Still sort of confused about what "the standard" workflow might look like then. I was trying
A. Import model and all clothes to Blender, sculpt, fit clothes, merge armatures, export, move to unity
But then I realized maybe it would be easier to do:
B. Sculpt/edit all individual clothing items to fit base model in blender but leave them separate from model, import model directly from booth into unity so it works with no issues, and put prefit clothes on there

CATS main purpose is adding buttons that make shit easier, and you can do without it. The original creator of CATS is very likely dead, and considering their entire personality was HRT it makes sense. Some people think PCVR would be doing well/better without the emergence of standalone, a few years ago maybe but I don't agree anymore. Outside of VRChat, PCVR software growth was already slowing and beginning to stagnate during this period despite the influx of PCVR capable Quest headsets. Either way standalone success did harm PCVR by shifting existing developer priorities onto quest ports, that much is undeniable. It resulted in Onward getting downgraded and lengthy periods with no updates or bugfixes to other PCVR titles.

Then there's the obvious consequences of standalone making VR much more accessible; Multiplayer games that need to be crossplatform to maintain a playerbase are all inevitably filled with children. Developers that need high sales have to target the largest market, which still includes supporting 5 year old mobile hardware in the Quest 2, imposing severe limits on game design and visual quality. Standards for standalone slop are also a lot lower than what the older and more discriminating audience here want from their games, much of it truly is slop.

Ultimately this is a hobby we've invested a lot of time and money into. Seeing it fail to meet the hype or expectations we had in the past is disappointing so there's a lot of negativity regardless. Quest is an easy and sometimes justified target for it.

Compression artifacts are manageable if you go over 200 mbps for h264, which means using 6e wifi or usb to ethernet adapter. At 200 mbps or less the track is a bit blurry and it is difficult to use track textures as reference points for driving. To me at least 350 mbps is needed to see the track textures correctly at high speed. You can use oculus debug tool or any other stream app to manually set the bitrate.

Despite all the janky controls, abysmal performance, rendering bugs and frequent crashes this stuff is super immersive.

No Into the Radius?
For platforming, No More Rainbows is an easy rec. Gorilla tag movement through hub levels with lots of challenges and time trials. Since it's singleplayer you get to enjoy that unique VR movement without underage screechers everywhere. It'll make you very sweaty just like GT and getting the max rating for each stage is not easy despite looking like a kiddie game.
For co-op fps Crossfire Sierra Squad is underrated and perfect for 2 people. It feels more like an arcade game converted to a VR game but it's not on Quest so the asset quality is remains high for VR. Short, intense action with light-gun style distinct enemy types and a weapon unlock/customization system. It has a realism mode if you don't like the bullet sponges too.
Maybe Hyperdash. I would still recommend it because it's F2P and occasionally gets played here.

Godot's VR support (and the rest of the engine) is actually pretty good these days. https://godotvr.github.io/godot-xr-tools/ gives you joystick movement, jumping, climbing, pickups, holsters, and 2d UI lasers out of the box. If you're used to unity's way of doing things, godot will grate a bit at first, but it's pretty capable and improves on other engines in a few ways (no more waiting for the Domain to Reload™). Overall, it's about an 80% less hostile environment than trying to develop multiplayer udon games, FWIW.

Katakana is easy since it just represents sounds, so it's usually foreign words. Hiragana is "actual Japanese" stuff. So seeing a sentences go from Hiragana, Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji Kanji you start to understand the flow of words introducing ideas, pronouns, etc.

There's no reason to take something that you've already written out in kana, and have to pick which of the homonyms is the correct kanji from the list instead of just using spaces to denote the word breaks instead, with the only real benefit being that conjugations are more obvious since they're kana attached to the end of a kanji, but even those are instantly recognizable in the same way that -ed and -ing are to anyone who's read English for any real length of time. There's very much a reason that Japan is stealing more and more English words, transliterating them to katakana, and just using them as is these days instead of making up new kanji.
