See how the guy in the webm grips the lifter's midsection then just lets him slip through? That's suboptimal. What the spotter should have been doing is squatting behind the lifter, arms beneath the lifter's pits, and hands hovering around the lifter's chest. Once the lifter fails, the spotter should move upwards, catching the bar with the inside of his elbows and doing a sort of awkward zercher squat to help the lifter lift and rerack.

If you arch even a little all you need is safety bars at the correct height, where when arched the bar is on your chest, but unarched it's on the bars.. You can even put risers under your bench to fine tune it.

Totally agree. Nearly every gym is equipped to cater to the cultural milieu. People want bench press stations, so they have bench press stations.

You can bench in a rack if the rack has a fine enough adjustment on the safeties. When you’re lying on your back, your sternum is higher than your stomach. If your a giant fat fuck, you’re stomach can compress lower than your sternum without hurting you.

You just set the safeties on the rack so they’re just a little lower than your sternum. I’ve never seen anyone bench in a rack in a public gym.

Racks take up just as much space as a bench. They’re multi-purpose as well. The only reason for bench press stations instead of racks is some kind of misplaced tradition.

People with good home gyms know exactly what I’m talking about.

That's my gym. Yep I have the safeties right below my chest so I can let go of need be and get out afterwards. I don't have any issues of them getting in the way. But I do have a spotter so I can go to faialure and then some. Just got to 225 the other day because of my spotter and being able to go beyond failure.
