Alright look, I'll just say how I feel about this whole thing.

I think Mike is a little shit, or at least he was turned into one. Lucy is right in this case, saying that Mike was stringing her on as well. What he did on Eternal Flame was awful, crying pathetically to get Lucy's sympathy, then kissing her and giving the idea that he wanted to be with her, only to magically change his mind on the very next day. Unthinkable, very unrealistic, and for no reason at all, considering he had all the evidence being with Sandy at that point was a terrible idea.
He is also, at the same time, a spastic maniacal gremlin and a spineless pathetic worm. What makes it sad is that HE WASN'T always like this, he was a standard protag, magically and tragically turned into shit by the plot.

Lucy was meant to be a tsundere. Her bonks and slaps and whatnot are a bit grating at times, but they were supposed to not be taken seriously. That being said, over the years her behavior became more and more erratic, bossy and mean, towards everyone in general. Also, her whole suicide thing was completely irrational, and, while Mike was shitty towards her, they talked it out, and I feel like her actions were unwarranted; Ever since she has been mostly completely awful.

These days, Eternal Flame is looking like a real good example of Taeshi refusing to keep Lucy on the hook for anything she does. The comic has only held Mike accountable for EF once, via Augustus, and promptly accepted gray cat's explanation even while the readers did not. Augustus only cares about Lucy's reaction toward Mike while white cat herself does not give a fuck about anything other than the most ancient of dramas. I have to conclude that EF is not meant to be held against Mike. So it's very, very strange that Taeshi had Mike randomly go all seductive bedroom eyes with the scarf line and totally forget about Lucy come next morning. Both were tremendously out of character for him and fairly indefensible in-universe, despite the comic's insistence.

Now consider what would have happened if Mike had just mentioned the scarf line to make Lucy feel better about herself. He very clearly recognized her insecurity over Sandy, what with the tree shit, and she had just helped him out despite everything, so of course gray cat would feel grateful. Imagine if Lucy had the same canonical reaction and kissed him, surprising them both, then launched into denial mode right after. The trouble I caused others was mostly deserved. It sounds selfish but I'm 100% on this. Violence is the supreme authority and anyone I've gone nuclear on deserved it. My problem isn't so much that I snapped at people for no reason, it was that I couldn't control myself once the switch flipped. Meditation used to help a lot until it didn't. A sweet old lady that lived next to my grandma used to take me after school 3 days a week and it really did wonders for controlling my temper, exploring my triggers, developing healthy coping mechanisms etc. It just took really fucked up day to bring it all crashing down and send me into a self-destructive spiral.
