Unironically we were mutuals over Facebook at some point, then we played League together for a bit in the early 2010's. Stayed friends with her for 6 or so years before we properly got together.

As my life got worse I had less good things to talk about and more negative things to talk about.
I know nobody wants to hear or discuss negative things so I just never say anything anymore, and seemingly neither does anyone else.
These days, it seems like most people go out of their way to avoid communication, and I do too.

I'm selling everything I own soon. Buying a DR650. Paying the high fee to have it imported into Japan after I ride across my home country. Then I'm never returning. I'll live out my days camping in the woods and riding around Japan until I starve to death.

Being treated the way I was durring COVID is something not easily forgotten or forgiven, especially by people who just move on to the next "current thing" and just pretend they were never wrong and I am being dramatic.
Yeah, it's loneliner. And honestly, not seeing the same brainrot everyone else is has made me realize that everyone is brainwashed, so it's hard to relate IRL as well. But you find solice in the little things more and more everyday.
I am viewed as a likable and funny person by most, despite no one understanding jokes anymore.
But it is hard to get close to people.
Social media is like having a shitty bitchy gossiping friend whispering shit in to everyones head 24/7.
No one seems to get that what they are seeing isn't a chronological order of people they followed and keep in touch with, it's a stream of shit the owners of the platform want you to see.
I'd like to see alternatives, but they always get hacked and destroyed in strange suspicious ways shortly after picking up steam.

So I've just stuck to playing games, watching occasional videos, listening to audio books and podcasts, some 4chan surfing, and some purchasing on Amazon as all I really do anymore.
Everything else is kinda dead (even 4chan to be honest). Any real friends can text me. Other than that I will just go out and explore now and meet people out and about. I don't use social media so when they ask me for mine I don't have much of an answer.

Yeah this isn't the reason why. The landscape changed between the early-mid 2010s and now. I was already an old fart during that time and had been gaming online for 20 years by that point (well since Q3A on PC and Dreamcast). I had a bunch of friends that already had kids in the range of 3-13 years old during the late 2000s-early 2010s who stayed up all night playing on Xbox Live and PC then went to work on no sleep. We regularly did 12+ hour sessions in FPS and MMORPGs. We regularly met people through public voice chat and all had friends lists with 100+ people we only knew through the internet. Would regularly have to remove people I hadn't played with in a couple of weeks to make room for new friends I'd made on Xbox Live due to the 100 friend limit or whatever it was set at.

Now it's impossible to meet anyone like that. Everyone is tucked away in some private voice chat and refuses to come out of their safe space. Can't banter either because those groups will gang up and abuse reporting system to get your account banned and/or limited.
