Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

I went to the doctor today, apparently my scale is off by 10lbs because they weighed me in MUCH differently. I'm 20lbs down from my last visit and the doctor was very happy about that, but I'm not going to get a big head. Just gotta keep up with my metformin as it's really reduced my cravings and artificial hunger.

I'm still wearing my 4x shirts, but I got new pants when I could fit into 2x sweats. I'd say get new underwear whenever you feel they're getting loose and start slipping down easily. Underwear are cheap so I wouldn't wait to replace those. Generally though I'd wait to buy yourself an entirely new wardrobe until you've hit and maintained your goal weight for at least a few months. If you manage to stay at your goal weight it makes sense to now invest in clothes, if you do it too early you might yo-yo out of the range of wearing your new stuff as you dial in your maintenance. Though if your pants are feeling really loose and you have to bunch them up a lot with a belt its probably time to get some new ones even if you have some ways to go. But I'd wait for your goal weight before major purchases, limit yourself to like a pair or two of jeans or sweats on the way down, something relatively cheap as you won't be wearing it long.

That's mostly a buzzword in America and doesn't really mean anything. In Europe it actually has some weight but not here. Regular produce is often just as nutritious and at a lower price point than the stuff labeled "organic."
Just buy minimally processed whole foods and eat lean protein and (far) more vegetables. Make Chicken and Broccoli the core of your diet, and it doesn't have to be specifically those two. You can substitute chicken with any lean source of a complete (read: animal) protein (lean pork, lean ground beef, salmon, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, egg whites, turkey, shrimp ect), and broccoli with any leafy green vegetable (caulifower, cabbage, kale, bok choy, brussels sprouts, collard greens) if you want variety. Point is cutting out all the ultra-processed shit is a good first step to eating better. At your weight you probably won't even need to count calories for the first hundred pounds. Its pretty hard to overeat chicken and broccoli, your TDEE is like 4000+ calories. You could eat 1kg of chicken and 2kgs of broccoli everyday and still lose weight at your size. Liquid calories are usually a big stumbling block for megafats, soda and starbucks provide next to zero satiety while being absolute filled with calories. Switching to water, or sparking water alone can take many out of a surplus and into a stark deficit.
If you cut out everything else, you could eat an entire rotisserie chicken by yourself and as much broccoli as you want and lose weight. If you get a craving just eat more broccoli.

I haven't been to the gym since Monday. I have been eating like an asshole with several restaurant meals and fast food. I prepped for a group walk that I am doing tomorrow on Wednesday because I don't do cardio. I found out that I can fairly easily handle 8km and the walk tomorrow is 9km lasting 2 hours.
I honestly would rather just go to the gym for hours rather than walking for hours. The other bullshit to be outside is also a time hole. I am down my weekly goal of 2lb (a little more actually) and I feel bagged on and tired. I don't know how you walkers do it. This is awful.

Audiobooks, find a good book that gets its hooks into you and only listen to it while you walk. Everyday I get out there and walk so I can hear what happens next. Applies to all cardio, not just walking.

Its actually okay to take a week off now and then, helps the body recuperate. Just call this week a recovery week and get back to it on Monday. But this coming monday you hit the gym and you lift heavy, hit every muscle hard and make yourself sore, do an extra set than normal and push your last set to complete failure.

Started at 216 this year
195 when I started using LoseIt and getting more seriously invested in changing my dietary habits (minimal carbs, more protein, leafy greens, almost no sugar) and going on hikes more. Some light exercises at home but no gym (they all close by the time work ends)
I stepped on the scale today - I am down to 159/159.4 lbs. So close to my goal of 140!

