Who is "everyone"? I was one of many people on /a/ who were deeply skeptical about Trigger's ability to pull off the same unhinged, zaney, raunchy and just plain fun humor in 2025 that they were able to pull off in 2012.
After all, this is 13 years later.
Not only are the Gainax guys who made PS&G much older and don't have the same young men energy they once had, they're also in a different place culture-wise, being that they're limited in how much they can express themselves by their fealty to western wokeness.
This was something that was already obvious from the moment we saw Garterbelt having his lip color changed from light pink to brown to pre-emptively prevent themselves from offending the west.

I like this idea also because the new season seems to have no idea on how to solve or progress Stocking as a character. Her having evil/differing intentions would suit her more reclusive nature of Season 1 and seeing her being essentially fed up with Panty's lifestyle would've given the series a much needed conflict instead of arbitrarily introducing new ones that don't say anything.

Seeing Panty and Brief work together more would've been cool too, to see them more on equal footing. Like Panty using his underwear more often and Brief getting more use out of his proton pack.
