Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.

Just return to your usual deficit and try to figure out what caused the issue, don't try to over-correct and burn all the calories in a few days you'll just burn yourself out even more. You likely binged because you weren't eating sustainably, eating even less sustainably to make up for it will just exacerbate the problem.

as shit as addiction is in all its flavors, it is ultimately an issue of willpower though. there are factors that affect succeptibility to addiction, but ultimately every time a person indulges in their drug of choice, it is a choice. some people are unlucky enough to be polyaddictics, or pint-of-80-proof-a-day addicts where quitting will kill them or be addicted to things like benzos though, but its not like most addicts are inherently "addicts". im managing to only drink on my days off now, but when i drink i drink in excess because i drink to get drunk.

knowing that alcohol has a fuckton of calories helps mitigate my desire to drink because it aligns with my weight loss goal at least. having multiple motivations to quit an addiction is incredibly helpful.

You might not really know how deep the rabbit hole goes, and you might want to keep it that way. When I read this, and I read you're already grappling with it, if you slow down NOW you may avoid crossing the event horizon of no return. It doesn't really matter, and I think you're hyper focusing on the counting to a degree that's not useful anymore. I used to do the same thing, but we're trying to learn healthier eating habits while we're dieting, and sitting around with a spreadsheet and trying to p-hack your weight loss isn't going to work.
Chances right now are, you can just have something low cal like Greek yogurt and a glass of water to fight the hunger enough to go to sleep. Night eating is rarely a good thing.
What matters is average calories over a longer period, the daily allowance is just to help you choose your meals. As a first thing for you, try and look at your weekly deficit as well as your daily.
You might also benefit from weighing weekly only, since you seem to be a bit too locked in, if you know what I mean.

If in doubt, use the one that will be more likely to get you to eat less.
If you log it for yesterday, you're more likely to accept it with a sort of finality "what happened happened" and overeat. This is the start of self-delusion.
If you log it for today, you'll have to either eat less today (good) or overshoot your daily goal and feel guilt (also good).
Do not ever allow yourself to do something that is bad for you and separate the negative feelings coming from that to sometime else. That's a recipe for disaster.

You should be eating your TDEE-1000 while getting at least .72g of protein per lb of your goal weight.

So many guys get all preoccupied about the numbers, but the numbers don't really matter. Lift and eat less, that's all you need to do until you start to look the way you want. When you're getting close to the teens you can start caring about how your BF% will effect things

That's the plan, but I want to start exercising at home first. Bodyweight for the most part (got a whole lot of weight to lug around anyway), maybe I'll repurpose some 11L water bottles for makeshift kettlebells.

my cutting technique for now:

fast until 3pm
run in the morning

eat Quark w berries and pieces of 90% dark chocolate at 3pm

have a chicken salad with a FAT amount of lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and cucumber (vinegar drizzled over w a little bit olive oil) in the evening

have a piece of fruit of my choice with basically 0kcal Jello before bed to still all cravings

down 5kg so far!

Fair enough, just know that you're a prime case for a severe rebound, the moment you get off your crash diet. You would likely profit from a period of a smaller deficit with a long term sustainable diet at some point in journey. From there you can scale up to maintenance.

there's no secret, if you want to eat unlimited calories and not gain weight you gotta keep fat under 30 grams a day. Which is restrictive but basically only eat starches like potatoes, rice, pasta (more of the former two), vegetables, fruit, sugar, fat free dairy, lean meat.

so you could restrict like he is, eat your refeed which can be fatty, then do this a couple of times say 10 or so times or a months worth of fasting then transition to the above.

uh no. basic cico is patently not true. what you eat matters. I am not saying cico isn't true, it's just that there is a lot nuance you are missing out on if you take it too much at face value. I am not denying there aren't people out there who applied CICO by eating a mixed macro diet at a deficit at lost weight, clearly there is, but long term the adherence is crap and people regain weight. but particularly really fat people who need to diet a long time do some serious damage to their hormones while dieting for so long and eating at an energy surplus with 80% of your calories from carbohydrate and keeping fat very low allows their body to recover from the effects of semi-starvation.

To get fat on this approach you'd have to drink syrups, pour half a bag of sugar on your food, and eat and eat after vomiting.

