In all honesty, I don't expect volume 22 to do as good as vol 21. Expect another sharp drop a la Asa volume. It's not really that, Asa dying goes completely against her entire character so far, I could see her dying temporarily but every passing chapter makes more likely that she'll "win" in the end. What I fear is for Asa to be treated as a glorified "triangle player". Power also held very little narrative importance beyond emotional (to Denji and Aki) doing one (1) important thing at the end, Power at least justified her existence by being entertaining, especially with her sibling dynamic with Denji and Aki (Asa feels like she matters very little to Denji even).
I thought this was pretty lame for Power, but this treatment for a character like Asa feels pretty absurd, especially with the disparity in panel count between them.

Indeed, that does seem to be her struggles, there is consistent imagery of her "trapped" or "caged" especially in her volume cover.
But there are many ways for Fujimoto to do this poorly and I'm not sure if I trust him after everything we've seen in Part 2 so far. In fact, I already find the idea of sidelining her to demonstrate loss of bodily autonomy and control over her life to be a pretty dogshit decision.

Asa still hasn't proven what makes her "unique" beyond being a vessel for war, Denji in Part 1 also had themes of loss of control and ultimately his importance to every villain was just his Pochiheart (highlighted by the story even), but the story not only never sidelines him but it carefully subverted this idea by constantly showcasing Denji's worth as a "man beyond the chainsaw" with his out of the box thinking and emotional sensibility, hell, the finale is ENTIRELY about that which is why it's so good.

Sincerely, can you really trust Fujimoto to pull something like this with Asa?

The mind reading doesn't matter in this game. Here's why. If lets say Yoshida or someone else gives a paper with numbers or says a word, only the personality that's being questioned decides to think about it. Yoshida for example can ask how a simple noun is spelled in kanji, and while Yoru's supposed to answer Asa can just think about anything but the word, or just intentionally have loud thoughts about something else. Yoru has to write the kanji on her own. If she doesn't know it, then she gets a minus.

It's even harder with counting. Asa can ask a mathematical question, like for example how much is (4x13) divided by 3, and the speed at which each party gets the the answer determines their win or loss. Asa as the other party would only decide to solve it just to check if yoru's right, but only after Yoru already gave her answer. So for the time being, neither would know the answer because Asa chose not to think of it at all. The one who gets the correct answer right fastest, or even gets it right at all, is the one who wins.

And also, reading Asa's mind can work to Yoru's disadvantage. Asa can chose to just pick a random number and convince herself it's the correct answer, and Yoru reading the mind would get it wrong. She answers and it's the wrong answer, they check the calculation and it turns out it's indeed wrong. Yoru rages, seethes, and loses as a result.

Games like that are fun and would be a breath of fresh air considering how brainless the story has been for the last 50 chapters. This scenario is more akin to something you'd see in HunterxHunter or Kaiji.
