The problem is that the devs are constantly chasing new audiences with FF. Like how FF16 they wanted some kind of normie Game of Thrones/God of War audience. It wasn't made for their classic JRPG fans who've played FF1 through 15. They keep alientating their current fanbase and trying to look for a fanbase that doesn't exist. I can't imagine the normies I work with wanting to play Final Fantasy. They'd call that shit gay unironcally because JRPGs or anything related to anime is childish to them.
