I have a question for the Dogma Rising arisen here.
I used to play the original MMO a lot, and there was a premium subscripition you could buy that game a fucklot of quality of life shit like double storage, crafting, trading and other shit.
Is that in the Dogma Rising by default by everyone?

DD 1 and 2 have some online aspects, like sharing the NPC companion you can create with other players, while Dragon's Dogma Online is pretty much a MMORPG and it's become available recently after being shutdown by Capcom, a small team of developers have created private server functionality and are slowly restoring the game feature by feature.
Then there's a 4th game, Dragon's Dogma Quest but I've never played that one, it is a phone/mobile game so I assume it must have had some online aspects too

as with DD1 capcom came in and cut the development's legs to make way for MH. Then Wilds went on to be in an even worse state, likely cause capcom again came in and told them to release it asap no matter what

The core of Wilds is bad. No extra years of development would have changed that.
People want to meme DD2 was cut down too, but I honestly don't believe it. The game seems small scale from the gate go to me, except if there were plans for even more land to open. While the original had some narrow mountain roads, at least once you pass them the map opens up on the other side. DD2 almost always feels narrow. I doubt that's a decision they made 6 months before release, or even a year or two. It must have been decided early on. I think there are more limitations that just seem to exist the way they are supposed to be.
You can't even say Itsuno knew he had a small budget from the beginning, so he did his best. It is his full vision, remember? Except if he had already given up on the possibility of doing more, but then again, why even bother making it if you gonna do so many things even worse than the original? I believe it is his vision. Either his vision got dulled with time, or he always sucked. Other than DD his most remarkable franchise is DMC. If anything he maybe copied the shit maps of DMC5 onto DD2. DMC was fine with even less attack buttons, so if anything it was bad that DD1 had so many?
Anonymous No.1873348 >>1873794

>You can't even say Itsuno knew he had a small budget from the beginning, so he did his best
no that's the point, remember how he "justified" the lack of armor layering with complete nonsense? The Visionโ„ข had already been tempered imo, and then capcom went in again and told them to hurry it up. Remember even the character creator was supposed to have less options by his own volition, his team insisted on adding more options instead and he eventually conceded.
Like you don't become game directory without also being a bit of a suit, so it's not like they did cbt on him while laughing maniacally, he very likely went in with a plan with a much smaller scope than what DD1 started with (especially given he was also there when that game's scope was reduced and reduced, so it' s not like he didn't know it was gonna happen here too), but even then they got to reduce stuff even more. I mostly say this cause the game shipped, besides the obvious performance issues, without basic options like equipping stuff from the storage or zooming in a character while in the equip menu, that for me is clear evidence they rushed the game out of the door. And even in that situation Itsuno went "urrrr the game has everything i wanted it to have!!", which of course isn't true and it ties back to his other nonsensical explanation of the other stuff they had cut. And then he left the company, which i mean i don't think anyone sane can take that as something that would've happened anyway, it clearly happened cause either capcom didn't want him around anymore, he didn't want to be in capcom anymore or both.
Remember that a car crash is almost always the result of multiple things happening at the same time, it's not just either speeding or being drunk or texting while driving, it's usually a combination of those, if not all three at the same time

A lot of it is soloable, main quest is all soloable, (official) EXMs are pretty much all soloable too, assuming you don't mind putting in the extra effort to gear your pawns you can do pretty much all the content there is, all the EXMs we have at the moment do let you take pawns into them and that's enough to clear them.
The one thing you will not be able to do solo at the moment is BBM Abyss runs, but there's plenty of players wanting to run that anyway.

There's two options, your friend can use this updated launcher, it has an language icon at the bottom where you can choose between English and Japanese, the first option is actually how you would update the game's English translation by the way.
>Launcher

Or he could download the entire game in Japanese and paste it over his current install, honestly the better option is to get the new launcher, since it's pretty convenient anyway.

