Hellfire is probably the worst boss to get in Maze. Way too many invulnerability phases, extremely annoying movement with lots of jumps, constantly attacks and does a lot of damage. Compared to her most other bosses can't even compare.

rhythm's q is top tier for afk. autotarget, massive range, 360 degree coverage, goes through walls, oneshots low level adds and the polarity part oneshots high level adds. its cost scales down with both efficiency and duration like most modes. it should be pretty obvious what you use here but you want the wedge that reduces range and increases duration since it will ensure things die inside of boxie's pickup range and not out of it.

Devouring Wildfire gold wedge, rest of the wedges are purples with +5 being midnight sun, prime morale, and 4 blaze eternitys. 8/9 wedge slots filled, can't fit anything else on that set up. No, Hellfire falls off hard. Hellfire is the best for low level because it kills everything in a huge area the instant they spawn, so you can clear really fast. Giving every weapon the same thing would be dumb but they should give every melee weapon a traversal gimmick wedge. For example daggers could get a teleport and backstab but it requires a target to actually pull off. The lunge with polearms feels thematically correct which is why numerous games give that weapon a lunge attack.

I'm trial rank 62 and I can tell you from experience that just ascending all the characters and weapons you can get your hands on through the clue shop, and getting all the farmable wedges from missions (I did make the gold ones as well though) can get you as far as 62. I only have nifle i6, psyche i2 and lisbell i2 or so, and still some 11 or so weapons that I didn't do the last ascension step on (because those mats drop randomly and you need some of them far more than others so fuck that).
After 62 you're basically gated by letter clues though. I don't think I can hit 63 right now even if I tried because I don't have enough letters.

Ascensions should get you to 60 yeah. Basically get 1 of every character and weapon you can farm from clues (in my case I also have tabethe and 2 weekly boss weapons), ascend them past level 60, that should get you there, I'm not sure if the crafted demon wedges would be necessary (idr how much I even got out of that desu). From there, you level all of that stuff to 70 and ascend again, and that should be enough for TR62. That's pretty much what I did.

Act 12 is harder than everything past it until 18.
Learn to group enemies so you can hit elites and still kill mobs. I ran Truffle and Tabethe with the geniemon that heals and buffs anemo damage because Daphne wasn't cutting it. I1 Psyche at the time. Boss Psyche is a joke if you keep a certain autitude to avoide the melee attacks. You just need to pray she uses the tornadoes move at 50% instead of the wings again.

You don't get free weekly clears, you only get 1 per difficulty per boss. And no, the chance of getting a gold (10 thoughts or weapon blueprint) before 7 letters is minuscule, getting one within the max 5 letters you get from 1 attempt is even lower.

Oversight by the devs. The game does not calculate your tolerance wedge first which causes some problems. What you're running into is one of them, not being able to swap one tolerance wedge for another without removing other wedges first is also an issue.

Tabethe is there for the boost for skill damage. I had to micromanage the mobs a little in Trial II and in trial IV it's essential, since the elite enemies are more tanky and it's a little harder to focus on them thanks to the phantasms going around + mobs being more spread out.
