With what has been set up, in my opinion, it would be the best outcome for both characters. They have enough parallels and similarities to make me think they can complement each other very well. The thing is, Stolas never struck me as the manipulative type, at least in proper canon and unlike the pilot. The deal with the Grimoire was sketchy, I agree, but the alternatives were Blitzo returning the book to Stolas permanently and Blitzo having to find another way to Earth or Blitzo getting executed for stealing a Goetic artifact. Stolas was rather blunt with that deal anyway, just a night of fucking a single day a month and no further strings attached, unlike pilot Stolas, who wanted Blitzo to do jobs for him. Maybe you can count the Loo Loo Land job as manipulation, but to me, it didn't come out of malice. He just wanted to spend more time with Blitzo, at the cost of spending time with his daughter, because he's an oblivious moron.
Stolas in the show proper comes off as an oblivious, pompous, rich asshole. But again, to me, it doesn't come from a place of malice. It's more of a disconnect and lack of understanding of the lower classes. The timeline is post-Mastermind, right? In my opinion, he should be a bit more depressed and slightly less horny, since he's off his meds. Sinsmas, at least, did make a point of showing Stolas not returning Blitzo's hug. He doesn't use diminutives as much now and calls Blitzo by his proper name now. I really hope this is how the show will handle it from now on, anyway. No more referring to Blitzo as 'my' Blitzy, since Stolas should start seeing Blitzo as a person rather than a sex toy or a character from a romantic novel.
