>How do I activate Windows?
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
Usage: paste into Powershell, run.

>and Office?
Same method, use Ohook
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

any idea why Win10 would randomly switch my power settings to enable sleep after 10 minutes? I've had this thing running for months with it set to "never", but I woke up today and it was in standby mode with the setting changed
fucked up some scripts that I have set to run every night

I've gotta get a new laptop for the first time in over a decade. I absolutely want Win10, though. Is there a simple way to "downgrade"? I assume nothing is sold with Win10 by default now.

>Is there a simple way to "downgrade"?
You will have to create a USB installer to do a clean install. Preferably of W10 IoT LTSC 2021 specifically, as it's the version of W10 that will get security updates for the longest (until 2032)
Simple clean install guide (you can skip the "Back up your data" part if you don't care about what's on the drive): https://gravesoft.dev/clean_install_windows
LTSC ISOs (if you want a language other than English, don't worry, you can install a regular LTSC of your choice and make it IoT after the install): https://massgrave.dev/windows_ltsc_links
MAS, which you will have to use to activate (and change to IoT beforehand if you have to): https://massgrave.dev/
Windows sometimes doesn't get all necessary drivers by itself, especially on laptops. You can use SDIO which will get every driver for your hardware automatically: https://www.glenn.delahoy.com/snappy-driver-installer-origin/
SDIO instructions if you have to use it:
>start SDIO_x64
>select "Download Indexes Only"
>wait about 30 seconds for the indexes to download and the list of drivers to appear
>in the red box on the left side, click on "Select all", then "Install"

just did so it seems that I have to install W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021. which is option number 6 right?

btw I activated both windows and office a couple of years ago by using massgrave, my current version of windows is w10 home single version 22h2, should I do a backup before changing to iotenterprise or just ourtight and do it just like how when I activated windows and office?
Anonymous No.106077521 [Report] >>106077686
>>106077491
nope, IoT Enterprise is different than IoT Enterprise LTSC, the LTSC variants are the ones that have long support

normally you can't change to LTSC, but there's a workaround for that, check the massgrave page

Also, you don't even need LTSC for a few more years of support, the MAS tool can also activate the ESU updates, ofc those will take place once W10 reaches EOL
Anonymous No.106077529 [Report] >>106077686
>>106077491
In this case with you already having a Pro install, change it to Enterprise. Then afterwards use MAS to activate it again, then use TSforge to enable the ESU license to get updates until 2028.
You can't change to LTSC from a GAC edition like this because of how it works in the backend. Only way to do it is a hacky registry edit way to trick it that you're already running LTSC when you load up an LTSC ISO's setup.exe.

For certain parts of it, yes. If you want to run it via the command in the OP you need a net connection, but you can also just download it from their git page and run it manually.
HWID, Online KMS and the main part of TSforge need internet, while Ohook and TSforge's KMS4K module don't need internet.

I shouldn't have used the word hack. That's what got you. I meant building your own Windows ISO - it's literally in the OP. But never mind, it was a stupid question anyway. My understanding is that you build your own ISO to add a ton of 3rd party shit and make it just werk(tm) on a finished install.

My question was why you would ever do that over cloning an already existing installation.

But I get that you need to build your own ISO if you want to debloat - that's the actual purpose (and probably only real purpose)
Anonymous No.106081037 [Report]
>>106080877
Editing the ISO file is easier since you're doing it externally and therefore there are no limitations.
>you build your own ISO to add a ton of 3rd party shit and make it just werk(tm) on a finished install.
You can do that, but the main reason is just to make a lighter ISO and remove obtrusive stuff such as Windows Defender and even Windows Update.
A lightweight ISO installs fast, is more portable and has a smaller attack vector due to having a smaller footprint.
It is better to spend time crafting your ISO than to create a script that will debloat the system later, as those files are going to be deleted anyway and you'd just be wasting your SSD's write cycles.

well, for one, it doesn't work on my pc
it's old, but it still does everything I need and fuck microsoft for making it artificially "obsolete"
everything else I can probably adapt to, as long as I can set up a minimalist task bar without merging programs into icons

and also disable anything but application search when I press the windows button and type away
I do need to do something about file search, though. lately I have to open the command line and google the options for recursive dir every time I need to seriously look for something (I could also just memorize the dir options, yes)

It is best to disable that anitmalware service if you don't need it (the realtime scanner) via Group Policy or registry. It has no CPU usage limit, so it is free to hoard CPU as much as it wants, which is completely unnecessary.

