Worried I'll be unemployable soon due to the adoption of AI platforms. Yeah, yeah, I know, but there have been developments this week at my job that makes it seem like quality is last place and speed is what they want. Been too long since I did development, became a technical analyst, then architect, took a new role as manager, now director. If the stupid bitches in HR and Marketing can just talk to the bot to vibe code something and then Ranjeet can deploy the zip file to prod, I feel like my department is fucked. Now I'm considering a total career change, I don't wanna fight with the AI bot for the next 30 years...

Bonger here. I graduated from university with a First-Class Honours BSc in CompSci a few months ago. I've so thouroughly blackpilled myself on the state of the tech labour market through online tech ragebait slop content consumption over the last few years that I've been living as a hikiNEET recluse ever since.

Throughout uni, I skipped every lecture (just read the slides online), would only show up for group project-related things (where I invariably ended up doing everything myself anyway), and I always made an effort to actually learn the concepts that were being taught and didn't just LLM-slop my way through every assignment.

I didn't make any connections or network in any way while I was there. I'm autistic and very retarded when it come to that sort of thing. I also didn't engage in any form of extracurricular activity, and have nothing to pad out a resume.

Despite the First-Class Honours, I don't feel even remotely qualified to work with serious industry-grade software systems. Every attempt I've ever made at a serious (non-toy) personal project has failed due to hitting some wall where I can't conceptualize how a serious industry-level product would solve a complex problem. I struggle with most LeetCode Mediums.

Is it over for me? I don't expect FAANG or high salaries or anything, I just want a job that doesn't make me want to kill myself that also pays enough to sustain a moderately frugal lifestyle (never owning a house or car, never going out to eat, pirating all of my entertainment media, etc.) with some meager savings leftover.

Is it still possible for non-savant autists to get their foot in the door, or do you have to be a LinkedIn socialite?

Way things look today, only savant autists survive. Sorry mate. Re-roll life or whatever. Alternatively: you could overdose on some mythical drug too in hopes of artificially inducing autism. 'Biohacking', I think it's called. Plenty people are deliberately physically distorting their brains these days to keep up, from willingly giving themselves brain traumas to inexplicable diets. Being average doesn't cut it. Adapt or die.
Autism rates are soaring because autism is what's being selected as the newest means to survive.

Well, what i read and hear from how it is for degree holders with the disconnection with actual job needs i definitely don't want to waste time for basically nothing but an increasingly worthless degree.

>I haven’t tried Wordpress

And it's a good thing, it's a terrible CMS, bloated, glitchy, full of security issues and it's unbelievably boring to use. I would recommand using the good old HTML/CSS, ect. way every time. I ditched webdev not only for how bloated it is anyway but also because i never had any passion to it and just gave too much credit to what i was being advised on it. My knack for C comes from me starting low level first and the algorithm programming software i used back in my HS projects was C based. COBOL is just because antique autistic curiosity aside, i have the hopium (or copium, i don't even know which at this point) this one might be my best bet to actually land since they have a shortage of young programmers.

Long time BHW lurker. They also build and sell bots, resell services and some of them are so crafty they make millions that way. Though many of them are selling the service itself on the site, so take everything they say with a grain of salt. It's like the most Jewish but (accessible to anyone on the third world) type of forum. If you visit that site enough you will envy third worlders from Vietnam because they share the best methods with each other (to rape Youtube's algorithm, etc...).

Their methods are applicable, the issue is that sites have gotten very wise to the methods that used to be milked pretty easily, plus Google engineers and what have you like actual IG/Twitter/TikTok platform owners actually visit the site to see how their platforms are being abused. As such, it is very difficult to apply blackhat methods and require a lot of time and investment to be successful. It's a lot easier than the average poster on the site makes it seem. You need to run several VPS, buy several proxies, run shit manually, avoid scams of which there are many, avoid using a rootkit multiple profile browser made by a Russian hacker, and the list goes on and on. Plus you become very greedy once you start making your first $$$, especially you start thinking only about that and it affects your ambition with everything else (E.G. you only want to earn money). You also start to get wise to sites that focus on running stealth accounts on platforms like Ebay or Etsy, and even more black hat sites that allow discussion of how you'd hypothetically go about having multiple accs, which are all legal grey area. The site is not for the faint of heart.

You guys are fucking retarded. Super fucking retarded. Do you all honestly think that in tech, it’s more than just coding? Your stupid code monkey shit is the least important role there is once applications and infrastructure is created. Only thing needed is a few smart dudes and a director to maintain it and you’re good to go. There’s SO many other amazing jobs in tech out there in which you retards could leverage your degrees to obtain them. Networking, cybersecurity, IT, industrial SCADA/ICS computing, Linux Administration etc etc etc. you retards think that just having a few projects and a few GitHub projects is enough? Niggers, any retards can do that. Get some fucking certs, build a home lab, showcase those skills and learn how to fucking talk to people. Writing a report and presenting that report is a fucking skill that no AI is going to replace. You retards are no better than the retarded c suite MBA bros thinking AI is going to save their company. You are all the same but the opposite in the sense that you all think AI is going to take your jobs away, no it won’t. You’re supposed to AI to enhance your productivity and help you advance your skill set. The beauty of technology is that you’re continuously supposed to be learning, new technologies come and go. By the time you graduate college, everything is obsolete. You’re supposed to be catching up constantly and be passionate over it. If not, you’re simply not gonna make it ever. Not just on this career field but any career field for that matter, and I’m glad that it’s becoming gatekept and washing all the retards away.

