The anime was not cinematic, it was a high budget adaptation that was completely mismanaged by a retarded director that decided to turn the manga where the guy kills devils with chainsaw hands into a oscar bait-like show and put the budget into irrelevant things like Aki preparing coffee while actual fights were CGI fests.

It was boring, it failed to capture the essence of the actual manga. This is why the true fans, not your reddit tourist friends, hated it and voted with their wallet. And this is also the reason why we got a faithful adaptation with Reze's movie.

I still want to believe in fagimoto, that plot twist at the end of part 2 is going to make a set up for great, back to its peak, part 3. But this no longer is a 9/10 or 10/10 series, it can't be seeing how 1/3 of a story sucks dick.

Your hopes might not be realistic. I really see no reason to believe that the resolution would be great. You can see the finale if you think about it long enough. There will most likely be some Deus ex Machina that saves the world and a bunch of characters die. Unfortunately though, no surprise revelation could be tied into the theme of the manga and characters. Denji is spent and Asa was chewed up so much that we understand her as a slightly realistic sad conflicted character.

I also think Fujimoto is artistically obsessed, so it's so unlikely that he would need to create if he would be lazy or would spend his work time on something he himself despises for profit. I think he's stuck with a story he's compelled to finish because of how he started with Asa. I could understand that. Asa deserved something. It's just that the manga itself suffered the CSM fate, it got worse and worse, messier and more grotesque chapter by chapter with no way out.

Part 3 as you described won't work. It's impossible to bring back the old characters and have a good manga on par with part 1. They played their roles and they're done. New characters needed for new stories. I honestly don't want any more CSM. I'd rather have my favorite mangaka create something different and unique. How CSM actually was and can never be again.

I think it's a given due to the massive success of the movie that we are only getting films for the rest of Part 1. Next movie will be International Assasin and then to wrap it up Gun + Control movie as a grand final.

With the compilations included Part 1 anime adaptation would amount to a grand total of 5 movies. Pretty neat and unique if you ask me.

I do think there is a running theme of self sacrifice throughout CSM. Himeno for Aki, Aki for Denji and Power, Power for Denji, Asa for Yuko and vice versa, Nayuta for Denji, Gun and Tank for Yoru, Fumiko’s “fake” symbolic sacrifice to power up Yoshida and save herself. And a shit ton more like Quanxi offering herself up for her girls, etc. etc.

The series started with Pochita sacrificing himself for Denji, I don’t think it’s a stretch to imagine that Denji will at some point make the ultimate sacrifice himself. It’ll probably be at the end of the series, unless Fujimoto wants to try and get experimental and make a whole part centered around the after effects of Denji leaving the story.

I read the manga and knew everything Makima was about. The direction for the Seiyuu was still a poor choice in respect to that. Makima speaks with confidence and dominance. The problem with the VA wasn't the voice, but its airiness. The direction they went in was to make her seem innocent and innocuous to contrast with what she really is. But Makima, even from the very beginning, speaks with authority and gravitas wherever she goes even when she was a mystery. The voice-acting didn't convey that to me.

Part 2 really suffered from lack of a "serious" subplot to compensate for the random insanity and crazy twists turning the events on their head. And by serious I don't mean serious things happening, I mean having characters treating the world seriously and grounding the series.

Part 1 always had a melancholic subplot to mirror Denji's high octane clown show. Aki and Himeno's during Yakuza, Aki and Angel's during Reze (and Reze herself), both Tolka and Aldo's during the asssassin arc, Aki one final time before and through the gun arc before Denji suddenly had to get real and shoulder all the horror up until the end.

I'd say Part 2 had it early on, back when Asa had Yuko, but once the latter died something got lost. Afterwards you had stuff like fucking Nayuta and the dogs dying but Denji was just going for sushi or the whorehouse in between such horrible events. He suffers and gets depressed but immediately bounces back into gags, and Asa simping for Denji or occasionally traumadumping her shit past isn't enough to ground things.

It didn't take that long for anyone with eyes to tell she was a highly manipulative person that doesn't care about those around her and pursues her own mysterious goals. It's not like you found that much out about her when she killed Reze in the first place. I can't imagine most Makimafags only started liking her after that. I agree to a certain degree, but she does speak more with authority when it's needed and the fact that everyone around her reacts as strongly as they do despite her seeming not that threatening on the surface is good as well to me. Too me she never spoke with that much authority, it was just that everything about her made it so that her authority was respected even when she doesn't speak with much gravitas in the first place. It will make the end of part 1 that much better when she completly drops the act.

So the Control Devil was actually always also Conquest, one of the 4 Horsemen Devils? It would explain why Makima was strong enough to actually hurt the Darkness Devil temporarily, even though the Horsemen Devils are still below the Primal Fears in terms of power

Makima's success is in execution. Not even about what she does, but the care that Fuji crafted her with. From the jump, you know she's bad news, but it's all a mystery, and it doesn't matter if she's bad so long as she's on your side. That is the false relief that Fuji fills the reader's mind with.

For most of P1, it was "other people" antagonizing Denji and co. You didn't have to focus on Makima when there were more immediate threats, and Makima was always helping. But the imagery was clear. Each of those villains noted something extreme or deadly about Makima so the reader would never forget that she's dangerous. Then Gun Devil appears and jobs almost instantly to her, and you learn that everything was a smokescreen. Now you have to deal with Makima, the person carrying the entire organization, and it's a shitshow.

P1 was too good, man.

I don't buy the idea that darkness was stronger than her, she went in there with zero hesitation. Makima was alive for very long and this is allowed her to gain a lot of contracts. She was very close to commanding strongest devil but got too cocky

it's a quirk of the Japanese language, where the biblical "conquest" is best translated as 支配, even if it's not entirely correct. The bible in general is a very difficult text to translate, because the first horseman, riding the white horse is clearly not 征服 or 克服. 支配 captures the meaning and nuance of the White Rider best.
It's an understandable translation issue, this definitely one of those cases that are better solved with a translation note.

This. That confidence and gravitas that makes her able to dominate those around her isn't something she just conveys by speaking in a strong/harsh tone. It's the fact that she can speak this nicely and have everyone either be terrified of her or obey her willingly and gladly that immediately stands out. She does view humans like pets and is very affectionate towards those she owns when it's appropriate/she feels like it. She isn't any more cruel than she needs to be; she doesn't have a thing for torturing her puppies or something. Dogs simply aren't on her level and she won't mind in the slightest if she needs to put one down.

Personally, the moment felt kind of like bullshit to me when I first read it until I thought about it. I knew she was powerful, but after establishing Darkness as this demon so much more powerful than Gun and fighting him and being able to leave at all I was seriously confused as to who she could possibly be. Even if she's supposed to be a strong devil, what devil could fight Darkness and yet go about everything in the story in such a roundabout way? Thinking back it's actually pretty well done, but I got annoyed as the story didn't make sense to me back then.
