That's what I think about the event. Either the scriptwriters of anime helped to devs, or these devs really love anime. Because they understood it's better than many others viewers. This doesn't mean that I'm calling the viewers dumb, it just means that the devs were interested to understand anime, but the Chinese audience probably isn't particularly interested

Why I think this way - well, because the character conflict (from what i seen) is very similar to the conflict in the anime, if not identical. Umiri and her betrayal trauma, Saki and her mother issue
I think these words are called exposition? Anime mostly doesn't try to explain things straight ahead, but the game does. This is how the dialogue between Saki and Umiri looks like (this is a translation) "To be used and abandoned over and over again... Is this the life you want? The kind of trust you're looking for? You've been here so long that you don't want to hurt anyone.I see you have a guitar case. Is that your bass? Umiri, you don't have to endure this pain. Umiri... Come with me."

So, they are told about Umiri problem in a nutshell. She is abandoned and betrayed, so she desires trust. The same thing with Saki
Yeah, it's not entirely clear in the anime, but seems to have a lot of hints and a whole episode, but Saki misses her mother and can't forget her. And the game shows it very well. Just like the manga actually, so maybe bandori scriptwriters helped to devs after all

Even the idea that Saki wants to leave the world of fantasy reflects her problem, in my opinion. Forget and let go. Morpheus was shown her an ideal world, but she has already overcame all this and wants to return to the reality. Roughly speaking, she wants forget and move on

You can say the same about Tomori.

The entirety of Mygomujica's story is framed around Saki's journey. I wouldn't call her the MC of MyGO, but her story drives everything. In MyGO, CRYCHIC and Saki were the constant presences looming over everything. Ultimately, CRYCHIC itself represented another failed attempt by Saki to attain happiness.

She is, by far, the most important character in the Newdori canon. Even when she isn't present, she has an outsize influence on the plot. She and the effect she's had on other characters are what pushes the plot along.

As a corollary, this is also why the plot points that are not directly related to Saki will always take a backseat.

I think it was a pretty deliberate writing decision and the biggest departure from Olddori anime. It makes for a much tighter, more compelling narrative. I personally don't think every character needs the same or similar amount of focus on the anime. Not everyone needs to be as important to Saki. Taki, Raana, Umiri, and Nyamu have their own roles to play, and frankly, I'm glad to see that whatever character arcs they have are not directly tied to Saki. It gives them space to be fleshed out and grow in a completely different way. It may not be super consequential to the main plot, but it can still be meaningful to these characters, all the same. Side materials matter, too. And it's this distance from the main plot that can really fuel fans to expand the setting in our minds.

Personally, I think it's fun. Seeing artists and authors give their take on the characters gives me a lot of pleasure. Look at Umiri, for example. Fanworks have taken her almost jokelike treatment in Mujica and taken them to widely varying but still fun and/or emotionally satisfying ends.

There isn't any need for that however. While it's obvious there is a disbalance in terms of screentime dedicated to some of the characters, that doesn't mean the ones that were affected by this ended up being "underdeveloped". As this anon >>282027802 said, they were really well characterized in spite of their short amount of screentime, to the point that even on these threads you can find countless of posts and discussions dedicated to them, with the sole exception of Raana obviously, but even then she is an actual fun and enjoyable plot-device, static character. There are many examples -as you said- of characters that have had their dedicated episodes or arcs that ended up amounting to nothing in terms of their characterization and such, and I don't think this is the case in Mygo or Mujica at all.
Ultimately, it's not only a matter of how much time you dedicate to a certain character, but rather how you use the time you have available for them, and in my opinion this series (MygoMujica) does so greatly.
Also, you have to take into account the type of story. If it's character driven or plot driven and such. Then the criteria change.

Probably. There is also the fact that the announcement for S3 happened straight up after the final episode finished, so that shook things up a lot too.
