Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

Personally I find Optimum Nutrition's White Chocolate to be the least offensive option on the market. Mixed with a glass of whole milk I'd say its actually pretty good, which is high praise for most protein powders.

It has a mild flavor that isn't too strong, it covers the unpleasant natural flavor of unflavored whey nicely without overpowering it with overly artificial tasting chocolate or vanilla.

If that shit scares you just get unflavored. Or if even unflavored is too scary (because it has Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, and good lord is that Onions?), you can even get 100% pure whey protein. Then you can add Cocoa powder and a sweetener of your own choosing (or not). Just know without the additives raw whey powder clumps a lot, doesn't dissolve into anything without a blender, and tastes fucking dreadful.

In 6 days I lost ~4kg but for the past 4 days the scales haven't moved at all. I'm in a calorific deficit eating roughly 1000-1500 calories a day. And I'm walking an average of about 7 miles a day. Why aren't the scales moving?

Dont know what to do. Im doing a 1500kcal a day diet but im having a hard time knowing what to cook. Ive pretty much just ended up making something like (meat)+(carbs) for lunch and eating something like cereal for breakfast. I've become pretty bored of eating the same shit for weeks. The problem i have with recipes is that when you use the scaling function to scale servings it turns into absolute shit. Would doing meal prep work better? I pretty much cook my meals for the day on the day because I have the time and energy + I love to cook.

When I make soup I just count the meat and carbs/veggies in it.

So I make the soup, and cut half a pound of meat for me.
measure the noodles and veggies.
There are my calories, I don't drink the soup and it should be immaterial since I don't use much/ifany oil.

You can also make containers and just split everything up into equal gram amounts. you put 1 pound of this 1 pound of that you just split it 5 ways

I have been able to habitualize myself to keep a log of my drinking in the notes app of my phone. Every time a bartender is pouring me a drink I will make a note of the drink, its size, and the time. Then I can plug that into a BAC calculator and make a decision about driving home vs uber as well as keep track of the calories.

Also you should just have a limit of 4 drinks. You get virtually no marginal benefit for every drink after 4. It just starts making you more retarded and fat.

How much do you guys think your weight gain was because your lazy?

To me I always thought cooking was a grand ordeal and every dinner meal had to be 5 star restaurant meal with 20 different spices, using 5 different pots and pans and costing at least $50 dollars. It wasn't until I learned how to cook tasty, cheap and fast pasta that I knew I could actually lose weight and keep it off.

mostly because I was stress eating. partially due to laziness.

i just made roasted veggies seasoned with some breading and this shit I could eat everyday.

For anons that weigh themselves once a week, would it be a bad idea to fast the last 2 days before a weigh in and only break the fast after weighing myself? I worry that doing so and seeing any loss on the scale would only be due to the fast and not the actual week long intake/deficit.

Me it was a combo of stress/depression eating and zero access to a kitchen lmao. Sometimes I’d microwave a potato and eat it with a few chunks of rotisserie chicken but more often I’d eat like, frozen Mac and cheese or a takeout.

I was very close to death for a while because of a medical issue that constantly hurt and took away all ability to feel pleasure from pretty much anything but food was an exception. So I figured fuck it, eat, and so I did. Gained about 40lbs over the course of a year, lost it, then gained 40lbs again. It was the correct choice and now the weight has to come off and it'll stay off this time.
I'll be out of this shithole and back to my regular shithole in about a month since I already lost 20bs.

It was good. I went all out:
Seasoning salt
Garlic powder
Rosemary
Thyme
Savoury
Bit of smoked paprika
Dried mustard powder

The chicken gets covered and I also intentionally add a bit of each ingrediant to the water in the pan so it adds more flavor to the gravy. Also normally i would use actual broth instead of water but i didnt have any this time.

This Seasoning combo is also amazing on baked skin on thighs as well, especially since they get crispy, whereas I sacrifice the crispiness of the roast chicken for the sake of having more of the the broth for gravy.

The thighs done that way have been a go to meal for me losing weight because it's an easy meal to count calories for, and they are just packed with flavour with the seasoning so they really hit the spot despite being an extremely "boring" and cheap meal. Two thighs, some potato, and broccoli, some butter and seasoning for the potato, and you're good go

Idk man I feel like you're already kind of obsessing over it to make the post in the first place, but that can be a force for good depending on your mindset. Realistically you can weigh yourself as much or as little as you want, what matters is that you keep up the actual diet which is why I said don't skip your fast because that's what actually matters.
In my view the more data you have the better, you can still focus on weekly trendlines even with daily data.
