i just upgraded and the new mobo is messing with the power of all connected usb devices when turning the pc on/restarting it
checked bios and deep sleep is disabled, and i enabled S5 power for usb, but it still is randomly switching my hub and screen light, because it fully cuts and connects power
what else do i need to set to solve this?

Already have 800 dollars saved to buy a high end PC started saving 6 months ago, I think I'll be in time to camp out of my local micro center when the 70 series arrives.
>>105592257>I think I'll be in time to camp out of my local micro center when the 70 series arrives.... to buy the 7050 at $1000 USD
What kind of AIO fan would I need for the am5 9800x3d?
>>105592333Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 Pro is the best performing one on the market.
>>105592262Nvidia is my friend they would never do that
>>105592284Where is the 80% utilization cuz I'm not seeing it tard. This is 1440p but the game was set to 1080p when I first got in from another test I did previously and the utilization was the exact same as pic related so clearly there isn't a bottleneck here or it's incredibly slight at worst.
>what's that, you want to put a full-sized ATX motherboard in this case?
>too fucking bad, modern motherboards have angled connectors on the right side, have fun connecting usb, sata, and power with that recessed panel
THOSE BITCHES! This was a perfectly fine case.
2 months later I still did not pick a new monitor in place of my VG248QE.
It appears I'm too sensible to motion clarity since I'm performance focused (used to do light competitive gaming), and I would need to try one of these 700$+ OLED monitor to make a fair comparison.
I have a question. It's mandatory for the number of FPS to match the target refresh rate for the motion clarity to express, right ?
Let's say I buy one of these Zowie TN monitor at 500Hz, I'd need 500 FPS to have the better motion clarity available on the market, right ?
For example when I watch RTINGS pictures for CAD @ Max Refresh Rate, the image is barely clearer from a PG27UCDM (QD-OLED 240Hz) to the VG248QE (TN 144Hz).
It feels I need to wait maybe 12 or 18 months to get an OLED screen that will truly match the capability of a TN panel in terms of motion clarity at an equivalent refresh rate.
If I buy an OLED right now, my theory is I'll get great relaxed gaming and media creation, but I'll get fucked even for light competitive gaming, not talking about burn-in 10 years from now, when my old TN only have a subtle line from the Windows' windows top and bottom bar (and I can't even find them right now). But in no way in the next year I see myself having more than 144 raster FPS in the games at 1080p or 1440p anyway (got an overclocked RX 9070).
Feels like I need a new kind of OLED that's 240Hz or under, 1440p, and black magic that makes motion clarity truly a step up.

want to upgrade my 1060 mainly to drive my 4k monitor at 160hz instead of 120 right now, which requires turing/rdna1 or later. I play a lot of geometry dash and the bare minimum (5700 xt) is enough for that probably.
but seeing that the used market isnt amazing i am open to buying something high end instead so that I can play other games sitting in my library at higher settings, including red dead 2, witcher 3, and hitman.
I have plenty of money that is either going into a new gpu or into retirement account. Basically my budget is flexible but I don't want to get ripped off buying something I don't need.
Considering mainly amd 9000 series. 9060 16gb seems like a ripoff when its $80 more than the 8gb. 9070 is 600 dollars in usa right now, there is a 9070 xt open box for 650. Problem is I only have a 650w psu. If I can reduce the power limit on the 9070 xt then that might be the way to go.
CPU is a ryzen 5600 so won't be a super bottleneck or anything.
If someone can find me a good ebay deal that would be amazing too

>>1055924689070 is the best and most power efficient one. 9070xt sucks up 100w+ more than the 9070xt for 20 more frames. If you get the 9070xt you can undervolt it but lose a little performance. consider a used AMD 6000 or a RTX 3080 since they're starting to go cheaper and cheaper.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWtenIVx2I4&t=925s
>>105592454I have heard that 240Hz OLED is = to 360Hz LCD in terms of clarity, so 500Hz TN should beat 240Hz OLED in terms of clarity, but just barely. You can get 360Hz OLEDs now, too! The instant response times are hard to escape once you have em. I think a 9070 can drive 360hz at competitive settings, depending on CPU, and what games?
>>105592468Get the 9070, brand new, correct power profile out the box without any fiddling. Perhaps the open box was returned for a reason. If you really have fomo you can just clock the 9070 up to XT levels with a better PSU down the line.

