this could be very fun and I've been considering it for quite a bit - if we can reach a consensus on which server we host on and the general ruleset (one match to win? best of 3? switching builds/teams allowed?) we should be fine. All games won't even need to be hosted at the same time, so we can be much more flexible on that front.
I'm more than willing to organize start gathering data if enough anons are willing

About to go to sleep, but I'd join as well.
A /vst/ league sounds fun cause you barely find pvp matches anymore since Limit Break was introduced.
>if we can reach a consensus on which server we host on
If anons are fine with using different teams we could even play on multiple servers. I've got a team on the Asia server and another one on the EU server.

There's been a lot of discussion over the new character's SP types but I'm going to give my shot at guessing what some of the new advanced classes will play like and what masteries they will be able to use. Some of these classes were already in the code for AC but I'm too lazy to get that information so I could be verifiably wrong on many of these.

>Ari - Bard
I'm betting this will use the performance mechanic and can use musician/singer masteries.
Since her other class is hunter, being able to place traps and summon/unsummon beasts to get your desired performance effect when there are no enemies to target will make it easier to use than Leton's superstar.
If it's not a performance class, then I think it will just be a supportive class, having abilities that give de/buffs.

>Claudia - Astrologian
I think this will be shaman + scholar. She does seem like a bookish type which fits the scholar class and I can't really think of any other basic class that would combine with shaman to create an astrologian. I have no idea how it will compare to witch though.

>Tyra - Desperado
Contrary to ranger which is focused around cover, status effects, and responsive attacks, I think desperado will be about big single target damage to fit with the cowboy theme, maybe it will also focus on chain-killing and being exposed, being the sweeper equivalent for pistol users. None of the gunman advanced classes have secondary basic class masteries so I don't think this one will either.

cont.

>Lumi - Marksman
While marksman IRL are still long-range shooters, they operate at a much closer range than snipers, so I'm guessing this class will be suited for that. Instead of focusing on the sight mechanic like sniper does like being out of sight of the enemy, marksman will probably have more speed/AT reduction to make up for being unable to chain kill and being more vulnerable. Maybe it will also give bonuses to being in cover and using responsive attacks, like ranger but for sniper rifles. Since marksmen IRL often use assault (or battle) rifles as well as sniper rifles, maybe we'll see enemy marksmen using assault rifles to give more variety to that weapon type.

>Reed - Trickster
I think class might be thief + clown, giving us a character with a secondary performance effect (like Irene's martial artist), and being able to force enemies out of cover sounds like a cool use for a stealth character.

>Yuri - Red Mage
In Final Fantasy (which Troubleshooter obviously takes some inspiration from), red mages are a jack of all trades, being good at offensive (black) magic, supportive/healing (white) magic, and physical damage. I think the class will be elementalist + priest, giving a good mix of offensive and supportive ESP masteries, and priest fits with Yuri's spoonist background.

>Azul - Dragoon and Spear Magician
These will obviously be analogous to Great Swordsman and Magic Knight like for sword users, with Spear Magician being able to use elementalist masteries.

I saw somebody say that the sequel will have day 1 mod tools and I really hope one of those tools is something that converts OGRE model files into any other file type that can be used by other programs. Its the one tool I wish AC had before they started going all in on only working on the sequel.

I know for a fact that at least 1 other anon and myself are up to participate.
With that being said, I ask the rest of the thread - would you be willing to participate in a friendly local tournament with other /vst/ anons?
If you said yes, then please answer the following questions:
>What server(s) do you have available teams on?
>If the most populated server among anons will NOT be the one your company is on, would you be willing to create a new company?
If we can get at least around 5 people on the same server, we can start going further with this, I think. We'll establish the rules further down the line if we can get past the initial number of participants threshold.

