I think part of the problem is that some of the early abilities are just fucking bad and unusable. Like with Quarterstaff for example, all of the abilities felt super dog shit to use outside of maybe tempest bell+tempest flurry for bosses. Only once you get the skill level 7 gems like Storm Wave does it feel good to level with Quarterstaff.
The balancing on these early levelling skills are fucked, it's like they are designed to be used with skills that are completely inaccessible at that point in the game like Falling Thunder.
Meanwhile Contagion is great for levelling since not only does it not need much to function but it is one of the few skills early on that can actually kill shit effectively.

i just stood near the pillar that was chanelling leeching ray and life flask-ed through it. maybe instant heal + increased life recvery helps.
The biggest problem for me was the last phase where he spams screenwide cold aoe, which hides green degen on the ground, so you get double-tapped, by both. i know that you're supposed to teleport to the other side, but the potals are not clickable, you have to WAIT near them, hoping they will port you away, meanwhile boss can instakill you with his screenwide death ray + screenwide aoe + degen bombs that land on you. Loot is fucking abysmal, there's like 1% to get the jewel and everything else is trash.
Absolute shit boss fight made by player-hating colorblind kiwi imbeciles. You either play meta and one shot this travesty with LA+LR or fucking suffer.

I think my biggest issue is how so many skills and builds are very clearly and obviously balanced around end game.

Now I'm not saying that shouldn't be a factor, it definitely should. But playing certain skills that are insanely powerful end game with 90+ passives and top tier gear feel like complete shit early game.
Warrior for instance - you're forced to level with Stun Priming. They're the only class that have to make use of this mechanic (if you play as Mace). The only one. And because of that, the skills you can use are extremely limited. You don't want to do too much damage because then you hop over the stun mechanic entirely, which means killing more efficiently causes a loss in clear speed and damage per second because you need to pop those enemies with Boneshatter specifically because they have no really good AOE early on that has no bizarre forced mechanical interaction with something else, combined with the fact they're so slow early on (and even end game without god tier gear), you're forced into very specific build styles and skill types if you want to be competitive with other classes and playstyles, while still never being better than any of them.

On the other hand, with .3 (this was not possible before .3) you can get Viper Cap with 5 Surrounded mod, stack all the surrounded passives on the tree that have movement speed and attack speed, get yourself a Nettle Ant with Haste and get several div worth of attack speed and movement spear gear and you can finally move as fast as a Deadeye and screenpop. This is what I am currently doing.
But it's cost me dozens of divs and hours of crafting to get to this point. And now that people understand what to do with Vipercap, it's gotten exponentially more expensive so most Warriors will never feel this.

how do I filter items for trade? seems like I should never ever pick up any armor/weapon to ID, just blast maps and pick up currency, yes? I just reached t15 and feels like im spending too much time in hideout IDing items that are at most worth 1ex.

Before with cruel difficulty it made a bit of sense with your character getting knocked out as the cataclysm happens before waking up in the temple. Nice and simple transition between the end of the campaign and maps. But now with these interlude levels you spend quite some time gathering an army to fight chaos, only to get what is basically a Spongebob tier transition slide skipping the entirety of the fighting with your side losing in the end. Your character basically says "well that just happened" before you start mapping.

Hey man idk if you're still there but I have a leveled warrior and I'm testing whatever random builds.
I gave CC a try but the CB part of it seems to do no damage. The build seems to be a regular slammer with corpse explode. Not to mention that if you want to actually do DoT damage you have to apply all 10 stacks of CB and that takes ages. I gave the lineage gem a try for faster application but it, no joke, instakills you in one Warcry.

new essences are neat and mean you can get mandatory stat-stick +gem level gear even solo, but I wish they'd just fucking increase the damage of all skills at lvl 20 to what they currently are at like level 27 and then fucking delete 95% of ways to get gem level.
