I like the idea of being restricted better, as someone who plays all characters. They also don't have the skills to balance more than 5 characters when it comes to N4/highest difficulties.

improve movement to make yourself more difficult to hit, use your cds better, and just play more to get a better of understand of when you're under threat. having to 'turn around' and see what your team doing is a beginner tank thing, your heals will not be constant but your CDs and hp bar is. tanks don't just sit in the open taking damage 24/7, you're a hero like everyone else and you need to balance taking more space with ducking behind cover/using cds to get to safety like everyone else. It's why solo tank is not viable in an equal skill matchup, having 2 heros who can help each other in this situation is significantly easier than just doing it alone