Level 2 Shield Sage and I'm already regretting it. What the fuck does it even do aside from evidently pull aggro? I have no offense whatsoever and none of the starter skills seem to interact, or buff me, or deal damage.
Anonymous No.1907809
>>1907789
In the early game you don't have a lot of options, but by drawing aggro and blocking attacks (ideally with good timing) you fill up your gauge, you then spend gauge on party elemental enchantments and force bursts, both are very strong core skills available from the start, you'll get access to some nice skills later and SS is the one vocation that can apply strong debuffs consistently on downs, such as torpor, petrify and sleep, it's also easy to apply elemental debuffs with force bursts and later on with a skill called force shield.
Anonymous No.1907810 >>1908365
>>1907789
starting vocation doesn't matter since you can switch immediately.

Shield Sage is a very slow, very passive class. It can still provide strong value but (similar to Priest) only other players in the party can make Shield Sage not suck to play, pawns (at least early) just can't provide enough value for Arisen Priest/SS to just sit around and provide buffs.

If you want to play a blue/tank vocation, then good news because Alchemist is the most fun vocation in the game. The bad news is that you can't rank up any of its' skills to 6 or higher until like 30+ hours into the game. You can still get by (and have way more fun than SS) though.

Dogma Rising is having an event:

>Today we will be starting the โ€œTarot Trouble!โ€ event!

>This event is part scavenger hunt and part grind fest. Find the monsters, form parties, and hunt them! They will drop coins to represent different cards of the Tarot deck and will be trade-ins for various cosmetics!

>This is a long event. The current plan is to let it run for at least 2 months. You will have plenty of time to grind.

>Once they are all found, an update will introduce a random script to work similar to our Hardened by Darkness script. Meaning that random mobs will inherit the Tarot modifiers and their coin drops!

>As time progresses, the scry will become clearer and the hints a bit more direct. For now, weโ€™re certain that there are no monsters in S3 areas. There are also images of some of them being in Channel 4.

>Because I donโ€™t want to be TOO vague, here are a few ground rules.

Some are โ€œeasyโ€ and some will require some footwork.
The first 7 are channels 1-3 and channel 5. These monsters have been modified to have the Tarot Name on the monster.
The last 5 are channel 4 ONLY. They will be new or modified monsters.
Some might be in areas and/or spawned in with Area Rank increases.

For now, these are the current hints and some of the known locations of the Tarot mobs:

Channel 1, 2, 3 and 5 only:

>The Magician, cunning as he was, would never expect his assistant to have it out for him. With a quick swipe of the card, the assistant now dances on his former masterโ€™s grave.
Location Unknown.

>The Hanged Man. Hidden under a forest while water rushes by. His head nearly scrapes the ceiling as he walks.
Cyclops inside Lynwood Underground Waterway.

>Strength. Roaming between two mountains, this beast guards the path connecting a settlement with an unlikely friend.
The clearing on the way north of Hobolic Cave towards Jingen. It's a Behemoth.

Post 1/2.
Anonymous No.1908101
>The Hierophant, with all the best intentions, had no idea what the card would do to him. For all the divining in the world couldnโ€™t warn him of his curse. Now he roams underground, rage blinding him and his soul is unable to continue on.
Wight at the end of the Catacomb dungeon in Dowe Valley.

>The Hermit. Hidden far away, all he remembers is the butterfly standing guard.
Le Karvas Salto in Erte Deenan, will need a small butterfly key.

>Justice, the poor malformed beast. Forever guarding the civilization that used to be.
The Alchemized Griffin right below the Mergoda Security District Portcrystal.

>Judgement, in all his glory, guards the crag. Hiding away at night to lick his wounds.
Drake close to the BBI Precipice Portcrystal, only during the day.

Channel 4 only:

>Temperance, basking in glory. This creature will prove formidable. It will take patience and perseverance as it guards its sanctuary.
Shell Dragon's Bog.

>The Emperor. A servant to an unknown creature. With motives unknown, he lies in wait for a challenger stupid enough to take this power from him.
Location Unknown.

