i made a halloween avatar of a yandere nurse and i wanted to make it public for u guys so here you go
it has a stabbing/yandere system i worked on that makes you progressively bloodier/crazier as you stab people more, plus way too many prefabs because i like prefabs and gimmicks
also an ft version with only a few things removed from the original to make space

if theres any issues let me know and i'll try and fix it, i'll be releasing the unity files down the line as i fix stuff up and figure out how to easily package it so it doesnt break people's projects + instructions

Quest 3 has significantly improved computing power and lenses over the quest 2. If you plan to play games on the device itself and not just PCVR it's worth the money. Used quest 2 might be pretty cheap if you don't mind wiping off the stank from the previous owner, so if you just want to try and see if you'll like it first, it's a good way to go as well.

The quest 3s is a quest 3 chipset with all the rest being quest 2 parts, more or less. I wouldn't recommend it unless you can't afford the extra 200 bucks for a quest 3.

Yes and yes. Glasses do fit in most headsets, but it's HIGHLY HIGHLY Recommended to instead buy inserts. What you should do is try VR, get over the motion sickness, then see if you like it. Then get inserts ASAP because the longer you wear glasses the higher risk of scratching the inside of your lenses and that SUCKS ASS.

your 3070 will handle games much better than the onboard compute on a quest. A quest is similar to a newer phone in terms of graphical ability. It's enough for highly optimized games but the average Very Poor VRC avatar will not even work. It'd be nice if proper optimization was more common, but VRC's optimization targets for th quest are still based around the quest 2 and are so constrained people don't even want to try.

I've used my Quest 3 with a pair of glasses that fitted. It was a bit of a hassle to get them inside every time, and the glasses lenses got scratched by the plastic. So I went for some VR Optician inserts (two day shipping to EU) and it's more practical. I liked the magnetic ones more but they didn't ship quickly in EU and I don't care much about it because I rarely use contacts.

I have mine for a while, I like it a lot. Raged a lot about smearing when bright initially, but kinda coped it out of my awarness through time. I still like it, but I also beta tested the bigmeme 1 on its launch and liked it, so I knew generally what I was getting. And so far I've been lucky with the hardware (no dead pixels/weird color calibration/housefires), but I did do 2 RMAs of the bigmeme 1 so I'm prepared to send the bigmeme 2 back if anything funny happens.

That's essentially the cope for the beyond; It's expensive and unreliable but if you have a backup headset, you can reroll whenever and their support has quick turnaround. And hope you get the lucky with the next piece of hardware.

Basically this. It turns into a money sink where you better have AP or rifle rounds. Usually I ended up taking overpressure pistol rounds and AP rifle rounds. Going through the factory to unlock the sec level needed to buy these though is a pain since you have to kill armored enemies without the proper tools to do it. Best you get is FMJ rifle and AP pistol. There's some free rifles kicking about on the map and they're good to grab and just throw some ammo into.

Heavily defended areas rarely are worth the trouble. I only recommend going to them to do story objectives since then the payout is worth it. What you do for money is pay attention to the more lightly defended areas of village and factory. There's a whole bunch of artifact fields so every wave you zip around and hit up the artifact fields with some artifact collecting side missions in your belt.
You can go super eco and clear the first area's fields with just a makarov if you have to if you need to bootstrap some equipment back, but after getting a M9 or something you can do village once you ignore the old building full of SMG guys. Or not, there's often a mission in the basement and it's not THAT hard to clear out so long as you get close first, and just hit them with the M9. Bootstrapping from the village fields you hit up the factory. There's the electrical thing in the middle and the quarry with enough artifact fields to make a neat profit with little defense. There's actually a way to slide up and down the quarry right from the little admin building next to the spawn point from the village. You can slide down there, clear the quarry with a little AP (the checkpoint at the back can be avoided it's not worth it) and pull it out for profit. There's also from the village a path to the uh.. the place with the armored APC. If you go HARD LEFT after the entrance, there's a little substation up the hill that can spawn an undefended silver chest about 50% of the time. It's free high level loot although mostly I find mp5s (which is actually one of the best weapons in the game with overpressure ammo)

Anon you can put cheap ammo in your pistol and expensive AP ammo in your primary gun. Also side missions are for making money and high priority missions are for spending it so don't worry about blowing fuckloads of money on high quality stuff for that. Using a shotgun early tide is a great way to clear an area quickly essentially for free too. There's limitless shotgun ammo around and slugs are AP.

