>News & Rumors
RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

Yes, they help. Choose one with biggest fan in the middle that you can find, usually they have 2 settings and on "low" only biggest fan works. Also that mesh in front of fan? Is shit. Pick a model that has sparse cage or even no cover whatsoever over the fan.

>false accusations
Yours is /AMD pcbg/. You left GeForce workstation cards because you can't bullshit around that segment.

>Battlemage had an overall good launch. Lately, itโ€™s been getting coverage for a potential for driver overhead in some test configurations that cause disproportionately bad performance on older CPUs.
>In addition to our 9800X3D test platform, we also ran several cards back through on a 5600X (watch our review) with locked clocks and an i5-12400 (watch our review).
>The short answer to the question of whether it changes performance is โ€œno.โ€
>The long answer is that we have extra charts to show why not.
>There are scenarios where it can matter, but other than a couple instances, they do not really emerge in our test suite.

Debunked by Gamers Nexus, a Ryzen 5600 isn't a costly drop-in upgrade these days either.
>Letโ€™s quickly talk results: First, in most scenarios, there is no meaningful impact.
>The biggest situation was with the 5600X in Baldurโ€™s Gate 3.
>The 12400 did not react as violently. The secondary impact is in some 0.1% low differences, but these often also manifested on other devices.

It depends on your parameters, taking into account the prices of alternative cards.
If you feel the 5070 should be bought at a discount because it may be limited by the 12GB VRAM, that's your standard.

I also have 3 thermalright fans, if I tape them on the sides of cardboars and put another cardboard to close everything and tape them, will it help thermals or am I overthinking?

Just put the bag motherboards comes in under it. You might want to put plastic trays that RAM came into under the corners because otherwise there's backplate under CPU & Cooler that it is going to rest on. That's what I did.

I can assure you those extra fans are not needed for an open stand, you are overthinking it. Their purpose in a case would be to push air through input mesh and into the case, and out of it. If you have no case - you don't have to push air in and out of it.

>pick budget upgrade components
>plan to reuse cooler & RAM
>get annoyed LGA1700 is several mm offset from LGA1151 so backplate won't fit
>order new backplate for 12 EUR
>realize budget MB doesn't have onboard power buttons
>would have to buy a chassis or hotwire that shit with screwdriver every time need to power off or reset

I'm getting annoyed and considering premium upgrade instead of those little inconveniences.

How comes nobody can ever get anyone from Radeon to go on these youtube channels?

Nvidia sent a graphics engineer to GN
AMD sent Ryzen engineers to GN
Intel sent GPU engineers to GN

Why don't the Radeon engineers go? The only person we hear from Frank Azor, a marketer

>some TSMC IHV (LTT\Debaurer Powercolor tour).
Power Color just assembles the board components and the cooler into a finished video card.
They are not an Independent Hardware Vendor (IHV), AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA are.
That's why NVIDIA gets away with their high margins ('AIBs just solders board components together').

AMD is the one that secures orders for TSMC chips, they supply the GPU & memory chips as a set to their board partners.

There's no point paying a premium for such an old fan design.
If you have working NF-F12 fans, keep using them.

Fractal Momentum fans are better than this, there's also be Quiet Silent Wings 4 or Pure Wings 3.

The tensor & RT cores in NVIDIA's GPU were originally added to meet workstation needs.
NVIDIA developed RTX and DLSS to utilize those cores in gaming as well.

AMD couldn't attract high-margin workstation customers who were willing to pay for that R&D.
FSR4 became what it is because of Sony's collaboration.

HWUB Steve downclocks the boost frequency of GeForce GPUs to match NVIDIA's very conservative spec sheets (stock RTX 50 settings can easily boost above 200~300GHz of advertised specs).
That's why other tech reviewers can't replicate his numbers.
https://youtu.be/UMPK1SeMEZM?t=209

Steve blames the fact that NVIDIA sent him a Ventus OC card for review, not the non-OC.
But there's only a 30MHz boost difference between these cards, not the 200~300GHz he downclocked.

No one said this, not even the DLSS spammer.
People said adoption would be mostly limited to newer titles, because devs rarely go back to update a profit-maximized old game.

Cyberpunk is getting FSR4 and other content updates because CDProjekt Red is using this title to help new hires get accustomed to their workflow.

The Vcore VRM can die after some point if you don't undervolt the GPU and set a lower power limit for it (to dampen transient spikes).

Even one of the most overbuilt 3090 (ASUS Strix) isn't immune to this.

In terms of power delivery design, they don't.
If you're worried about the 4090/5090's melting connector, you just have to set a 400W power limit or even downclock the boost frequency for professional workloads.
There's practically 0 4090 or 5090 needing a DrMOS replacement.

