Yuri Semenov and Maxim Gorky HARSHLY on sexual relations under capitalism:
All this leads, and in many respects has already led, to the disappearance of the greatest value acquired by humanity in the course of its development — love between man and woman.
“From ancient times,” wrote Maxim Gorky (real name Alexei Maksimovich Peshkov; 1868–1936), “the great poets of all peoples and all epochs have passionately devoted their creative powers to ennobling this act (sexual — Y. S.), to adorning it in a way worthy of man, so that man would not be equated in this with a goat, a bull, a boar. Hundreds and thousands of beautiful poems have been created that glorify love. This feeling has played the role of stimulating the creative forces of man and woman. By the power of love, man became a being immeasurably more social than even the most intelligent of animals. The poetry of earthly, healthy, active romanticism in the sphere of relations between the sexes had enormous social and educational significance…
Then came the fat predator, the parasite living off the labor of others, the half-man with the slogan: ‘After me, the deluge.’ He came and with his fat feet trampled everything that had been created out of the most delicate nerve tissue by the great artists, the enlighteners of working people. To him, the fat one, woman is not needed as a friend and a human being; for him she is only entertainment… In the world of the fat, “same-sex” love is spreading epidemically. The ‘evolution’ experienced by the fat is degeneration.”
If earlier the disappearance of love was characteristic of the upper layers of bourgeois society, now this process is encompassing the whole society. And a huge role in this is played by the mass media, above all television.
From sexual relations, everything human is being stripped away. Everything is reduced to physiology.
