannon's but it requires Alex's Caves as a dependency which uh, I don't want to fuck with

Okay. It's slow going, but I went and grabbed more saplings from a few more ironwood trees down south of the meteor impact. I've made my first ingot from squashing ironberries. I'm up to 5 bonsais of them now. Also made the squeezer so I can 1.75x the ore I've been saving. We'll see how long this lasts.

I've gotten up to seven ironwood bonsais now. I'm inching towards a tenth ingot. I'm torn between an Iron Pickaxe or a Hopper. I'm not sure if a hopper will work on a Bonsai the way I would expect, or if the way I expect would NEED the hopper variant. On the Iron Pickaxe side, I could finally go looking for redstone/diamonds.

B) has it's own special path for making weapons that only works on the alt world gen method

believe me i want to have a working fatman in the pack but i'd have to fully extract the files and update crafting recipes to work

for the nuke issue there isn't any good mod for it in 1.20.1, either it's a mid tier craft and would leave you unsatisfied or its the Alex's Cave's path, which you might as well just install that with The Lost Cities and not deal with all the create nonsense, like it's the kind of thing that screws up a world not something the majority of single player survival sessions are going to choose to get to

tried chest buffers but they didn't work like i thought they would and set a limit for EVERYTHING that passes into them, ender io limited item filters work ok but are seriously slot limited so i'd need a tonne of machines and only one would work at a time

enderio has a "existing item" filter where you can stick items in an inventory (1 copy of each in a disconnected chest) then shift-rightclick it to set the filter from the inventory.

Really didn't like Liminal Industries as a techpack. The world is very well designed and the basic ideas are also very good, which is part of why I suspect it is so popular: most people only engage with the beginning of modpacks and never make it into the later sections. The other reason it is popular is, of course, because of Create.

Which would be fine, but there is barely even any Create in the modpack. Instead it is a bloated mess that forces you to use Immersive Engineering, Botania, Eidolon, Tinker's, Thermal Dynamics and of course AE2. It also includes Mekanism and a bunch of smaller mods for extra recipe list bloat.

Aside from me being unable to decide which mod addition I hate more, Botania or Eidolon, none of them are particularly well integrated. Even the Create addons have been added carelessly, e.g. the low-heated burner has been altered in functionality but the in-game description still states otherwise.

The modpack tells you early on to automate as much as possible or you will regret it, but there simply is no reason to. Every step in progression takes you to a new mod or ingredient that doesn't rely on automation, in fact you would be an idiot to automate anything past basic resource creation.

Really, really bad techmod design in action. Kill all YouTubers.

I think it starts to really fall apart once you're at the point you want to automate gold production. The method it tries to steer you in involves automating the fucking Eidolon crucible of all things (complete dogshit and worse than simply producing tuff for nuggets(also requires you to implement botania into production)), along with things like making lead dust forcing ridiculous contraptions for mass harvesting wallpaper (fucking ugly).

Eidolon would be fine remaining in the pack as a big progression gate type of mod that was only meant for one-time complex crafts, but automating that shouldn't even be on the table.

I've made the Iron Pickaxe. I've spammed the cotton and made the sleeping bag. I neither expected it to have durability nor the ability to set it as a spawn point. Kinda neat. I've climbed the tops of the mountain to the north seeing if I can net some quick resources from where I hadn't had a look yet. Then I realized that iron only happens below sea level here. Then I went, ok, I should go down and get some of the next tier of stuff I couldn't get with the copper pickaxe and had left behind anyway. I'll go do that and then maybe do some branch mining for a bit of redstone. Using JEI to double check where I should be poking... I stumble onto this shit. I can just go DIG OUT A MOUNTAIN and get shiny shit from plain rocks. Alright, I can stop playing now. 10/10. Seriously though, neat touch. The search continues, but I'll keep this in my back pocket for later.

I did and then it started annoying me after I got gold MA crops. Automating things with Create is usually a big turn off because the logistics are cancerous. I know Create 6 made things a lot better with the chain conveyors and stockers, but I just don't want to bother.

Alright. My copper for chaff picks has run dry. I've finished some exploratory tunnels for redstone and decided on an initial direction. I did get a single redstone to pop out of a soapstone but wasn't quick enough for a screenshot. I'd already scored some, but it was nice to see it actually happen after realizing it's a thing. Hit a single diamond vein and hadn't been asked by the book to use one yet so I'm ahead there now. I stopped here and sealed myself off because I got my first blood moon notification. At this point in typing I'm hearing explosions. They sound like they're getting closer. I'll report back soon.

I'm fairly certain my mining trip saved my base from being blown into orbit by whatever the hell was spawning near me. I don't know what it was, but once morning hit the explosions ceased and I finished the first two (one down, one back) corridors. I can squeeze stomp these iron ore and I have around a stack of ingots. I should be able to ride that out for a bit while I expand the ironwood farm. I'll make one hopper to test a bonsai with. Results of that test will determine which form the farm takes. I'll begin that work tomorrow.

Terrafirmagreg is really good, the pack only commits a few mistakes. It's also being pretty actively developed to alleviate some of its downfalls. The biggest hurdle in the pack is getting Kaolin Clay, which spawns very very far away and you need quite the significant amount of it. Mining is a bit weird to get used to and sometimes you will have to walk quite far for it. The pack features Greate, which is fine, but I honestly wish it would feature more Create and less GregTech. GT is just really boring at this point. Steam Age into LV transition is great, but MV to EV could be consolidated into a single tier. They added some unique buildings for the late game though, which is cool if you ever get there.

The problem is that it steers you into trying to jerry-rig a Create deploying system to automate the crucible for gold production, which is not only dogshit but especially retarded when you realize a tuff setup is both much more well designed (Botania actually is designed with some automation in mind), unlike the fucking mod mechanic that requires dropping loose items that sit in a block until a variable timer advances the recipe, and god fucking forbid there's any more steps beyond that.

Eidolon does a fine job in the pack for the purpose of major progression like the summoning gating mobs (and by extension blaze burners), but trying to put the square peg in the round hole that is automating the Crucible is absolute unwashed ass of a concept.
