It's over once you start feeling stupid if you see a word you don't know, then reading won't be fun for obvious reasons, so try to prevent that.
Also graphic novels are different than comic books and some are very high quality. So I also recommend looking into that, though they can be quite expensive to buy new.

You have to tell yourself that you and your friends are different, and that just because their way of interacting can make it seem as if they stand out more, that doesn't mean that they won't appreciate you or your way of interacting, even if at first glance they seem indiferent. You should understand how you really interact with people and feel comfortable in that.
