I'm not judging you; it's good for a conversation starter. When I started on my own, I'd read anything I could find because it was rare back in the 1800s, and the internet was a desert.

After taking some courses a few years ago, the teachers gave us some non-tarot book recommendations like The Kybalion, Jungian stuff, but the best way to refine your understanding of them is by keeping practising, taking notes of where you got things right or wrong in your readings, meditate with them, learn about the archetypes they represent and for an added spice, look into the astrological associations as well. Well, that's how I've learned and shared with my mentees as well. In the end, do what works best for you. Best of luck!