I've run Win10 and 11 on old machines (thanks to Rufus) as well as modern ones, older machines can run the service and it does its thing even with limiting max CPU usage for the entire system in Power Options and without taking ten million years. Modern CPUs are total overkill. The antimalware service boils down to being a hindrance to performance and a needless battery killer for laptops (versus 3rd party antimalware scanners of just about any kind).
You can ignore all this if all you do is shiitpost on the internet, the service is more of a problem for gamers, video editors, music producers, etc.

Is there anything meaningful apart from no TPM 2.0 requirement on IoT (which is also the case on non-LTSC IoT Enterprise)?

Not necessarily. For example high-end hardware benefits greatly from aggressive caching but this is either not possible or lowers performance on low-end hardware.
>removes tons of useless services compared to Enterprise
Isn't everything just an uninstall from settings away? Apart from maybe the old calculator and paint which you would also have to install manually. IIRC there aren't any core system services that simply aren't shipped with the LTSC builds but I could be wrong.
>aren't eligible for Copilot/AI stuff
The 2024 LTSC preview contained some AI integration like a copilot button which shows that it's just a "default off" (instead of the "default on" on Enterprise, which is a couple of GPO entries to turn off) on LTSC builds not that they aren't compatible for some reason.

I wouldn't be surprised with all the stuff taking that many space. Take into account:
>pagefile (which along with physical RAM serves as virtual memory) and hiberfil (OS state suspended to disk when going to Sleep/Hibernation mode; also needed for Fast Startup)
>System Restore points in "System Volume Information" (they're Shadow Copy snapshots under the hood) - can be cleaned in sysdm.cpl (or launch SystemPropertiesProtection.exe in Run window)
>OEM customizations (USMT.ppkg) in the Recovery\Customizations folder to apply after doing a push-button system reset - you're probably running an OEM installation of Windows?
>driver packages (past and current) in Windows\System32\DriverStore - use PnPUtil (online) or DISM (offline) to clean older packages (use DriverStoreExplorer for a neat GUI)
>past Windows Updates (and other Component-Based Servicing packages) in Windows\WinSxS (past packages no longer utilized are supposed to be cleaned up each month by a scheduled task - which basically runs a DISM servicing command for component cleanup)
>MSI-based installer package cache in Windows\Installer
And (obviously) programs that you have installed (normally in Program Files) along with their data and configuration (stored in user profile's AppData if user-scope, or ProgramData if system-wide) and populated registry hives - system-wide (HKLM) and user-scope (HKCU). You should also consider crashdumps (be it from a program crash or a BSoD), user profiles (including the aforementioned AppData subfolder and other user-specific ones) and temporary files (user-scope in %TEMP% or system-wide in Windows\Temp). Certain NTFS metafiles are capable of being bloated up too (some anon ended up with gigabytes of Transactional NTFS metadata in $TxF.)

Run Windows' maintenance tools first (start with CleanMgr), then use BCUninstaller to uninstall programs you no longer use (and clean their leftovers), and use BleachBit with Winapp2 cleaners for cleaning junk files.

Win11 disabled network access by name by default (but left discovery on for some reason). If you can access by IP address (just type \\IP into explorer path) then this is your problem. The network also has to be set to private not public but IIRC it has to be for network discovery anyway.
If you're on Pro then this is just a GPO but I can't remember which one. If you're accessing from a non-local IP (even if its through ZeroTier or the like) you will have to add a firewall exception as well.

Now when I boot, I get BSOD with Inaccessible_Boot_Device stop code

And when I run bootrec /scanos in recovery command prompt, I get
"Total identified Windows installations: 0"

And for sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again"

Can I fix this, or should I just wipe and clone again and sort shit out before trying to merge?

I hear you anon, but modern processors are designed to "race to idle", and are most efficient that way. Some START command autism to lower process priority or to pin them to a single core (so they use less power and therefore don't make your fans spin up) is an option if you find it truly intolerable.
>>drive starts accessing

I simply unmount drives that aren't in use. Ironically enough, this can be scheduled with the MOUNTVOL command.

>I have noticed some process count autism with these "debloating" scripts which honestly seems strange...
You know what poors are like: big number = bad. Process count autism is especially dumb. The irony is that there are some fast, simple (and above all, easily-reversed) registry tweaks that bring RAM and process counts crashing down to Windows 8 levels that don't fuck up your system. However, deblooters hate simple solutions - they behave like it's not a real "debloot" if you don't break some basic (and possibly vital) system function.

I don't mind it that much, its just distracting. It's also set to spin up the fans at a much lower temp when charging which is contributing.