Come home, white man. I may have just found a candidate for a proper modern workstation case. Too bad it's fucking $100.
>>105592563One of the most recent fast PvP game I play is Delta Force, and I can get almost constant 144 FPS at 1080p, settings at 5/7. My CPU is a 5600K.
Exposing my situation makes me think I'd better first reach a strong CPU/GPU core, with DDR5 instead of DDR4, and then get an OLED that I can run between 120 and 240 FPS so the transition will be worth it for any kind of usage.

My TV is old and has VA.

>>105592959pretty much. wires are not water hoses, but you want to treat them pretty much same way and avoid sharp edges. if you want to have 90-degree angles - check for official adaptors from your psu manufacturer, or at least adaptors certified by your psu manufacturer. otherwise - it is all you're own risk.
>>105592881Depends on what results you expect. Generally OLED > almost OLEDS > IPS > VA > TN for image quality
But then depending on motion clarity, color expectation, brightness, all kind of stuff, you may go in any direction.

How does windows become "bloated"? Are registry entries from installed software enough to make things slow, or is it *only* programs running in the background that slow the system down? I have ton of music plugins installed (dll and vst3), and I wonder if those things have made my pc too slow for gaming now, since despite having a fairly good AMD build, I get terrible performance on some of the games I'd like to play
Follow up question then would be, is there a good way to debloat a system, without having to do a fresh clean install?
I know that I'm a retard but I let a local PC store install my Windows 11 and they did it in spanish. I changed all I could to english but it seems like I can't remove the spanish language from system. I also know that some things at system level will remain in the installation language, is that going to cause issues in the future? Use a credit card with points or Rakuten to recoup that extra few bucks if you are bent out of shape about it. The cooler is gonna be more than enough for that 220W card, no reviews needed. 5070 is available for $550 at Best Buy, even in stock locally, but I would wait for delivery and pay $50 more for more perf and VRAM.
>>105594729Its basically a 3090 with less vram. Assuming you are on something older, it almost certainly doesn't run as power hungry and hot as one of these. I also keep hearing online that GDDR6X cards tend to die early for these heat and power reasons but no hard evidence.
Unless you know something I don't or some specific use case, I wouldn't buy it at this price since the 5070/amd 9070 would be cheaper and with comparable performance.

>one pair of KF3200C16D4/8GX
and for the life of me I can't seem to get the four of these to run at 3200 MT/s. The first doesn't support XMP, so I manually set the speed to 1600 MHz in the BIOS but these lil cunts just cap out at 2400 for some reason. With only the second pair slotted in, it works just fine at 3200. The first pair is harvested from a Lenovo pre-built. Rest of the system:
>AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
>Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2
and some other shit I suppose is largely irrelevant. Running CachyOS right now if something's needed on the software side. The RAM is slotted in correctly (A/B/A/B).

>>105595145There are 4 highly questionable part choices that I will point out.
Firstly, the CPU+GPU combo is not the best for gaming. Typically you want to spend much more on the GPU than the CPU. For example buy the i5-14600k instead and put that money towards the RTX 5060 or 5070 (the latter is worth the extra money)
Also you need to buy a different memory kit. A good alternative is any that is 2x16gb at ddr4-3200.
Lastly the motherboard is pretty low end.
If you live near microcenter I recommend getting one of the CPU bundles, or even just looking at them since they show good matches of CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

Since 7 it got better. There is software like BleachBit for cleaning registry, cache/temporary files etc. but on modern systems and hardware it barely does anything. Just don't use CCleaner since it's spyware. You can check your autostart, active services for performance improvements, defender definitely can fuck up things. IT could also just be that the games aren't optimised for amd.
>>105594581The best way is just to get LTSC version, there are loads of garbage and spyware that you can't disable on lower versions. You can also check /fwt/ for tools like shutup10 etc., also there are some modified ISOs with bloat cut off.