>Ari - Bard
In the data for Abandoned Children, Bard is a class that inherits from Archer and Musician. You're almost certainly correct that it's a performance class. AC's data is inconclusive because only Dancer and Clown have performances implemented, and advanced classes inherit their performances from the base class instead of having them defined in their class data. That's how Cheche gets Clown performances as a Superstar.
>>Claudia - Astrologian
>I think this will be shaman + scholar.
In Abandoned Children it's a pure Shaman class, but they might change that. Scholar has some interesting overlap with Shaman so that'd be sick.
>Tyra - Desperado
>None of the gunman advanced classes have secondary basic class masteries so I don't think this one will either.
Hunter has Archer, it's just that there aren't any of their masteries in Abandoned Children. There's also Assassin which is Gunman + Thief.
I do think Desperado will be a pure Gunman advanced class, though. I'm pretty sure Bodyguard will be Fighter + Gunman, just based off of Roberto and Jean having sliding kicks and Marco having a bash attack for no reason.
>Lumi - Marksman
I wonder if they'll let Lumi just straight-up equip assault rifles? Gravis can apparently use greatswords despite not featuring in his concept art.
>Reed - Trickster
In AC Trickster is a tier 3 class that combines Rogue and Black Mage, so maybe Thief + Elementalist? We don't know if he has ESP though. Thief + Clown might be interesting depending on what Dandy makes for clown masteries. Faye looks like a MA so we'd have 3 different types of performances in the party.
>Yuri - Red Mage
In AC Red Mage is a tier 3 class with Magic Knight + Barbarian, so I think it'll be Elementalist + Warrior. Warrior has a focus on attack power, but it hasn't got any weapon-specific bonuses, and has masteries like Encourage that provide utility to the group. It also has overlapping base masteries with several other characters.

I agree about Azul

Was "Auto Dodging Response" nerfed to make dealing with Destrons easier like Special Armor was?
The description of the base mastery implies that *all* responsive attacks are dodged, and the flavor text seems like an afterthought.
Replaying the game after 1-2 years really makes it noticeable how much easier Destrons (and Mungos too) have become.
Anonymous No.2205400 [Report] >>2205412

Yeah it was, it used to be infinite dodges like Darkness Hunter, and Auto Suppressive Counterattack used to activate on misses as well as hits so the destrons would sit there and rape all your responsive attacking units as you missed over and over.

It is a very, very long way off anything concrete happening. Dandylion was right when they said it would take about 2 years of their development to implement them.
All up with 5 masteries per character per class there would be 130 new masteries to design + about as many sets if you restricted yourself to 5 sets per class per character, so you're looking at about 230 new things all up. I'm not insane enough to try to make new active skills, but that's of little comfort for the sheer amount of design it would take.

>I wonder if they'll let Lumi just straight-up equip assault rifles?
Her first concept art shows her using something that looks more like a designated marksman rifle than a sniper rifle (basically an assault rifle with a longer barrel and usually a larger caliber) almost like Dandy didn't want to commit solely sniper or assault rifles, so that could be true. Depending on the weapon models, Lumi could reuse animations for both types so it wouldn't be too much harder to implement.

>In AC Trickster is a tier 3 class that combines Rogue and Black Mage, so maybe Thief + Elementalist?
We could've gotten something like this for Misty instead of whatever ninja was... elementalist masteries are so much better than shaman ones.

>Elementalist + Warrior
That will probably play like a more offensively-oriented battlemage then, along with some supportive abilities. He's only been confirmed to use bangles but since 3/5 bangle users in AC could also use knuckles, he can probably use those too for more physical-focused red mage builds.

I feel like there also aren't enough mastery slots to make full use for 3 tiers of classes, even knowing that t3 classes will have more slots than tier 2. There would also be so many options to choose from that even the t3 specific masteries and sets would be competing for slots against 1-2 t2 class masteries and 2-4 t1 class masteries. There would probably need to be limit-break sized boards for all that, and it would be a balancing nightmare because there would be so many possibilities that inevitably some would end up completely gamebreaking.

Without including the additional slots from personal attributes and ESP, tier 1 classes have 18 slots and tier 2 classes have 25 slots. If this pattern was kept you'd get 7 more slots for tier 3 classes, for 32 class slots compared to 30 from Limit Break.
Personally I think being forced to specialise despite having a gorillion options is an upside rather than a downside. Every single build that currently works would still work, but you'd be able to take them in more specialised directions if you wanted to, and with 7 additional slots it wouldn't be hard to fit new class masteries.
>and it would be a balancing nightmare because there would be so many possibilities that inevitably some would end up completely gamebreaking.
Dandylion's never cared about that and the game is better for it. But it does raise the fact that such a mod would also need to include new maps or drastically redesigned enemies, otherwise there'd be nothing to use your broken builds against.
I probably wouldn't bother with maps or trying to balance regular enemies for tier 3 classes, I'd just modify the joint drill boards

This is a surprisingly fun build. Also I learned while making it that if you have Ironman in your build, assuming you're not breaking any other sets you can remove Muscle Armour and Solidity and stick Regular Exercise in instead. At max level and the ~4000 HP this build has, it works out to be identical max HP, around 200 armour lost, but 300 resistance and a Defence slot gained.

