Pick 3 speed cards, then Creek and Vodka for two gold heals - take those heals as you play if they're available. Last card can be Fine Motion, Tazuna or just another power like Oguri. Level up your cards to max before training. Try to find a rental parent with good genes and preferably late pace and final stretch skills. For example Rice has a guaranteed inherit that helps, Homestretch comes in clutch too. Focus on training speed, stamina and power. Wit is alright but not too crucial, doesn't need to be above 400 by the end of the game (Fine Motion might not be needed at all if you're lucky). Guts is a meme, don't focus on it on a long distance late like Opera.

you can quite literally spam nothing but speed training and pass bakushin's career if you're only looking to complete it. bakushin has a tendency to mood down and get sick randomly, it's why tazuna (https://gametora.com/umamusume/supports/30021-tazuna-hayakawa) is a useful card to bring. tazuna is actually a really, really good support card for newer players to run since it widens your margin for error significantly. the downside, of course, is that you're occupying a very valuable card-slot on something that raises your "floor" but caps your build's ceiling quite significantly.

note that successfully completing the career is the retard-check, the real goal should be to build a bakushin to fill your sprint-slot in PvP which requires a little more effort/planning. sprinters are, by far, the easiest builds to complete with the general trend being that the longer the race, the more annoying the build.

a good beginning gold ship build for PvP is to run 3 speed, 2 stamina, and a +1 that seems useful. if you want an easier run then tazuna is an option as explained above. if you want your build to go a step further into 3-stat then a maxed/LMB Fine Motion will make the build more consistent for PvP. the issue is that borrowing something like a maxed/LMB Super Creek would be far more valuable. new players tend to trip up on the longer-distance units because stamina is introduced as a stat that gatekeeps them from completing races, even in career.

As with all horses, Speed > Stamina > Everything else. With her ending at the Arima Kinen you're going to want Stamina to be as high as it can. Generally though just use as many Speed cards as you can in your deck and throw in a Stamina or Power for shits and giggles.

Making your stats even is a problem early on. In general your first few runs you want to run 1 Guest legacy for as many free stats as you can, then line up your cards to focus on about 2 stats. A lot of times it's good to go Speed + Stam or Speed + Wit. Then in your first year focus on raising the friendship gauge for your supports to orange. Once they hit orange they can give you a special buff to training, which will make it easier going forward.

You can use the following for a base strategy:
- The more behind your uma position is, more PWR she will need
- The longer the track is, more STA is required
- You can avoid training STA by getting stamina skills (blue skills) - this really depends on your strategy
- Late Surger and End Chaser umas are way more difficult to win career because there're RNG factors against it like your uma being stuck between opponents and can't break from the pack

When starting a new career, you need to fill up friendship gauge with your supports, as soon they reach orange bar, they unlock friendship training which will give more stats when training. As you can read on this thread, SPD is key unless you're either Late or End. Front and Pace can go full nuts on SPD but do pay attention if your uma career has medium or long races, then you need to use or borrow at least one STA support (PWR type umas already naturally trains STA). A popular easy career mode for URA is Sakura Bakushin with full 6 SPD cards, it's a good way to feel like how a career mode is right now while easily winning everything.

Every time my uma loses it's because of lack of wit or gut. Should I actually be trying to make even instead of focusing on speed and stamina?

Guts rework happens later, if it's the one I'm thinking of then the apology gift was for breaking the banners for a day recently, people couldn't roll.
Guts is still a dump stat, if you lose on guts you didn't have enough stam.
Make sure you have enough stamina for your upcoming race types but beyond that focus speed, either by a lot (front) or about equal to power for other styles which you also want especially if you're late/end. If your failure rate is below 40% try wit training for energy instead of resting, 300 wit is pretty much necessary by the end and 400 is nice to have.
If you aren't doing it yet then try to focus on hitting the most friends with your training pre-summer camp so you get more rainbow trainings later.

How bad is the auto build for legacies and card deck? When I try and build based on role and skills I want, I see to do worse. Is an ssr that doesn't match your type better than a R or SR that gives good skills?
