There’s a massive cognitive dissonance between vtm tabletop players, the people who read the novels, and those who just play the video games. I have been reading the book of nod, and it just slaps so hard. Then i go to the tabletop community to discuss the nature of Caine, only to see very gay posts like pic related, gay and trans fanfiction, and slutty pictures (yes, in lingerie) of some landwhale doing a cosplay of Velvet for the 3498 time. In the best case, you will read about some dude who played as a poc thinblood with vitiligo who blew up a Ventrue tower in LA or something like that. It’s all so tiresome.

Well there's A Mage Reborn, that has Alchemy as one of the possible specializations, probably the one with most special content too. For what it's worth. But it's VERY linear so if you're not looking for that, it wouldn't be the best.
I guess technically playing the gadgeteer archetype in Shriek of Ash and Fire is an artificer, since in THEORY it's all magitech at the core, but you can't really tell half the time.

Increasing indent. Notepad or CSIDE? IDE usually catches these in a quicktest immediately. If romance options intended are that quartermaster girl and Ms. Evans, they don't particularly work - they have far more of colleague or friend vibe. Could simply ax the romance entirely so it would not bother you.

Eh, dunno. Feels like V but PMC, the genderlock reasoning is weak as fuck and the overall vibes only make sense if you pick professional lines. Most of the dialogue choices boil down to:

- be a dumbass
- be normal
- be both a dumbass and an asswipe

Scene with hiding from rival PMC was the most interesting part, although I do not particularly get why there was even a choice between staying hidden or going guns blazing if you end up getting pulled by them anyway. Descriptions of living in LA also were far more interesting than the base section. Could have had more options to try and make yourself look more presentable or try to blend in better to avoid the mandatory pull. Vomit option funny, but feels pretty forced. Also, quicktest and commas. Quicktest would have immediately caught that indent that bricked my run.

I'd say Coteries and Parliament. You struggle, you may achieve something, but MC is always way over their head and needs to think very cruelly to survive. Most companion sidelines were pretty cringy, though not as cringe as Julia's mere existence. Night Road is far more of VTMB core, especially if you choose to help Lettow - trawling through a large lower, gun in hand, alone as a killing machine.

The first one is basically a prologue for the second one that's being written. The wip for it had to be rewritten from scratch because it forced you to willingly work for people most couldn't stand. I haven't played it but supposedly the new demo is for the most part much better about the set up.

A Squire's Tale is pretty tied to english history, Chronicon Apocalyptica has MC as an english monk in pretty low-level fantasy take on saxon England, there is A Road to Canterbury, which I didn't play and which is inspired by Chaucer, Trials of Thief-Taker is another historical fiction take, that's CoG. On HG's side there is Tudor Intrigue.

If you count non-historical works that are still heavily based on British society, there are Tally Ho / Jolly Good, A Midsummer Night's Choice, several Pride and Prejudice books, A Study in Steampunk, Superlatives and Weyrwood, plus Heart of the House. That makes together seventeen or so works if you count them all and six if you count more historical ones. I specifically didn't count arturiana.

It's such a waste, to tell a story about an undying monster and focus on like... a week of their life, or a month tops. The fanbase is definitely hit or miss, considering the setting is "finished" it doesn't grow a whole lot so the fans are usually older and kinda cunty cause no one plays the tabletop anymore. I think the more interesting takes on vamp happen when the Masquerade is actually taken seriously and works as an active threat. Swansong had its issues, but the threat of the Masquerade and hunters felt like it actually mattered - my favourite segment is still Malkavian protag running away in fear after getting branded by a True Faith priest. If you're insulated from consequences of fuck-ups or they end up feeling incredibly gamey, it doesn't really work as well.

They do kinda simplify the involved splats to a similar degree, don't really ever involve them to the same degree and in the same variety. Bloodlines lowkey had a veritable parade of various splats, while in your average game you'll only really interact with your own and its relevant designated enemy faction plus maybe an occasional hunter or such.
Anyway, I'm more talking about the impression of WoD as a setting that Bloodlines gives being far more cohesive than it actually is. The splats are very self-absorbed and the more you know about each, the harder it becomes to conceptualize them inhabiting the same space. Hunters are pretty easy to slot-in since Hunters Hunted that begat them was a subsplat book to start with and as such they don't really have a cosmology and metaphysical gimmicks of their own hence why Reckoning that attempted to give them such was promptly ignored and discarded, but with something more fleshed out like Werewolves pieces just don't really fit together without very aggressive homebrewing and pruning on your part - at which point those aren't really the Werewolves for Werewolf: the Apocalypse.