No need to power limit. I'd assume a decent cable shouldn't have issues with melting connectors unless you drastically exceed the 9.2A and with an astral you can see the ampere values. However the Astral only has a software notification if you get past 9.2A and it's rather expensive. As alternative like mentioned before the new Wireview works which should come with an emergency off if you exceed a certain threshold but they haven't announced a release date yet.

most aio rad fans are powered through a 3-1 splitter. you'd just plug VRM into CPU (its the small fan), pump into the pump labeled header, and the fan will connect all three fans on the rad to a single header. i hope this helped, i have a ALF3 but I don't fuck with rgb. i also have like 12 fans in my pc using simple pwm splitters and it just werks for me. 3x140mm fans can work on a single header I found.

Finally a techtuber with a sizeable audience is explaining to people what retards on this website have refused to accept for a year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HylcIjr2uQw

He's incapable of being succint so the gist of it is:
>If you're upgrading your monitor resolution to play modern vidya in the age of ML-based image reconstruction like DLSS/FSR4, you're better off just skipping 1440p and going directly to 4K.
>DLSS/FSR4 at 4K produces better quality AND better performance than anything 1440p gives you. 1080p to 4k with DLSS looks better than native 1440p while running better as well.
>4K monitors are cheaper than ever before so you don't have to sell a kidney. A Gigabyte M27UP is a 250$ 4K 160hz IPS monitor, if you don't have 250-300$ to spare then why are you upgrading resolution in the first place? OLEDs are still too expensive though.
>GPU comparisons are often done at native resolution with ultra settings to produce honest apples-to-apples comparisons between GPUs, but this isn't really indicative of how to best use a GPU in reality. Medium settings + upscaling to higher output resolutions produces better quality and better performance. Overfixating on resolution labels (e.g. "THIS IS A 1440P GPU.โ€) is a mistake in this day and age.

Which tech outlet or eceleb fag needs to explain this for you to be convinced?

He didn't say it outright but if you can put 2 and 2 together it's the obvious outcome isn't it?
You could pay 150-200$ to go from let's say 1080p to 1440p, or you can pay 250-300$ (or more if you want?) to go from 1080p to 4K and harness a software trick that gives you both better visual quality and better performance than what 1440p would give you. Choice seems clear.

By paying for a 5090 performance that does not exist at the same price tier as a 9070xt for the coming 4 years minimum aka 1,7x-2x performance increase, you are effectively living 4 years into the future, paying for 4 years performance in advance, we know that performance has stagnated, in 4 years time you will pay 9070 xt msrp for 5090 performance, nothing would have changed, would have been waiting 4 years to pay the same amount have been worth it at that time? you just lost 4 years of your life and were not living 4 years in the future, all for this
buying a 5090 is effectively time travel

microfiber cloth and water, not even distilled unless your water is hard and full of minerals is all you need
if you ejaculated on your qdoled glossy display to the point it's full of fat residue and it does not get removed you might need to incorporate more esoteric methods like small amounts of ethyl/ethanol acohol and water mixture or whatever they recommend (I cannot verify)
99% of case all you need is water+microfiber
and if you fuck up your qdoled monitor to the point it's scratched up and destroyed to the point the antireflection layer is beyond saving you can fall back to the wet paper method and let it soak and just peel off the entire layer (does not work on woled because the polarizer layer and the outer layer coating is fused or some shit and will break your display)

tdlr microfiber+water

>You aren't just stretching 1440p across a 4k monitor and pretending that's what it looks like on a 1440p display are you?
A 1440p DLAA render is the same one no matter what the physical size of the monitor is. It may look cleaner on a native 1440p display simply because those displays are usually smaller than 4k displays so the pixels are more densely packed, making imperfections harder to see. But if you take a 4k monitor and set it to 1440p output, it'll render that same 1440p DLAA image. Itโ€™s like printing the same old photograph in two sizes: the smaller one hides grain better, but the image itself hasnโ€™t changed.

And you donโ€™t need to rely on stretching or shrinking to see the quality differences. Iโ€™ve got a 27-inch 1440p and a 27-inch 4K monitor side by side right now, 4K DLSS Performance looks better to the naked eye as well as in tests. If you want objective proof just crop the same quadrants of both images and compare them side by side on the same monitor. Makes no difference whether it's in their original sizes or equalized sizes, one will look better than the other.

Point is: if you're looking for the most efficient way to get max performance for max image quality, you're better off upscaling to higher resolutions with FSR4 or DLSS instead of sticking to native lower resolutions.