>The Devil, a blasted beast following a path not his own. Thrown onto the cliffside and trapped by infection.
Morrow Forest Depths, infected Basin.

>Fortune came to the most fitting. A king of a crumbled castle.
Mergoda Royal Palace, where you'd fight Diamantes in the story

>The Lovers guard their trove to the death. An unlikely pair dancing in harmony.
Kingal Canyon, Dancing Circle.

It's a numbers game, your vocation LV and weapon LV better match or exceed the boss LV or you'll have a bad time, you'll also need a green vocation in your party to reveal boss' weaknesses, otherwise it will take you a lot longer to knock them down and do big damage

At the time, 2024's TGS was the most likely event to have something DD2 related, since it was at 2023's TGS when DD2 was officially shown for the first time in a big way, with a lot of gameplay and also where people could go in person to try the game for themselves, and way before that TGS was always a place that had Dragon's Dogma in one way or another, so in short, TGS always meant big Dragon's Dogma news, so it seemed fitting.

Hoping for additional stuff after 2024's TGS was and is too optimistic, foolishly optimistic, and now with TGS 2025 coming up, 18 months after DD2's launch, the chances of getting anything are practically non-existent.
I expect stuff like REquiem, Pregmata, Monster Hunter, Onimusha and maybe even an Okami 2 teaser at this upcoming TGS.

Update: I am level 50 now, with my third pawn. Still just using Seeker as my sole vocation, and abusing a Petrification 100 bracelet I found in BBM.

1. the vanilla/retail game deserved to die, because everything good about what I'm seeing on Dogma Rising is custom and made for the players' convenience. I can't believe how insanely longnosed the devs were.

2. being ~3 levels above a given enemy is the only way to enjoy this (Seeker) gameplay, I'm just too frail and hit like a wet noodle if I'm anything below that

3. the lack of documentation is frustrating, there's a lot of mechanics I simply can't understand like what 'Demon Slayer 14' actually means and applies to when the zone quests say Saurians and Ghosts are demons. Is the 14 a percentage bonus calculated after everything else? It makes me question if crests are actually worth keeping. Augments are sometimes not clearly spelling out their benefits, I don't know if it's a translation patch issue or not.
Anonymous No.1923574 >>1923584
>>1923458
Lack of documentation sounds about right, about crests: You'll get powerful crests later on, the ones you'll get in early game are not very good, Slayers crests you can pretty much ignore and 14 is not actually a percentage but it's added to your base damage, it might not seem significant but these type of damage boosts come before any multipliers from skills and stuff so they can be impactful, that being said the Slayer effect from crests is too small to be worth it, once you try BBM you can get bracelets that give you Slayer effects that can go up to 90 and those are more useful.

About augments not being very descriptive, I assume that's just how they were originally in Japanese, not very detailed, but if you know Japanese you can try the Japanese version of the game and check for yourself.

The latest updates to the translation have started adding things such as numbers like percentages and such to many augments, it seems like you don't have it installed, do you happen to have the new launcher? It will let you quickly update the game translation with this button, that button also allows you to set the game to Japanese if you want to.

Thanks for replying. So if you can help me directly, I have this augment called Rope Reversal that says "up to 50% Blow Power of Seeker's Rope, increasing chance of breaking posture"
There is no exact Seeker's Rope, not by that name. There's a Throw Rope (always available, core skill) and there's a Rope Slide. I want to know if it's giving a stagger bonus to something I use all the time or something I use only on my boss killer palette.
I do know a bit of nipponese but...only a tiny bit really, not enough to deduce this myself. Might be worth just comparing the two text boxes for the skill and augments. The translation patch is installed but obviously a WIP as some conversations switch languages for a sentence.
Anonymous No.1923595
>>1923584
Unfortunately I don't play Seeker so hopefully someone who actually does can confirm but I assume those kind of augments only apply to core skills, they either affect certain core skills or one stat in general and going by the wording, it looks like that one augment will only affect your core skill Throw Rope.
Oh yeah the translation is still missing a lot but augments did receive some love lately but I'm sure they can be improved further, some shit is definitely still in Japanese and that drives me nuts, like nearly all the pawn dialogue when they're in your Arisen Room.