Generally you want most of your protein to come from animal proteins, its not like plant proteins don't even count like the ketofags imply but animal proteins tend to be much higher quality and as such should make up the bulk of your protein intake. But if you want to have some beans, s oy, or lentils as your protein every once in a while instead of chicken its not going to ruin you.
They're labeled as "eat less", not "avoid", you can still have them, but in moderation. You should avoid eating them daily as your primary protein source. Cured meats are full of nitrates, which on their own aren't bad or in small doses, but they break down into carcinogenic nitrosamines if you have too much, so you should limit how many you consume. If your primary source of protein is bacon, salami, jerky, ham, and hot dogs, ect you're going to be running a much higher cancer risk than if you were eating non-cured meats like chicken, beef, turkey, pork, ect. But if you can't stand non-cured meat you do you. Same goes for fish, but with mercury instead. You can still have fish but you need to watch their mercury levels, I think salmon, sardines, and shrimp tend to be low enough that you could make them your primary protein source if you wanted to. I know I have salmon at least once a week.
The salt thing is a general recommendation as most normies tend to get far more sodium than they need as they're sedentary and snack on salting snacks all day and it leads to shit like high blood pressure but typically doesn't apply to us fatties who are losing weight and active daily, for a lot of us on steep deficits and doing 10k+ steps a day we might actually be deficit in sodium. I know a lot of fatties here don't get enough electrolytes and think drinking water is all they need to recover from a workout. If you're out and active and sweating a lot you probably need more sodium not less.

said. Imagine if a basketball lost 1 inch in diameter, you wouldn't notice it. Now imagine a baseball that loses 1 inch in diameter, it would be incredibly obvious. Same with your body, if you're fat you can lose 10kg and not notice much difference in your gut but the next 10kg will be much more noticeable and so on. Just don't give up.
2. You typically lose weight in your face quite early on and that's probably what your coworkers eare picking up on. Partially because there is a decent amount of blood flow there compared to your stomach, but also fat cells can either be alpha or beta coded, beta coded means you'll lose that fat first, alpha coded means it will be lost last.

So here's my personal situation, not really 100% related to the thrad, but posting this in the hopes that someone has been through something similar and could share some insight.
I started losing weight a year ago or so. Mainly by eating better and exercising almost every day. I've built up a routine and, while I could look far better and be much healthier, I think this is the best I've seen myself ever.
The issue is, as I've lost weight, gf has gained it. She had a nice physique, her abs were visible, maybe weighted about 55-57 kg. Now she's at 65, which isn't overweight, but her body looks like shit to be honest. As I've lost weight, I've noticed attracting more attention from females (and paying more to them myself) and feeling less attracted to gf. She's tried exercising, but for her, that translates to 15 minute bike and a couple sit ups. She does pylates once a week (which I think does absolutely nothing, but she loves it) and counts it as cardio. So I've anyone has gone through a similar process, I'd appreciate any insight really

Based anon, I did Mounjaro for 8 months started at 24.5 stone aka 343lbs and lost 8 stone aka 112lbs. I ate 2 meals a day, both around 700-800kcals, mostly protein and mixed veg and carbs with one if the meals. I never got to 15mg because I didn't feel the need, I only moved up on dose when I felt I needed to. I did 1 month on 2.5mg, then 2 months on 5 mg, then 3 months on 7.5mg and finally 2 months on 10mg before stopping. I had almost no side effects myself, aside from an inability to poop most days, like sometimes I'd unironically go 5 days without shitting and get really gassy. But it was 100% worth it. So technically not loose skin yet but I feel like I'm gonna have a small amount when I lose this last bit of stomach. Just a gut feeling.
Think if I work my core I can fill it all in? Try non surgical methods first? Even if I do get surgery I know it would be a mini tuck at worst.

That's pretty impressive.
Losing 20kg would put me back to the weight I was like 10 years ago, so I don't really mind if it takes a bit and I'm not urgently rushing up the doses or anything.
My diet is fine for the most part. I use Gousto and eat once a day, and the rest is just snacking. My hope is that it'll allow me to eat more intentionally rather than just being hungry and drinking energy drinks and eating kitkats all day.
I'll probably switch to preparing my own meal plan from next week though, just to have a bit more control over it and going more into protein and fibre.