>>105597317> on games the 27" allegedly might appear a bit "sharper"With a 27"1440p you tend to sit closer to the display than with a 32"4k and this again ruins the "sharpness". >>105597345So overall, for more diverse setups, the 27" 4k monitor might be more practical than the 32" 4k? I haven't been able to test 4k monitor on desktop environment, but I recently had the choice between a telly and a 27" monitor, and I chose the monitor precisely because I can distance it to taste on the table, while the telly would've been stuck only at "farthest back" position on the table. I'd also imagine that when it comes to multi monitor setups, 27" provides slightly more diversity (maybe 3x 27" is possible? or maybe 1x 27" + 2x 23" ?), whilst with 32" monitor I imagine you're stuck with a 2x setup at most. If there's something I've learned from tinkering with multiple monitor setup, it's that there's "no replacement for displacement" (car analogy), meaning physical screen showing their own info > digital windows trying to emulate multi monitor setup (usually done on a single ultrawide monitor). Basically things will always look "right" with more monitors.

>>105597405> 27" 4kTerribly dense resolution for 27". 1440p already makes me sit very close to the screen and with 4k I would feel the urge to creep into it. If 4k then 32" to be able to enjoy it.
>>105597347I already figured I would have to get NVIDIA, seeing as many mixed opinions about the 50 series cards, so I will just go with my original plan of getting a 4070 super and then later upgrading to a 4080 super. I'm a bit confused on what you mean about my RAM, though I might just not be reading that correctly
>>105597399Not sure, the guy was using the power cable for his new 5090 so I have to go buy one to test it out. Card looks mint though and it's still under warranty so here's hoping I just got lucky.
>>105597368>>105597399calling it now it's a board and heatsink with the GPU and VRAM stripped
>>105597347> 5080 SuperWould be almost twice the price of a 5070 Ti if the rumors of 24GB VRAM come true.
>>105597457> GPU and VRAM strippedThen $800 is overpaid.
>>105595714>>105595942How much ram do you have?
Otherwise idk i guess the windows AI is scanning your butthole for being a double plus ungood consumer.
9/10 times when the computer is still running but shitty itโs a software problem rather than hardware.
>>105597472The board and cooler may be worth $50 if he has a good model
>>105597452VR loves VRAM especially if you're gonna Flat2VR so skip the anguish and just get a 4070Ti Super or 4080 out of the gate
>I'm a bit confused on what you mean about my RAM, though I might just not be reading that correctlyit's the latency number on the , it's the right speed of DDR5-6000 but it's CL36 latency vs CL30 - higher number is worse here because it basically means "this many cycles until it responds"
the latency value is less critical for RAM when you're using an X3D chip because the large L3 cache there helps but you might as well go for the CL30 speed if you're willing to be this spendy
>>105597201last 4 weeks of my fucking life since the intel voodoo curse came to suck my CPU silicon. But of course, I hadn't even heard about that shit until now and every BSOD and kernel dump blamed memory or driver errors and by the time my ass finally learns about their factory fuckup over a year late and get the RMA ticket in with gruesome fucking detail,
>"We're sorry you're experiencing difficulty with your Raptor Lake processor. Are you sure this problem wasn't influenced by faulty memory units? Try swapping for a new set of RAM, and report back if that helps!">Already did. Memtest86 clean on both. It's not the RAM.>"...Try another!"
>>105595655Do you live in a 300 year old house with bad electrical grounding
>>105595453I don't get it, what's the catch?
>>105597461true enough, it's just a matter of whether or not you want to go through the buy and sell, but IMO a 4070 now is a bad call other than the Ti Super
>>105597472yes I'm implying dude got ripped off or the seller really does not give a single fuck and has lots of money to burn selling a 4090 that cheap
>>105597517My PSU has a cable that fits the 4090, can I connect it to this port to power it or do I need the splitter cable.
>>1055957285070 Ti with a 9950X3D? Waiting for prices to get better? It's not bad thanks to DLSSโข but at least get a 5080.
>>105597500Maybe you just don't sound convincing enough
I've rma'd with intel very painlessly back in 2020 by giving a very detailed report on how I tried changing everything but the CPU and the issue still persisted and they didn't give me any trouble exchanging it for a new i9.
>>105597521Isn't that exactly what the port is for? I assume the cable says 600W on the top.
>>105593985She did the best she could with the small sum provided by her boyfriend
>>105597527Yea it does, if that works I can try it out now and see if I got scammed or super lucky.
>>10559719527" is the ideal size.
Yes, this exact same disagreement will occur until the end of time.
>>105597496Yeah, I looked into it right after I sent that, I already changed it out. This is what I have now https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JC9b6Q though not sure on what manufacture to try and get it from but that feels like an entirely different conversation that I will look into on my own. Thank you for helping me by the way
>>105595728>This screenshot makes AMD tranny cry himself to sleep and shit his diaperWhat? Does the game not run good on AMD or why say that?

