When my game is published, I'll travel to the other side of the globe on a motorcycle. I think travelling and meeting new people will fix the damage done to my psyche by being a shutin for 5 years. I won't get a ton of anxiety when talking to people because I'll leave that place in a few days.
Knowing my luck, I'll crash at the start of my trip and be a cripple, but if everything goes right I'll get the good ending.

I think 2020s is the testing phase god is putting us through. Everything will be ok in a bit. WAGMI

Friendslop is the genre. The ultimate goal is to have a game where you and some friends take on roles (science officer, security officer, doctor, etc.) and work together to complete tasks on some alien planets to earn points, which can unlock the next planet. Stuff can knock you over and you can knock stuff over. That's the big idea. I have some other smaller ideas about progression, item unlocks, and the different tasks you can do, but I'll worry about those if I can get to them. As for what I might submit to demoday, I have no idea what that might look like. I'll have to see what I can slap together.

>How long until AI can rig?

The ability for Artificial Intelligence to improperly influence or "rig" an election is not a future concern, as the technology is already being used for this purpose. This timeline is not about when Artificial Intelligence will be able to do this, but rather how quickly effective safeguards can be developed to counter its misuse.

Good question — here’s how you’d do both in GDScript (Godot 4):

Get the screen size:
var screen_size = get_viewport().get_visible_rect().size
or simply:
var screen_size = get_viewport_rect().size
Both give you a Vector2 with the width and height of the window.
Would you like me to show how to constrain that random Vector2 within a margin (e.g., not too close to edges)?

Reimplementing the cosmetic boku system I had to scrap awhile ago because it hurt the games performance. Since I didn't want the month long work I did last year on making the cosmetics I fixed the performance issue by making the bokube cosmetic dog shop be a separate scene but accessible still from any scene. You still spend a single diamond (1 hidden on each level) to unlock a random cosmetic by random from a list of about 39 of them or so.

This version of the cosmetic shop is much better than the old one and will play way nicer on a controller since its all UI buttons mostly no more drop down slider menus and whatnot like before.

because technology influences combat and arpgs work best with melee combat and magical abilities.
but you can try making something like The Ninth World in Torment Tides of Numenera. It's not an arpg but it's set billions of years in the future and the technology you find is so advanced and inscrutable that it's basically magic. I mean if you want to not have a generic fantasy setting, that's one way to do it.
or you can do something like https://store.steampowered.com/app/485400/Mechajammer/ (same couple who made Banquet for Fools).
or you can make something with vampires in the modern age?
but what you really need to do is to first make pong if you haven't already.

Maybe on your (good?) pc, but it's still ~1.3% of a frame at 60fps (.227ms). On target hardware it may hit harder. But I'm being a bit autistic, it's more than likely fine as long as there's not more than a few on screen at once.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. If you specify I can answer better, but:

My workflow for my texturing is to UV unwrap everything and then use an add-on in Blender called TexTools to set the texel density (124px/m for characters & 64px/m for environment). Once this is done I use the Pribambase add-on (for Aseprite & Blender) to see my texture update in realtime in Blender as I draw it in Aseprite. I block out colors and then typically go for a relatively simple style akin to Mega Man Legends. If I want something to look damaged I'll just sample a high-res image of rusted metal or something else, downscale it, despeckle it, then do 'new palette from sprite' in Aseprite limiting the color palette to ~8-16. I then change the color mode to indexed with dithering applied. This last bit can just help to get some nice dithering applied stuff whether it's a sampled image or something you drew yourself.

But yeah that's about it. Hope that help sin some way.

Game is well done (from a technical standpoint)
I have no reason to doubt the developer's technical ability to deliver the game from what I saw
But the game design has a lot of cracks. There's implications that they don't understand how to design a game like this from the pure progression/dynamics/experience side of things. I also don't see how they can scale the game without running into serious problems. I'd be cautious about expectations of how the game develops fully.

I just played the demo, it's fine and you're desperately nitpicking. Everything you've complained about is inane grumbling.
>>543488885 - It's called that because it's a combat system demo, which it says at the very beginning
>>543489105 - Oh no the menu isn't to your liking? What a serious and substantial critique of the game
>>543489356 - Waaa the color depth filter hurts my dainty little eyes. It's far less obnoxious than what I've seen in demoday, at least it doesn't have fucking dithering
>>543489731 - If you play the game's you'll see it would work perfectly fine with a controller, to think that you'd forgoe that feature for the sake of 'authenticity' is completely retarded and you clearly don't have your priorities straight.
>>543490446 - Oh the actual gameplay part of the gameplay demo was... good despite your bitching?
>>543491561 - You're complaining about lack of progression in a combat arena demo, what do you want next a battlepass? Fucking retard.

Personally I liked the demo for what brief time I played, I only played as the fighter, I'll try as other classes later. It's meant to be a simple combat demo but you have a functioning inventory and equipment system, the starting area has items you can scavenge and books that you can pick up and read. When the NPC in the other room beats your ass he leaves you alive on the ground and just helps himself to your stuff which I thought was pretty cool.

All of these things seem like a decent basis for deeper non-combat gameplay, and I think it looks promising.