Hi anons. 6'9'', starting weight of 420 down to 365 after starting daily gym routines and dietary changes in early May. Went to the doctor's office for the first time in 2ish years and my hemoglobin A1C is at an 11.8. I didn't fast before having my bloodwork done. I'm scared that I may be diabetic, which seems likely, but I won't know until I talk to my doctor again. It could be a fluke but I may just be coping.
In more positive news my LDL is WAY WAY down and I've lost the weight that I have. Found new stamina, strength, etc.
I find it interesting how some of you lads crumble with weight charts. It makes me wonder if food addiction causes nervousness and hysteria or if that personality type is more likely to become a food addict in the first place (lack of security, worrier, chaotic energy, restlessness, depression and anxiety)
All you need to know is your TDEE, your steps walked per day, and calories eaten.
You do not need to even weigh yourself at this point.
If your TDEE is 1600 calories per day, and you walk 5 miles a day (500 calories burned), your calories expended per day is roughly 2100.
Therefore you know if you eat 1600 calories per day you are losing 1lb a week. You dont have to weigh yourself to know this. Just dont eat anything that isnt tracked.
DO NOT eat loose sweets and stuff that is given to you without calories worked out, DONT eat office cake and random garbage or a vanilla coffee from dunkin donuts without looking at the calorie sheet first. Everything you ever eat you should know its calories
Once you count calories for a bit its rather intuitive. I dont have to log what I calorie count. All I do is keep a mental tally for the day that is a loose guide. For example if something is roughly 450 calories I will round it up to 500, then if something is maybe 160 calories Ill make it an even 650 and so on. If you overestimate you literally cannot go wrong. Stop worrying, count calories!

If you have your accurate TDEE, sure. But even that changes as you lose weight, as gain muscle or even with diet.
But I assume most people aren't doing calorimetry exams to know their accurate TDEE. Imagine you try to calc TDEE on one of those sites and it gives you a wildly inaccurate estimate, and you work off of that, if you weren't weighting yourself you wouldn't even know that.
What you can do is to reverse engineer, like if you know that you're eating at maintenance, track your daily calories for a week, average it out and that's probably your TDEE. But then again, that requires you being at maintenance, i.e, going on a scale to know you're not gaining or losing weight. (you can technically reverse engineer even if you're gaining or losing, for example, if you're losing 0.2g/day, *7500 that's 1500 kcal deficit, if you're eating 1000 kcal daily then your TDEE is 2500 kcal, but again, that's also inaccurate since you won't consistently lose 0.2g everyday, it fluctuates)
Even 5 miles = 500kcal varies wildly, with your weight for example(moving 100kg is easier than moving 200kg), with the pace that you're walking(if you're jogging/burning you're going to burn more), etc. I'm not trying to nitpick, and rounding everything up is a good idea, but I'm pointing out that the math might be wildly off, specially if the person is a beginner and don't know what they're doing, and if you blindly trust it without weighting yourself you might run into issues.
Imo there's no reason not to weight yourself at least once a week, if you want to do it blindly for whatever reason then go for it, but you're just making your life harder for no reason desu

I don't even recommend daily weight-ins, I do them because I like them, but to me it had the reverse effect, it stopped me from violating my diet because everytime I do it I instantly gain weight, even if I'm way under TDEE(for example, one day I OMAD'd a Burger King, there's no way I ate over 1500 calories in a small borger, but I gained weight). And also, even if I immediately go back to my diet, it takes a while to get the weight loss speed going. If it's not just noise, I assume if I eat a shitton of carbs it tells the body that it doesn't need to burn fat for glucogenesis and it takes a few days for it to adapt back.
That's why I don't do cheat days. If I trusted CICO math, I'd be OMAD'ing a Burger King at least once every week, like think about it, a Whopper is like ~700 calories, small fries is like 310, drink diet soda so 0 cals there, that's like 1010 kcal. Ain't no way my TDEE is under 1010. You're supposed to lose weight on 1010 kcal, right? But the opposite happens to me, every single time.

What do other anons do for diet? I feel like I need a rigid plan in order to make progress, so this is why I am on the constant look out for meal plans. The best sucess I had was on a meal replacment shake diet. I had a shake for breakfast, 1 for lunch and then just meat and veg for dinner. Some may say shakes are stupid, but the plan gave me some basic structure that was easy to stick to. When left to my own devices I tend to get to complicated in my meals and start to fail to track and overeat.

After a year + of denial, today I came to terms with the fact that it'll be 6 months until I'm down at a relatively healthy weight, and 1 year until I'm legitimately fit and attractive.
I don't have the willpower and energy to sustain a 50% caloric deficit and I've tried my best.