Do you have any examples? The only one I'm aware of is increasing SvcHostSplitThresholdInKB enough to stop the svchost splitting but that won't really help RAM usage. Of course this is at the cost of the security and reliability benefits of split tasks.

That's precisely what I was thinking of. And you don't "increase it"enough", that's just randomtweaks.com cargo-culting - you set it to ffffffff (that is, 4 terabytes) and forget about it forever.
>but that won't really help RAM usage
It actually helps quite a lot in RAM usage: less per-process overhead adds up once it repeats a hundred times over. Microsoft's own numbers showed service host splitting almost doubled the RAM used by system services (500MB to 900MB was the example I saw).

But yeah if anything else should be added to the script to get the share fully working, let me know. I despise 11 with a passion but my hands are tied, more people are moving to it now.
I also have issues with networked printers since Windows 11 became more commonplace since clicking on a printer share usually pops up with this issue.

>this guy
bro your shit is fucked and probably retarded.

here, I just did it in my win11 vm:

New-SmbShare `
-EncryptData $true `
-Temporary `
-Path C:\ProgramData\Share `
-FullAccess 'Everyone' `
-Name sharename

note that -FullAccess 'Everyone' is a sane default since you should control read/write/etc via NTFS ACLs...
you can get current shares on your box with

Get-SmbShare

I was able to mount it just fine on GAHNU SLASH Leenucks:

sudo mount -t cifs \
-o vers=3,seal,username=$USER,uid=(id -u),file_mode=0660,dir_mode=0770 \
//your-machine/sharename /mnt

^-- obviously I'm using NTLM here cuz no AD set up on this "network" and I'm using a local user account (.\USER)
if you're using windows to windows, you may need to check the following:
if using local accounts, are your password(s) set to expire? if so, NTLM shit will break from "cross realm" as in Machine <- Shared Password for .\Username -> Your SMB Windows Server
2, check your fucking ACLs, make sure you allow "Everyone" on your share or some limited scope

I dunno how to fix that shit but dual boot can work fine. I have dual boot on my laptop.
>Long story short I partitioned it in windows then bootet into Linux and ended up partitioning it again in Linux and now my windows doesn't boot anymore.
Why didn't you just leave it after partitioning it in Windows? Linux should have been able to see that partition just fine. Anyway yeah I dunno how you can fix Windows to be honest. Try googling or ask ChatGPT I guess. If all else fails then back up your files and reinstall Windows.

What SMB version is that? Does it need to be encrypted to work? Also what's with the temporary flag?
Anonymous No.106119558 [Report]

3.1.1
no, but you should always do it since the auth handshake sets up the authenticated encryption key for free. Literally no reason to not be secure.
temporary just means it won't be persisted after a reboo

Is there a way to restore/hack W10 IOT LTSC's volume control thing back to W11IOT LTSC? I don't like how retarded the new one is.

Looked into this more, found another video, checked group policy on an affected PC and needed to set these.
>COMPUTER CONFIGURATION / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local Policies / Security Options
>Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) - Disabled
>Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always) - Disabled
NOW I can access the share, which is on a 11 Home PC (and therefore without group policy).
So can I automate the above in the powershell script too?

I got a new laptop :D I made Win11 LTSC almost usable, but there are still some retarded quirks, sich as the start button not being on the far left, so you always have to slightly correct the mouse pointer. Also no S3 sleep. I have to rely on modern standby nonsense, which I won't for longer periods of time, and will use hibernation instead.

I'm using W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021 and something is bottlenecking my internet to 90 mb/s. I've tested another cable but same issue. I'm aware it could be my integrated network card but that will be costly to test. Any reports of this problem before in windows 10 installations? I don't remember if I had it before I moved.

Hey retard, if you activate with HWID, you can completely wipe your drives and re-install the same edition of Windows and it will auto-activate the moment you are connected to the internet, without having to use MAS
You know why? Because MAS gives you a legit activation and your HWID is stored in Microsoft's official servers

Anonymous No.106122292 [Report]

SDIO is pretty good for certain things, yes.
It's great for network drivers for one. I recommend honestly downloading all the network drivers it offers and just having them on a USB.

There's lots of hardware in the system that could be limiting the bandwidth.
Also you could try booting into a Linux live USB to see what that detects.

Tried everything, every solution on the net. Everything's fine, cables, routes, even the network adapter (the LED there is green, which means a gigabit network - I just learned there). I've changed the speed in the device manager to 1GB/s and restarted, nothing. I've uninstalled the net drived and updated with the new one, nothing. The Linux USB OS gives me the right speed. The problem is windows somehow.