I don't even know what "Attack/Support" means, that's tremendously vague as a label. I will accept less backpats if it means he doesn't try to pull bosses towards bad places when I'm gassed, but I cannot handle him mounting an ogre and then it goes tard rage towards everyone.

For some reason pawns will just do that randomly, you cannot completely avoid it, but when it does happen you can use the "Attack" command and they will jump off the enemy and actually do their jobs.
However, Shield Sage pawns kind of suck, so don't expect much anyway, you can also try to set "Attract Enemies" to the top of the "Priority of actions" list.

Almost all of Capcom's major announcements in the past 10 years have been during May/June and December. They've announced nothing at TGS specifically, the closest being DMC5SE, which was announced in September because it was a launch title for the next gen consoles in November.

>โ€œIf it sells at this level, all goodโ€. Meaning that if the game was loved by so many, itโ€™s all good. I made the game not like a Nintendo one to be liked by all the people, but for a certain type of audience, so itโ€™s normal if some people outside that target audience donโ€™t like the game. However, people who enjoyed the game really loved it, appreciated the details and work. Iโ€™m very proud of it.

Dogma Rising news:

>Pawns should now inherit your EX skills that have been properly unlocked through the HOBO tree. If you have legacy EX skills from before the various changes, they won't inherit those.
You might want to take a look at your pawns' tactics after this change and re-apply skills if necessary.

>You can now use Slayer(?) Stones as part of the Crafting or Quality Change process to add certain additional effects to your weapons.
Not all spots that should drop these those are currently implemented, I believe only the one that's working is the one that drops Chance Attack shards/stones near Morrow Forest, there's a LV80? Sev. Inf. Griffin guarding some chests, the rest of the shards/stones can be obtained from Powerful/Hardened enemies for now until the other spots are populated.

Grok translate Itsuno interview:
The project has started prototype development (beginning in Spring 2025), with an expected demo within a year. The studio currently has nearly 50 people, with half from Capcom and one-third from Itsuno's original team. The initial goal is to expand to over 100 staff, currently hiring key personnel, with plans for multiple product lines in the future. The budget is "very sufficient," but the first project will be controlled in scale to meet players quickly.

Itsuno: This time, I asked team members to join with the mindset of โ€œfollow my approach and adapt to this process.โ€ Those whoโ€™ve worked with me before feel comfortable, but some new members find this unfamiliar approach confusing, so weโ€™re moving forward while constantly communicating. My game development style avoids excessive trial and error. Instead, I prefer to โ€œset a solid plan early and stick to it.โ€ I know my approach differs from other directors, but I only make games my way. In the past, Iโ€™ve never made major course corrections mid-development, and this time, I aim to lock in the direction early and push through as much as possible. Whether this results in a โ€œsmoothโ€ or โ€œchallengingโ€ process is hard to generalize, so weโ€™re moving forward with this approach while seeking everyoneโ€™s understanding.Interviewer: When you say โ€œa bit different,โ€ do you mean this โ€œno course changesโ€ approach?Itsuno: Yes. In large companies, budgets and schedules are usually fixed, and every restart reduces the final productโ€™s โ€œvolume.โ€ I donโ€™t want to cut that volume (laughs). Rework later in development costs more, so we experiment thoroughly early on, lock in the plan, and move forward. We aim to put as much of the allocated resources as possible into the game itself. Cut content isnโ€™t entirely wasted, but players might feel, โ€œWith all that budget, this is all we get?โ€Interviewer: So, you want to deliver something players can tangibly experience, right?Itsuno: The budget this time is quite substantial, and I want to deliver as much content as possible to match that budget. Thatโ€™s my thinking.