Even though it's time consuming for not real good rewards I like the usage of the draki hatching mechanic to get special draki tames. The devs making intentional uses for what was probably originally an emergent mechanic shows a lot of care and passion. I hope there's more stuff like that in the sequel, although fags on the Steam forums would probably complain that they would have to do more grinding to 100% the game instead of just ignoring the obscure collectibles they don't need.

With modding tools it might be possible for the English-speaking Troubleshooter community to fix any translation issues left in the game.
Dandylion is just five Koreans who subsist entire off of instant noodles so I can't really fault them for not having a perfect English translation but the game is still playable and legible.

It's pretty easy to fix particularly bad lines, but improving the overall quality in any meaningful way is a really big task. There are 28863 lines of story-related dialogue and 24640 lines of system text (masteries, items, etc).
My first language is English (forma di Strayan) and I think it's generally pretty understandable as it is, especially before the first DLC. It uses 『』a lot, but most uses of them are concentrated in a few places throughout the game.

Is it just me or does it seem like certain characters and beasts level up slower than others? It seems like it takes a long time to get a draki to level 36 to evolve it and the DLC characters seem to take longer to get to 55/60 than the base game characters.

including myself (who has a save on EU, but i'm willing to branch) this makes for (potentially) 5 anons. The most popular server options are Asia and EU. If the two anons with saves on NA and Asia only are up for making saves on EU, we can settle there. If not, I'll make a save on Asia but you'll have to give me anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month, i'm really busy with work most of the time, so I hope noone's in a rush

The experience needed for each level varies depending on race, but other than that it's probably just who you're using to kill units the most. Units that leech exp only get 1/3rd of the experience. There's also a lot of exp fuckery regarding the level of the unit you're killing enemies with compared to the recommended level of a mission.
If you want to level up fast, run high level maps and have your low level unit deal killing blows, even if you're not getting Perfects or Overkills it's still going to end up getting a fuckload of exp. I like to put Final Blow on my beasts to help with that.

Exp.xml from the game files which has the full list of how much exp you need to level certain things

Ah, the level difference things is probably what was making it seem like my units were leveling a lot slower. I was using 46v and later 50v to level my beasts/drones (and Misty) but since all the units I was killing shit with were 55 or 60 I was losing quite a bit of exp. A shame since I can't yet easily full clear violent cases past 50v without having also using a high level drone and beast.
I'll try using final blow from now on.

OK, I tried my hands at a chart to visualize the situation.
Anons 1 to 5 go from left to right in the order they responded to the original post.
The way I see it, our best options would be EU or Asia, but it's dependent on how willing each of you are to actually start a new company and get them ready for PVP.

thank you for the effort! Yeah I'm waiting on a response from the two anons - if the anon on NA wants to join in on the happening and if the anon on Asia has started on EU already or not. If he did, I'll just stay on EU and it'll make my life a bit easier. If not, I'll start on Asia this weekend.
Meanwhile I'll start thinking of potential ruleset variants and we'll put it to a poll afterwards (if it's cool with everybody else)

That sounds good to me. Maybe we can all agree on some restrictions beforehand, like not using Curse Anne (although that'd be fine with me). I think that any build has an intuitive enough counter build available.

there are a lot of things I'd like input on in terms of how we do it, so I don't think simply making a post here and the rest replying to it will work for gathering data properly. I was thinking of maybe making a poll through google forms or something similar, but that might require a jewgle account and I'm not willing to subject anons to that. If there are better alternatives, let me know

I think just breezing through the main story on the easiest difficulty to unlock all the stages then switching to hard/cruel to farm for stuff would be the quickest way to go about it. If you know what builds you're going to be using for PvP beforehand you can ignore collecting all the items, masteries, and beasts you don't need. I'm still expecting my leveling to take a couple weeks or longer, though.

>>2217803
I don't see why we couldn't just discuss all that in the thread, or alternatively through the in-game mail system if you need some verification.
