Don't get high expectations for server stability from that though. The devs are volunteers and while my friend works in software development, he's no security expert and I have no idea who the other people are so no info on their credentials. By what he said, they're there more to assist when the server eventually gets attacked, and there isn't much they can do to prepare since the issues are in the server binaries themselves and aren't documented anywhere.

Menma sold their premium currency that was used for custom cosmetics, but every other aspect of the server including elite was obtainable by just playing the game, including the custom cosmetics because you could buy them with gold. Arborea functions similarily, everything is obtainable with tikats which you can get by playing the game, and I believe the same goes for Starscape and Agaia. You can choose to spend money on these servers, but you are not forced to do it.
Even Akeron which was led by moneygrubbers had tradeable Elite scrolls, although no f2p sources of obtaining Elite. All vouchers on Akeron, which is a known cashgrab server, cost much less than they did on Classic.

Only Tera Classic led by PooPoo had elite be unobtainable with ingame gold or other forms of grind, and sold all vouchers under the table for 10$. Costumes were unobtainable unless you were an egirl mod in which case you could get what you wanted by rimming PooPoo real good.

Name me one other relevant Tera private server that functions like Classic, I'll wait.

The very same sort of lethargy and gradual departure which befell this thread not long after its founding surge of interest towards Starscape. Except now you don't have (Me) posting screenshots to prove some Anon are still playing it.
Many who've given v100 servers a proper shot have since had their fill (despite said version's genuine quality), and those who want nothing more than to immerse themselves in a v31-era time capsule have little else to do but sit on their hands and wait 'til TiE's sekret server is eventually released.

I, myself, have also moved on to other ventures for the time being. Reached the usual ~6-9 months I tend to stay with any given MMO before setting it aside for a good while, to prevent encroaching burnout. There is no other action-MMO quite like TERA, and that is not a feeling I'd want to cheapen by overstaying my welcome.
Currently resuming my routine in FFXI (retail servers, not private ones)), before my focus will once again shift to GW2 sometime in early October. After a few months there, who's to say where I'll end up next. Perhaps back in Vana'Diel, perhaps going yet another round with Starscape. Or perhaps something else entirely.

For the time being, I've relinquished my position of maintaining these threads. /terag/'s revival had a respectable run, albeit one somewhat undermined by the same ~2-3 imported trolls from a completely different General mucking-up the place when they were especially bored (which seems to be the case for every MMO thread in [current year] on this site, sadly).

When downloading the game, it is highly recommended to download through the torrent as that will give you the fastest speeds as well as avoid breaking the download prematurely. If you encounter issues registering for an account or loading the game, feel free to post in the discord.

Please note that due to Google security rules, you may experience a 4-5 minute delay on your signup verification email coming in if you are using a Gmail address. We are hoping to resolve this over time.

Open Beta Feedback Campaign:
Currently, as part of our Open Beta Testing, we will be running a small promotion where players can earn a **Free 14-day Elite Voucher** at launch for doing the following:

1. Register for Open Beta.
2. Play the game.
3. Provide some feedback about your experience by making a thread in the discord. The feedback does not have to be substantial.
A template for feedback will be provided for those who wish to follow a guided structure for submitting feedback.

Please note that as part of the current Pre-registration phase, players will only be limited to the following:

* Registering for accounts to be used in Open Beta testing.