I want to make an RPG where you can unlock different and upgraded skills for your party members after you spend time with them on a ‘date’ and a system where you can track your friendship status and hang out too without increasing your relationship level.
Also I want to add a parry mechanic.
Could this be done in any of the RPG Maker versions? I presume I might have to use plugins?

You're trivializing the issues A) because you don't understand their larger implications of the developer's goals and B) because you're probably a consolefag who's in the target audience of watered down AAAlite games.
Believe me, I want that game to succeed, even if only so that it leads to more developers wanting to make games like those. I have faith in the developer's skills. I don't have faith in the developer's intentions. That's all. Stop trying to gaslight me, because we've already lived through 25 years of PC game dilution and this is getting ridiculous. If you're really saying this that means you don't know how intricate programming can get. You could argue the same for art, just learn how to draw a few basic shapes, put them together, and you have an owl. You cripple yourself in your progress when you downplay the very skills you need to master. You need to have a mindset of "I know nothing" when it comes to all these things. Programming isn't just for loops and if statements, and art isn't just sphere cylinder and box.

Contrary to popular belief, Teflon coatings have a higher rockwell hardness than the steel, copper, and aluminum of the pans they are on in thin layers, and often knives and forks. (Also, Teflon is entirely chemically inert and will pass through our body without reacting.)
Teflon coating delaminate from pains with temperatures higher than 550F (290C), until your pan reaches this tempurature, your pans should resist light pressure from metal cookware.
Pressing too hard can cause the teflon to elastically deform, which can cause flaking, but often scratches aren't the cause of delamination of the coating. Heat is.

3d artists fair better, but often will be bogged down with level design and technical shit. 3d games are bug land.

For steel, the coating is sprayed into a formed pan. This is because the pan metal is smooth, and the tacky PTFE adheres worse to the surface.
For aluminum and copper, no matter the finish, it always is a little porous so the PTFE is sprayed onto flat discs, and then the pan is shaped.
You would figure that if the machine pressing the pan into shape isn't damaging to the teflon, it can handle your fork / spatula.

However, it becomes more and more apparent the limitations of the Source Engine and how much of a pain in the penis it is to implement things outside of the stock gameplay features of HL2.
Should I take the plunge and just make my game from scratch? What little programming experience I have is from trying to hack in my custom gameplay elements.

It doesn't matter what languages you know, companies expect you can learn that on the job as long as you already know a few languages coming in. A "real programmer" is someone who has an understanding of systems and how they interact. For example, my job used a lot of AWS so I had to understand what each AWS service is good for and how to connect them. You should also know how to debug, not just with a million print statements. Another good skill is the ability to abstract repetitive tasks into objects you can call in a modular way. The biggest traits you need to have are curiosity and patience though.

in any kind of entertainment, mass appeal was always about dumbing down. the kind of "people" who like VS are analogous to those who liked 50 shades of grey or fast & furious movies.
with PC gaming this trend has lagged somewhat because the earlier you go in PC gaming history the more skill you needed to be able to install and run a game. the kind of guys who could tinker with autoexec.bat and config.sys wouldn't tend to find games like VS very interesting.

Ignorance, general inexperience in the matter and companies like Amazon overpricing the fuck out of them making it seem expensive. If an indie dev were to use a service to host their game there's a very real possibility of bankrupting themselves doing it and looking at those numbers is scary. It creates this false image of it being expensive even if in truth it is rather cheap to do it on your own.

shovelware like that does get its own position in the new releases tab that takes away time and space from proper games

then again I suppose you could make the argument that many games being shovelware like that would make a decent game stand out if someone were to be looking through new releases

That would still be a fraction of a percentage of the AI generated shovelware coming through. Make it so only steam accounts of a certain level or seniority can vote on greenlit games.

You better learn to love it because it's a fact of life. Marketing is the meta game in game development. It is the science of making your game a CHADgame amongst gamecels.

I have two weapons
>Fists
>A sword
I'm not intent on adding ranged attacks to the game because that's at odds with the core design.
I feel like I need to round out that loadout with something.
A spear, axe, or scythe's function can already be done by the sword, and a mace or club can already be done by the fists.

Probably because influences have influence, and always have, there's nothing wrong or unusual about that. People have always outsourced their opinions and taken recommendations from others. 30 years ago that would have been games journalists and critics writing in physical videogame magazines. You seem to think that the attention of these influencers is something you can never even aspire to. I'm not sure why.

Your alternative to influences existing is some type of technocratic utopian ideal of a perfect recommendation algorithm, which doesn't exist anywhere, the biggest and best-funded companies in the world haven't figured that shit out. Every website or service I visit that has a recommendation algorithm is clearly just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Amazon recommends me shit I don't want to buy, Youtube recommends me shit I don't want to watch, and in all cases those algorithms are subject to backroom deals and artificial boosts from having the favor from the platform.

>>543523592
Instead of the organic gatekeeping of player interest and algorithmic signals, you'd prefer to be gatekept by the whims and fancy of some wagie in an Indian call center that Valve has outsourced the Steam validation process to. That seems... stupid. It's delusional to think that you'd be capable of producing a game that can get through a manual review when you can't even produce one that gets organic interest from potential players, and thus you have to spend time seething about the asset flips that are out-competing you in the new releases tab. You make the problems of human error and bias worse when you out that power in the hands 9mof a reviewer rather than leaving it up to the aggeegate traffic of many interested players.
