I'm so glad I got into emulating games. Actually buying physical retro games has gotten super fucking retarded. Why in God's name would Silent Hill 2 on PS2 be more expensive than an actual used PS2? Retro game collecting is absolutely moronic.

the huge price increase didn't happen till about 2019/2020 for this game. Before that you could find dozens of copies for maybe $10-15 at any used game store. I guess FOMO is a hell of a drug.

I sold my copy of Silent Hill Origins for PS2 for like 25€. I bet it's like 150€ now
I knew it would happen too, but I was just so sick of the coomlection bullshit. I don't wanna have to do with that shit. I say that while still recognizing that you can't beat playing the originals, emulator is nowhere, but OPL is pretty close. This game Silent Hill 2 has a pretty good PC port, I played it in the stone age on Pentium 4 and was a great experience.
As far as coomlecting goes, I'm mad that I'll always have that knowledge of what's rare and what isn't. If I see a copy of [rare game], I'll always go "oh shit profit opportunity". That pisses me off

Yea I'm sure you haven't wasted years of your life here, it's the one second reading this in the catalog that did it

I bought a Japanese copy on Ebay, it's much cheaper than PAL (which comes in a horrid cardboard box digipak kinda thing which I don't want anyway). Now I just have to install MechaPwn without fucking my console up.

>tfw somehow I bought SH2 and 3 in late 00's for like $15 a piece

I think it was after the avgn made NES and SNES games big, but no one cared about PS2 quite yet. But yeah I just emulate everything now and it's great. I can play all the classics anytime I want!

Why would you emulate SH2 when you can upgrade the PC port with Enhanced Edition? Yes, emulation is always better than OG hardware, but you should ALSO check if there's a port with fan mods like this one does. Maybe if some of you idiots would simply Google "definitive way to play X" for more than 5 minutes you'd figure it out yourselves.

Not to mention both the lens in PS2 consoles that reads the disks and the DVD disks themselves are dying. People are paying 100 bucks for a PS2 game that won't even be readable in another 5 years or so.

Do all you loser ass collectors even play the games you buy or just keep them on a shelf?

If I had to guess, I have a completion rate of around 10 or 15 percent.