4k isn't a physical size, its a resolution
1440p DLAA is taking 1440p, upscaling it using DLSS, then displaying it at 1440p. If you're using a 4k monitor there is an additional scaling step to display it at 4k

shorting things out is pretty bad, the mobo can have a part fail. so Id red use a hard wooden surface that doesnt generate static electricity instead of wool stuff or something

some guys managed to ruin their pc by not installing a cpu cooler but that seems unlikely these days
AMD cpu pins were a usual failure point, not relevant on am5. Installing cpu wrong way around is probably the easiest thing to fuck up. Another cpu related issue is mobo bios needing to support it which was common on am4, you needed to update the bios before installing a cpu.
some people may ruin things by using aftermarket psu cables that aren compatible

Someone correct me if I'm wrong - The stock GPU and VRAM clock speed for the 7900 XTX (founders edition) is 2500Mhz correct?

Asking because I'm pretty sure my 7900 XTX out of the box since I bought it last October has been running wacky fucking specs for some reason - 3020Mhz GPU boost clock but limited to 290W power. The VRAM clock specifically looks like it was correct at 2500Mhz.
Started getting more system crashes a few months ago, kernel shits out saying GPU error, definitely thinking it has something to do with this. Picrel is current settings in LACT which as far as I know should be stock.

Retarded. 9070 XT can run cyberpunk 2077 with pathtracing at 1440p and get 50-60 fps with quality fsr4. This is not possible at 4k. I would rather play 1440p with better lighting and effects than have a bit sharper image. The difference in quality between 1440p and 4k is not as noticeable as 1080p for 1440p. 4k is not worth it unless you are a whale and are buying the nvidia Flagship every two years to maintain acceptable performance in the latest games. 1440p is better for 90% of people.

Nurse it with an undervolt & power limit (around 280W), you should be fine without losing much performance (if any).
3090s running at stock settings are running on borrowed time.

making functional cable management that isnt extremely aesthetic is easy with how modern cases are designed, you just put a cable in and pull it to the hidden side as far as it goes and tie it down

Maybe the Galax HOF is safe.

So I thought okay let me pick up some 2TB MX500s and then find out Crucial have discontinued the ENTIRE SERIES - only slowass worst in class BX500 is left

I''m gonna have to get some of those overpriced 870 EVOs and hope they have no issues. It's over for the SATA SSDs which is a damn shame.

What I wonder is whether they're going to come up with a new standard to replace some of these legacy ports. SATA IV or SATA v2.0. Perhaps it or some new standard that lets it connect to an internal NVME enclosure without too much loss of performance, maybe its an enclosure meant to fit in an HDD bay. Leave at least two legacy ports for backwards compatibility.

You don't need DRAM for gaming purposes either. Get a modest capacity with DRAM for your main drive, rest can be whatever. None of the read speed differences are going to affect your loading of assets in a game. If anything I wish all games with loading screens have an option for manual dismissal of the screen, otherwise you can't read anything before its gone.

Then they should put a PCIe port there which can then accept a cable which leads into the rear of the case. Alternatively a back connect port for this purpose becomes standard.

Its mostly a point about general silicon stagnation, you buy for high end gpu now it'll stay high end forever because the prices arent going down.
If you dont and you buy a high end gpu 5 years from now you didnt save any money and you lost 5 years of not using a high end gpu.

Or you can stick with 1440p in order to transfer the power of a newer GPU towards more frames instead. Reaching 90+ native with modern AAAs at 4k is not easy and often not doable without lowering settings. Framegen can take it the rest of the way but getting a good baseline is easier with 1440p.

It is finished. After nearly a year of planning this, the PC is built. I got everything all together and I got linux installed. The only big hiccup I had was that I bent the pins on the port that connects to the front usb ports and I had to take everything apart to unfuck that. I do think going for micro atx for my first build was maybe a bad idea, but it's done now and everything seems to be working.

I'll get some everything transfered and downloaded tomorrow. Also while I was in the BIOS it was saying that the cpu was at 30c the whole time, so I need figure out some way to make sure the cpu is actually staying at the proper temp and not killing itself before I play any games.

Also my cpu came with a little sticker, do you guys think I should put it on the case?

All things being equal DLSS transformer model really pushes past the narrative that 4k isn't worth it because 1440p has so much higher fps

In practice the oled 4k's are so expensive you probably get a better experience within a reasonable budget buying a 360hz 1440p oled over a affordable 4k ips

As things stand you're looking to spend 2k โ‚ฌ for the gpu and oled monitor together for the great 4k experience if you go with 5070 ti and an oled monitor.
5070 + a 1440p oled might cost you 1.3k โ‚ฌ