Anyone here noticed changes even if not obviously visible at the start?
I went from 110kg to 100kg which is a loss of 10kg, google says 22pounds.
Now I'm not one to take pictures of myself, so I can only compare "feels".
I feel like my huge pregnancy-like belly hangs a bit less, feels tighter and more attached to my torso.
I also feel less like I'm melting downwards when sitting.
Not significant or visually jarring change, just purely feels.
Breathing is somewhat easier, but since it was a gradual change this might just be cope.

Overall I'm dreading the day I start getting closer to my goal which is 65-70kg (168cm height) because then I'll have to face that I quite literally threw away my youth.
Will be 30 by the end of it.
It's going to be a hell of a rejuvenation either way. Maybe I'll catch my second wind.

Therapy. A few years ago I lost something like 45 kgs and subsequently regained them because I was fueled, primarily, by self hatred in my weight loss. It was not great and turns out getting a healthy weight did not magically fix my psychological issues. Shocker I know.
I got therapy and since then most of that has gone away - I now feel better than I did back then and am back to losing the weight again, hopefully for good this time, but time will tell.
If you have genuine psychological issues - get therapy.
If you have issues but not on that level, consider reading up on awareness (it sounds like a meme but it's not) to get out of negative mind spirals and reinforcement loops, read up on cognitive behavioral therapy approaches to low self esteem and negative self talk and implement those methods in your life, and then adopt an approach of incremental proof: Each time you try to extend out of your comfort zone a tiny bit - then you gather new information, most of which will actually be neutral or positive, which gives you the strength to go further next time. If it's negative feedback, which is rare but happens, use the therapy methods to analyze it and work through it.

Making good progress, today was really good.
Had a great salad at work, little less protein than I'd have liked, but overall pretty good. Most importantly, I'm starting to really feel good with the healthy choices, and not like I'm missing out on anything. Starting to value feeling energetic and light after a meal over the satisfaction of stuffing my face.

I've even got some snacks in the house at the moment and I'm not constantly thinking about having them, those are all good signs I feel. Gonna have some greek yogurt and fresh strawberries and call it a day.

I'll need to reach that weight to get the loose skin surgery of which I expect to be a lot.
I have what basically looks like pregnancy scars or stretch marks all over my body, belly, arms, thighs, probably my back too but I can't see.
I feel like 65kg for a man my height should be decent. It is on the upper half of the "normal" BMI range.
I'm not doing this for looks, just health and comfort.
I feel like 60 is the lowest I'd go and I also want to have some muscle by the end of it.
I'll need a strong back and neck specifically to keep my spine and neck straight, prevent further degradation.
Severe nerd neck, hump, and like 4 hernias / damaged discs currently. Trying to fix all this in the long run.
The skin surgery is also not for aesthetics, but I expect it to be burdensome.
Washing and keeping clean when I have fat rolls is a struggle, doing so with flappy skin (which also stores minor amounts of fat) I imagine would suck even more.
Maybe it's a body type thing also? I'm pretty wide, not just because of the fat, but quite literally "big boned".

I tried electrolytes and had some aspartame sweetened orbit candy the same day.
Almost exploded and shat myself, but I managed to avoid it.
Just sharing the experience, commiserating if you will, no idea how to fix, but I'll share what came to mind as well:

Perhaps check your electrolyte thing if it has any artificial sweeteners. Based on my research they can't be digested and if you (like a good chunk of the population) have some gut issues even undiagnosed it might cause this.
Small amounts are fine, but if it's significant, especially on a fast where it probably accumulates in your stomach it probably is causing issues.
Normally a small amount passes through you as you shit so it doesn't cause issues with stuff like candy etc.

TL:DR; Check for artificial sweeteners. They can cause stomach issues, bloating, diarrhea. It probably accumulates on a fast. Not just aspartame, all kinds of those cause this.

I am actually at a similar body fat and im taking a week off dieting. I'm only gonna go a bit further for another 6 weeks since I'm going on vacation and gonna bulk back up over the next year again. Look for some alcohols you can drink that are socially acceptable (or even liked) and are neither cocktails nor heavy on carbs.
I used to drink a martini when invited to a bar and wanting to drink but not blow my weeks deficit. At first I think people thought it was a bit weird, but they quickly got used to it, it allows you to drink it slowly and there's no 100g of sugar in each one.

