Well Hugtto at least is one of the only few seasons directed by actual talent in the industry such as Junichi Sato (creator of Princess Tutu by the way) and it fucking shows. It’s one of the most mature and darkest seasons that deals with the subject of grief coinciding with Japan’s own grief and inability to move on from their own former economic eras of glory.

It’s on a whole nother level compared to the usual Precure slop season.

For me, the stretch from GoPri to Star Twinkle is the best stretch Precure has (all seasons are really, really great to me except Kira which is still decent). FW to HaCha is about on par to the Reiwa era so far though the former era has more extremes when it comes to good and bad seasons. If I took out the sequel seasons, FW to HaCha era would definitely be better than the Reiwa era but not by too much. I'd say most seasons are good in the sense that I wouldn't mind rewatching them in a few years.

Plot twist time!

Summary for the anons that need it: Shindoine is lost without King Pathogen and scowering the infected lands for him. As she slowly gives up to accept the loss, something appears in a lava pool nearby. Back on Earth the girls are cleaning up the megapathogens. They've grown substantially as the girls can solo the MoTWs and cleanse them solo style. King Blockhead is oblivious to the happenings as the King is too busy being a true leader and building his earthly castle by his own hands. Daruizen appears and informs Blockhead that the cures have managed to escape the infected lands, Blockhead realizes his forces are nearly wiped out and goes the stop the Cures. As the last MoTW nears the refugies, the Cures get in its way and start trying to take down the thing. Blockhead arrives to defend the MoTW and start taking down the Cures. The Cures just can't keep up and are downed and out. Blockhead is mocking the girls when Shindoine appears and points out a true leader show remove the nuisances. Blockhead agrees and starts charging his spirit bomb. Just as he's about to finish them off, something appears and gobbles blockhead whole; everyone but Shindoine is shocked. Whatever ate Blockhead slowly morphs into the dog King Pathogen; fully restored. King Pathogen sends the leftover MoTW to continue its rampage and the girls are once again back in action. After the Cures cleanse the MoTW, the realize King Pathogen and the other two generals are gone. Slowly the Cures realize they haven't said anything to their family this whole time. The girls go to accept their scoldings, while back in the infected lands King Pathogen demands Daruizen join his body with him; Daruizen runs and is attacked. Next day as Nodoka is doing her morning run Daruizen appears heavily beat up and begging to hide in her body. Grace activates, but can't fight, and ends up running from the pitiful Daruizen.

I have seen Ryuki or Build yet (those are actually the two I plan on watching next) but I usually recommended W to newbies before I watched Faiz. W just barely beats out OOO because of the story ending, but the characters in OOO are better. The two are also a better representation of modern rider than Faiz or Ryuki. Story and direction-wise though, I think more people would be able to enjoy Faiz because it feels more like a drama than a toy commercial with a story