>>105597138>even more so pricy dual layer IPSNever heard of dual layer IPS before, what's it about? What monitor uses it?
>>105597554I hope that's just a placeholder item and you are not planning on actually paying that much for a 4080S
happy to help, what are your planned PCVR games you're going to start with?
>>105597532it does indeed
12V-2X6 is the "successor" or "next gen" to 12VHPWR and should work fine but always double check with your PSU vendor to be 110% sure
>>105597660It technically is and isn't, planning on getting a 4080S from Ebay or just somewhere else but i'm not paying that much for it. As for planned games I'm not sure yet, was considering half-life Alyx, Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand grenades, or Raw Data though I think people forgot it existed
>>105592220 (OP)This stupid bitch is blocking the view of Ravenwest
>>105597671holy shit it was actually a legit 4090 for $800 I can't believe it. Everything's working perfect so far.
>>105597735good starts to the library
just make sure to check price history, most VR games do go on sale regularly but there are a few that never do
>>105597769benchmark that mf and make sure it's stable
but you just got lucky as hell if you got that for $800
>>105597784I will be sure to keep that in mind. Again thank you
>>105597769Now let's ponder why it's only $800
>>105597769https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
Run HWiNFO and see if the summary matches up to what the card is supposed to be
>>105597718The current drivers is causing my 7900XTX to max out on Utilization leading to freezes and BSOD. This is some bullshit.
>>105597798yw
the mod content for Alyx alone is amazing and will give you several dozen hours more shooting fun, although it is kind of still a bit training wheels for gunplay especially versus H3
happy VRing, and stay away from the VRchat thread for that way lies furries and groomers
>>105597718>>105597837wow lossless scaling dual GPU feels like fucking ass no matter the base framerate. haha, imagining all those reddit fags saying they have 5090 equivalents with Lossless really makin me bust a gut with laughter right now holy shit the delusion.

These all look like the same cases I've seen for like 10 years now, and let me guess the thermals are essentially the same too.
Oh but they added skirting boards. Or the front is glass for worse thermals.
Who cares about this shit?
>>105597954I think it looks great, I love the wood accents. I'm planning on getting the black one for my build later this year. Pretty sure you can get one without the glass panel too which is what I'll be doing.

some anon said a while ago that the fractal north xl has an AWFUL hum and the stock fans both rattle and do this high-pitched humming even at 40%
well I guess they were right because holy shit this is the loudest case I've ever owned
