How do you have your oats, /ck/?
I've taken to dicing a small apple in halfway through cooking them with a bit of cinnamon and a pinch of salt.

Typically overnight oats, yogurt/protein powder/milk until it comes together. Add fruit in the morning and some kind of nuts for a crunch.

So cereal is basically a descendant of oatmeal. The best cereal imo is not the one eaten immediately after dumping in the cereal into milk, and not 10 minutes after, but like a minute or two after so that it's still crunchy while having a little of the milk soaked inside. To me, it's basically the enjoyment to eating pasta al dente.

Oatmeal, I like to have in a similar way. I prefer rolled oats, since they hold their integrity more, while for instant oatmeal, I really don't like since it's really easy to get them soggy fast. I don't like eating almost pure baby mush, but I know this is just a preference.

Along with the obvious normal way to eat oatmeal, I do like the overnight oats way using greek yogurt instead of just milk or water. I bet kefir wouldn't be a bad choice.
Sugar can come from fruit (apples, banana, or berries) or honey. Yeah, fall spice stuff is nice. I bet chinese 5 spice might not be a bad thing either. Yeah, a little salt is always good.

Idk man, you're asking like, how do you like to have your cereal. Don't know how many different answers you can get

I love oatmeal but I tend to avoid it because I can eat a huge bowl of oatmeal and still be fucking starving afterwards.
Anyway - I always use a lil ground ginger with cinnamon, maybe going all the way with nutmeg and clove if I'm feeling it.
Usually do half whole milk half water, little honey on top..
Try steeping a basic black teabag in your cooking liquid for a few minutes at the start, tea-flavoured oatmeal is fantastic

>Oatmeal isn't healthy...

Plain, it's healthier than many processed foods at that price point and it only spikes your insulin when you eat a lot of it. The pesticide remains only in trace amounts, but most of it is gone when they steam and roll it and nonexistent if you buy it organic.

Or you can buy them even more processed, but ready to eat and with less calories per 100g. I think the sugar in picrel is only there for the maillard reaction when they're baked on the line.

You want to eat the cooked grains like savory granola not made with garbage ingredients. I know what you're talking about and I've tried to achieve this.

Put about 30g into a bowl and gradually add enough water just to get the grains wet, add a bit of salt, and put the bowl in the microwave for about 5 minutes. They'll cook and dehydrate. If the result is sticky oats, then that means you used too much water.

You are just admitting to being extremely low IQ. I can't believe I'm responding to your stupid post.
A lack of data does not suggest anything at all. Most of the centenarian craze is focused on small groups of elderly ethnic groups in Japan or the Mediterranean that exclusively eat food that is accessible to them and their culture. If the Okinawans were the only group studied, are you going to accuse every food that isn't rice or fish of being a fake health food? This is just retarded. You are not able to understand data. You are not able to understand food or nutrition. I have multiple centenarians in my family living up to 110 years old and they all lived off of porridge when they were older.

I like making it overnight with milk/yogurt/fruit/nuts but have been experimenting with savoury kinds. In a rice cooker I've been adding:
>3 cups steel cut oats (rolled oats turn to mush)
>3.5 cups water with powdered stock / liquid vegetable stock
>A few forkloads of kimchi
>Handful of peanuts or cashews
>Shake some dried fenugreek over the top
>A few dried shitake or oyster mushrooms
>A bit of soy sauce and sesame oil
And putting as many eggs into the steamer tray that will fit, or 4ish on one side and a fistful of spinach on the other to wilt. Not my photo but very much related

Humanity has a long history of taking things that shouldn't be edible, and making them edible. This ability to get nutrients out of almost anything, has helped us to flourish all over the globe. Acorns are bitter and toxic, until you boil and rinse them several times and leach out all of the tannins. Several Scandinavian countries traditionally eat rotting fish. Japanese eat rotting soybeans, and alcohol, the result of letting grain water mold, is consumed worldwide in the millions of gallons.