Also find some foods that are common in these restaurants and not mega bad - there's usually a curve of badness. If there's a restaurant you often go to, download their card or something and look for a dish that's not horrific.
An example for a cafe we used to go often was they had a breakfast that was just 2 soft boiled eggs, a coffee and a yoghurt with fruit.
Another restaurant we often frequented I chose salads or the chicken and asked them if they could substitute the roast potato it comes with with Krautsalat (I'm german) - they always did.
My point is just because you're somewhere socially and want to partake doesn't mean you have to pig out.

No that's two flavors - though I think combining would work too.
greek yoghurt is basically just greek yoghurt (usually homemade, so extra fermentation flavor), vanilin, xantham and guar gum and a little bit of sweetener.

a lot of guys will tell you to just work through the soreness. you don't want to lose your momentum. you won't be able to lift as much as you could fully recovered but that doesn't really matter. why not work a different muscle group today to maximize efficiency and then see how you feel tomorrow? i think there are foods you can eat that will help with recovery too but i'm not an expert. go check out a thread with a bunch of lifters in it and ask them.

it gets easier. the beginning is always uncomfortable and sometimes painful. when i first started running, i was easily out of breath, covering in stinging sweat, flushed, exhausted. my veins felt like they were pumping battery acid and my lungs felt like they were going to explode. then as the weeks passed, all those feelings went away. i stopped being out of breath, and my heart wasn't racing so much, and i felt no pain or even exhaustion. exercising became exhilarating instead.

lifting weights is a little different. first the DOMS really kick your ass. you can't imagine doing it three or four times a week. then the DOMS goes away, and it starts to feel good to work your muscles. then you start to look forward to it and feel stressed out when something prevents you from doing it.

i think the main problem is that people go way to hard in the beginning. you've got to listen to your body. if it's too much, just slow down and walk for a bit until you catch your breath and your body is ready for more intensity. if you're lifting weights you've got to be sure to eat enough food or it's going to be torture. it's very difficult to juggle lifting weights and cutting at the same time. it's possible to do but it takes experience. the whole point of all of this is to feel better. if you do things right, you will feel good. getting past that first stage is difficult though. most people just give up.

Yeah, I've been there. Hyperfocused on the numbers, locked in hard, but still not at a normal relationship with food. What I'm trying to do most is not to just lose weight, but to learn a sustainable lifestyle.
No point in losing weight super fast if you don't keep it off. Unless you are dedicating your life to bodybuilding, you need to have the ability to be social and go out and not spiral into compulsive thoughts.
In a normal diet, there's room for the occasional drink and restaurant food. Goal is to eat well most of the time and get enough exercise, that you can still be a person. So I try to take situations where I'm forced off my routine to learn how to deal with them. Portion control, choosing the less bad options, and just accepting that it's suboptimal for a bit, but won't matter long term.

And it's because what changed is that i went from 90% visceral fat to 100% subcutaneous fat, i.e the fat moved from in-between my organs and behind my abs, to under my skin, showing how truly fat i really am.

i thought it might be age, but i'm only 25. it could be my unhealthy lifestyle catching up with me. I do look skinnier with a shirt on, but with my shirt off i have more grabbable fat than i did when i was in the 190s for 3 years.

I didn't start losing weight until I stopped buying ALL goyslop and started thinking of it the same way I think of a bag of pet food. As in, I no longer think of a bag of chips or pack of Oreos as fit for human consumption except under dire emergency circumstances. I need to start working out on top of cutting both so I can boost my TDEE and so I look at least a little like a disfigured skinny fat weirdo once the weight starts really going down.
However, I don't really want to go out (yet), meaning no gym and no walking/running. I've got some dumbbells and resistance bands so I can substitute lifting for now, but replacing cardio seems much harder. I don't have the space nor the funds to get a threadmill or an exercise bike. What's a good way to get some cardio in at home without equipment?

No? You're fundamentally misunderstanding what that thing does anon. It's not nicecream. Sure for nicecream you can just use a blender (and I used to), but that thing is basically a scaled down pacojet - and the product it makes is entirely different to what you are describing.

I get why they'd explain it that way since it is a cutting blade that is lowered through the frozen solid block, but the final result is distinct in the end.
Though I would agree that there's a few people using it for sorbets and nice cream - it can do those too, and the sorbet texture might be marginally better but neither of these should be a reason to buy one, because as you said, a high powered blender gives you the same result.
