A good theory, but their age gap could have meant limited interaction and we don't know how long she was missing before he ended up trapped. If, say, she's been in there for 5 years, he would have 17ish when she vanished. I actually realized I've never thought about Jax's and Zooble's relationship to eachother till now. I figured that (in terms of the adventures) Ragatha and Jax existed on opposite ends of a spectrum; with Ragatha representing a more sincere (albeit performative) engagement with the adventures while Jax represented a more derailed (albeit enjoyable) engagement.
I never thought about there being more than one axis. In his own way, when he can, Jax always goes full-tilt on adventures. Zooble sits them out whenever possible.
I don't know if Jax truly enjoys the circus or is simply pretending to. Or if he wants to stay there indefinitely or escape. But regardless of what he wants Zooble probably isn't much help in that goal. And I think there might be a small bit of resentment from Jax because of that. Hence why he was sort of picking at them in the bar.
My main concern is that since Zooble is sort of a proxy for Gooseworx themselves (and since Jax has already sort of been characterized as "that asshole") they aren't really going to be called out for being a depressive, mopey fuck who fixates on their own gender dysphoria while being trapped in a literal digital prison. And that any resolution of their conflict is going to mostly involve relenting on Jax's part.

She pretty much spells it out in the bar scene. Her mother constantly abused and guilt tripped her so now she says whatever she thinks she has to in order to avoid conflict. And Jax knows this.
That's also why Jax was surprised she apologized for the thing she said earlier, because that wasn't the conflict that was presently happening. Going back to an earlier conflict to resolve it isn't something she normally does.

It's actually kind of spooky how I know people who have these exact emotional problems. I know one guy who refuses to even watch it because of how close Gangle is to his own situation.
