Yeah, Duel Monsters, at least in og, are all spirits that still have some form of destructive power in the living realm and can be summoned like personas. Ash doesn't really have a reliable way to take them down for good even with Gengar. Also with magic cards he could make them physically stronger than any of his mons.

It depends on how you approach it and what you use. The stakes in the Poseidon saga were that Poseidon, through his vessel Julian, wanted to create a new deluge and establish an Atlantean utopia. Then you have the big pillar in Atlantis which the Libra Cloth's weapons couldn't even scratch and those were said to have destroyed stars in the past but which Seiya busted with a weaker setup than what was needed to take Poseidon out.
Hades evidently created the Hyperdimension and Elysium. The former was a gateway dimension into the latter, but it contained billions of galaxies. Both dimensions collapsed when Hades was killed by the Bronze Saints and Athena at the end of the Hades Saga. Poseidon used pretty casual interdimensional telekinesis to send a bunch of gold cloths flying into Elysium through the Hyperdimension while he himself was on Earth and weakened due to being sealed.

It's starts off with Liko receiving a pendant from her Grandmother as a gift for attending a new school. While at her new school, she was intercepted by these group of people who only wanted her pendant. They are known as the Explorers and current major villain we meet is named Amethio. As he tries to kidnapped Liko, she was then saved by a Pokemon Professor named Friede. He main pokemons are Pikachu and Charizard... yeah, can't get rid of them. As he saved Liko, her pendant actives and it is reveal to be the third legendary pokemon of Scarlet and Violet, Terapagos sleeping the whole time.

As they escaped her school and start traveling the world, they meet the next protagonist, Roy. Roy had an ancient pokemon that had a Black Rayquaza (shiny) inside of it and it fled looking for it's partners. There Liko and Roy join forces to hunt down this Rayquaza, learn why it was stuck in the pokeball for so long. While traveling on a flying ship, they met Dot who was the next protagonist.

As the story keep going, it is reveal that the Liko is actually the great granddaughter of this hero, known as Lucius who's pokemon were the Black Rayquaza, Arboliva, Galarain Moltres, Lapras, Kleavor, and Gouging Fire. She is also the great granddaughter of the hero's partner Rystal, who was the original owner of the Terapagos. It is also reveal that the villain of the main story of Part 1, was Gibeon, a partner of both Lucius and Rystal, who was still alive even after 100 years. His pokemon is a White Zygarde and his grandson is Amethio.

Roy goal is to become stronger so that Rayquaza can recognize him and become his partner and Dots is to eb come more sociable as she is a live streamer, learning about the outside world.

Be mindful, I just left out TONS of details, but that is the main plot for part 1 before the time skip.

Its genuinely difficult to guess, these guys have pretty on-par feats and abilities. Both of them have relevant in-game wins against enemies of similar scale and power as the other. Clive is no slouch in combat, but I think its safe to say that Dante is the better fighter. Clive's magical abilities, however, more than even the playing field there.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Clive has a slight advantage in that via Phoenix he has abilities that do unavoidable AOE damage and also heal him substantially at the same time. Dante primarily heals by absorbing orbs/souls from downed fodder enemies, but in a 1v1 thats not very helpful. Dante can survive incredible damage as long as his heart isn't destroyed or similar specific mortal wounds, but in a battle of attrition Clive's ability to just say "Fuck you, I'm getting 75% of my health back and you can eat this AOE" might be the deciding factor.
