>You say it’s “neither” but that’s just dodging. If the hunger isn’t for God, and it isn’t for growth, then what is it? Pretending it’s nothing doesn’t make the fire go away.
you're right
i think i've felt the feeling OP describes, and i think it gets stronger and more anxious the more empty/frustrating your life feels
so maybe it's just some basic craving to not live in a warzone, or to have a hospitable meaningful life
something is missing from most people's lives for sure
>the institution thrives on dependence, not empowerment.
that goes for literally any institution at any scale, good or bad
families, militaries, workplaces, nations, human bodies
real individual empowerment IS to be a cancer cell towards whatever hierarchies you're a part of
if you're so individualistic that you consider all forms of hierarchy/organization bad, then shouldn't you live as a monk & not use fiat currency & create your own food?
or do you NOT think all institutions thrive on dependence?
>Yes, churches can “enhance” lives, but let’s not confuse community potlucks with spiritual truth. A warm building and friendly faces don’t change the fact that the institution thrives on dependence, not empowerment.
i don't know how to contend with that
the feeling OP describes can be staved off by that "enhancement", warmth, a place in the world, hospitable conditions, singing, etc, wouldn't you think so?
do you think someone well-adjusted from a supportive family would be more likely to feel the anxious "hole" OP describes, or someone who grew up in very bad circumstances? i think it would be the latter, but i don't know what that proves
>Better to project and seize than to shrink and deny.
is that always true? is it self-evident?
i think it's ridiculous to say that