My loadout would depend on where I was going. For story missions I prep for the worst; high level ammo on everything. If I'm just looting then I'm a lot more economical and just use the cheapest ammo I could get away with. Pistols kinda suck against armored enemies even with AP ammo so just having a trash-shooter FMJ M9 goes a long way to being cost efficient. Plus swapping it out with a GSH to burn some 9x18 that somehow piles up. Shotguns are good too against anything not ranged.

Samsung headset seems quite good steamvr headset, albeit pricy. Supposedly there is already a VirtualDesktop version for it which forwards eye and facetracking to steamvr. And most likely steamvrlink.apk included in the steamvr forlder will also just work.
Spatial computing side also seems fine, all android apps work, 4k screens will have good text quality.
What can ask more except lower price? Maybe a small onboard battery for hotswap and dp input? But otherwise it seems like Samsung is now THE vrchat machine, the qpro replacer.

I was playing Bonelab and fucking around by myself in some levels, spawning stuff in and I got to thinking. It'd be really cool if it had multiplayer that allowed one to act as GM and spawn in weapons and items and enemies while invisible while another player goes around as the player in a sort of tabletop roleplay scenario. As far as I know, if it works in Unity it'll work in game, though there might be issues with VR rendering that are just inherent to it being in VR. Some crazy people have done a RISC-V emulator or LLM translator in a shader in VRchat (though IDK if they still work). If you want to modify an existing shader or write your own and bundle it and the material with your asset that's also perfectly fine. Most people drag and drop a prefab asset into their scene with the material applied.

The idea of different avatars to handle different situations was interesting, and I have no idea how much work it was behind the scenes, but I agree that it didn't really add much mechanically.
I assume there were more changes done with modding in mind as a long term goal too, but as a player, it doesn't really feel like they made a new game that's actually worth buying.

It added a lot, it's just that it didn't change much for vanilla game because vanilla game was literally a bunch of demo avatars for each respective avatar. In MP boner lobbies, we had tons of fun switching between avatars for various specific purposes.

I think Boneworks leveldesign is just very autistic. It delivers lots of beautiful concepts (a certain degree of freedom to beat levels, actually distinct style and feel between areas this one is super impressive because they've still kept the general concept of closed simulation rooms everywhere, often skippable puzzle if you're smart enough to work around them) but falls short on the fundamentals. There's three enemy types with zero gameplay meat in them, shooting holographic enemy is just the matter of aiming in the general area and pulling the trigger, wrestling sameface zombies gets old after 50 of them. Combat areas are rarely designed with combat in mind, and usually it's just yet another sandbox room with a couple of cover bits scattered around. They've set up a wonderful setup for a VR title, got brilliant jank fun engine, great atmosphere, simple but involving backstory/story, 10/10 music, and then they just kinda forgot to slap it together into an actual game.

The best gameplay area of Boneworks is the shooting range, rest is all up to you making your own fun by doing dumb stuff. I love the game regardless, but gameplay side of leveldesign doesn't feel like the strongest part of it.

The is the only mention of something that would be considered "facial tracking". It is also a very round about way of saying "facial tracking'
Also, note how they say that not the headset does it, but somehow the avatar.

My guess is that (since AI is everywhere in that headset) they use the information of the eye tracking and estimate what the rest of the face is doing.
I will fully believe that they have facial tracking once they say "we have facial tracking". Because usually this is a huge bulletpoint for sales. Why should they not list such a feature on their sales page like any other headset that featured facial tracking?

Finally had time to play some VR demos. First one I played was battlegroup II. It's a 3d space commander type game where you command ships around to fight and stuff. It's reasonably polished and engaging but fights drag on, there is a speedup button I forgot about completely though. And one hint for the tutorial is that the big ship that appears is invincible and you need to kill the two smaller ones.

By Grit Alone is another demo I tried. It's pretty janky but it has some soul to it which makes it hard to hate outright. The dark areas are kinda nice and there's gameplay ideas inspired by other games that work reasonably well. Don't expect quality though.
