Korean games don't shy away from having males in male targeted gacha. It'll be a low %, but they will be there.

I played Counterside for quite a while, and you had "lifetime contracts" you could give any girl, guy, monster, mech, soldier you want for a short blurb and 2% stats or whatever once they hit 100 affection and notably no longer lose any if you lose a fight with them.
Notably the males aren't written for females, so they are on average WAY more likable than what you'd know or expect from games that actually design them for a female audience.

Whilst this game is a shitshow due to its gacha, I never understood the distain for 2D and how we automatically praise 3D. A lot of the 3D games just use similar models and don't actually try for unique models. Just being 3d doesn't magically imply effort. Street fighter 5 could shit out costumes because of little they gave a fuck about the 3d and many complaints that I have about the 3d gachas I play are how much they want to standardise the animations and models.

I was going to use this as an example but thought people would understand. But I feel like the apt comparison would be Kof13, guilty gear (xrd + strive, and street fighter. Everyone seems to assume that 3d = the newer guilty gears where everything is meticulously done to the detriment of the production time. But most 3d is just capcom copy-paste skin costume on a 3d rig, and at least capcom had models for each character with unique hit and hurt boxes. Games like genshin don't even do that and just cycle through the 4 or 5 preset models they have, and all animations have to work with all the weapons. Yet the most timeless one, KOF13, set SNK so far back due to their commitment to the HD sprites, yet people will just say "lol 2D bad." This is gameplay, not withstanding, of course.

I like the fact czn is 2d. The sprites and animations are beautiful. But is the comparison correct? KoF XIII was (understandably) super costly to make. Third-strike too for similar reasons.
But then games like Limbus usually have pretty big profit margins because of how cheap it is to make their assets. CZN definitely has better animations but I'm sure it's still way cheaper to produce than any 3D game (hopefully, I want CZN to be profitable).
I think it's pixel art specifically that bumps up the production cost.
