I can't get into the melodrama in EU, I haven't really gotten enough of a major reason to get attached to anybody. Things just happen and Optimus acts distressed about it, and that's about it. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to it originally.

>the pre-movie female autobots predate her
Elita and co were designed after the crew realized Arcee was gonna be a thing, they just happened to beat Arcee to screen debut. But really, they have the same issue as her.
>have you considered that maybe fembots look like that because it's fun?
I don't think it's fun, i think it's boring and lame. Transformers has had so many fun and interesting robot designs, but the girl ones only get to be regular humanoid robots wearing backpacks.
Look man, I love many regularly-proportioned male TFs like Optimus and Hot Rod, sure; but it's not as if they represent the single and only bodytype male TFs are allowed to have.
>yeah dude, gobot designs look GREAT. pic rel is how definitely how female transformers should look
That one looks hilarious, I love it. Hell yeah, give me more cute/dorky designs like that; I love the G1 minibots.
Most importantly though, that design looks like a robot that transforms into a car - as opposed to a humanoid robot that has a couple wheels or wings stapled on. Yawwwwn.
>what's wrong with that?
The vaguely motherly bit, mainly execution. That type of character doesn't make sense to be on the front lines of a war, and TF is a series about war. TFA got around this by making her a civilian (and a spy disguised as a civilian), and I think would've been interesting to see her as a teacher interacting with Sari in S4 - but as it stands, her only existing presence was to be effectively a comatose plot device for progressing RATCHET's character. Nothing wrong with that, and it made Ratchet's character more powerful, but it didn't exactly do much for Arcee herself.