My recommendation is to anyone here with a fucking brain and common sense to get into networking and industrial networks. PLC, SCADA/ICS IoTs etc. that’s a fucking hot market right now with so many jobs opened but in person and require more work and critical thinking than the simple code monkey shit. Get your CCNA, Net+ and Sec+.

Exactly. I have a secret that I’m not currently using and where I work at, even though is private security and defense we’re not cleared but yeah man, the market is there. The jobs are there and they require you to be on site and also a citizen. Just last week alone cruising through indeed I saw a post for a PLC controller at a gas company. Fucking paid 55 per hour, per fucking hour. Not salary but by the hour. They wanted someone with a CS , EE or Math degree, net+ and at least basic knowledge on what ICSs are. If I wasn’t comfy and moving up to secdevops I would’ve jumped on it and I have a fucking philosophy degree with a double minor in Comp Eng and Math. Tech is more than just coding man, but whatever. I’m going to let these retards keep being retards. It just means that there’s more opportunities out there for real intelligent people. Both emotionally and critically. At the end of the day, the reality is that computer shit and tech shit attracts the most insufferable and autistic individuals aka most users here. Anyway, that’s my rant to yall. Stop being unemployable and branch out into other niche fields that are booming.

I doubt it. But I had zero experience before starting this job. I applied to 200+ internships when doing my bachelors but this was during 2022 to 2025. Almost all of the internships went to women and minorities. The network engineering internship that I was really, really qualified for went to a girl that didn't have any certs and nearly flunked out of her degree that wasn't network related at all. I'm still salty about it. I'll be lucky if I don't kill myself from working/commuting 11 hours then studying the rest of my time. That is my life right now. Depends on the MSP. I am incredibly lucky. The pay is shite, the benefits worse, but everything else is pretty good. Good boss, HR stacies aren't rude, the techs are good dudes. The name of the game is ticket in ticket out. Lots of different technologies though. For me it can be as simple as "I need my password reset" or "my account is locked out" or getting dragged into configuring networks from the ground up or troubleshooting VPN connectivity or being the first person to investigate a security breach. Emphasis on customer service and calling frequently, but I haven't been yelled at yet. It's kind of just a shit show to be honest. I learned a fuckload but 95% of the time I feel like it's a joke that I ended up here. Coming up on 6 months and I like it, and I'd stay if they payed me even 10 dollars an hour more. If you're good and not a greasy lardass they'll send you out on site a fair bit too which means mileage. If your car is a shitbox you can make a fair bit there.

I would be careful because I've heard nightmare stories about other MSPs that treat you like cattle and chew you up with no room to touch complicated shit or advance.

Even Amazon and Microsoft has top security clearance tech jobs. Military is the most common route to meet that requirement and those are the jobs I'm referring to.

Keep in mind that a top secret clearance is valued much more highly than a secret clearance, the job I'd be doing would guarantee me top secret.

Also, that anon's clearance being expired was the issue, not that it didn't count.

you can but take it from me who did exactly that: it's very slow to get anything done for you that has high Return On Resume, and often the things that *look* high RoR are not so in the real world.

and as for the clearance thing that was me and honestly I used to think the same and apply to jobs in confidence that it was a genuine help; I have been informed by a place I got a start date that this is not the case and they do not have access to the same systems the military does, so the paperwork has to be redone. it should progress faster (after all if you have an active clearance why would you get denied in re-applying) but it's a pain in the ass and not necessarily free (since there may have been Developments of Sorts since you got that clearance and have to reapply/renew, at the very least costing you valuable time)

that said if you're dead set on le spess forerc memery, who knows, you might just find a long and fulfilling career there and not even need to use it to scam lockheed or northrup later. personally, if my job offer falls through i was thinking of taking some time to remuster to cyber nonsense in my own cunt due to similar new developments in our trade structure

Some of new stakeholders are insanely pushy and I don't want to deal with them anymore but if I mention this, it'll sound like I'm avoiding responsibility. I mean I am but fuck me I don't want the business to dictate shit for me and they're always out of line.

Not him but damn I want money. But then again I spent like 60% of my money on useless shit to get me motivated and moving to go to work. I'd rather save the money and learn and do shit. But it does give me a meaning to work in life I guess even if I dread almost every minute of it.

This. Iteration and soft skills = success. Iteration will level up your work quality. Soft skills will get you money. All you need is one connection to a money source, ie a successful business owner boomer who needs a tech autist. This connection is often made indirect, for example you could work a entry level job doing something else that gets you in contact with the type that would need the skills you want to offer. Or volunteering or writing open source code to get contacts.

Worked 8 years in IT. Went up from Service Desk, to 2nd Line to Sysadmin.

Quit for a year, now I'm learning how to weld while already getting paid by a company. Learn a trade. Working in a factory is the best shit ever, you get physical exercise every day, zero roasties looking over your shoulder, building shit gives a feeling of satisfaction, every boomer wants to teach you and hire you immediately.

Best decision of my life desu

I'm not sure this is a good idea but I tell them "the scope of my job is narrow and I feel like I'm stuck, and not learning anything new".

>I have a restructure in my company and it's completely thrown things completely bonkers as power politics is causing shit to spiral out of control without any direction
just be honest and tell them that maybe? though that would show some kind of weakness or something, I guess.

Yeah, that's the problem. I assume that wouldn't be a great answer when they'll probably be like "welp sucks, should've worked harder or had more control".

Even worse when they ask me what type of workplace the new area is and I'm looking for something more heavily structured but it's going to sound more like I'm not a self starter or don't want to take responsibility but it's more I cannot take these motherfucking vague requests and flaky stakeholders who leave me with the bags on these garbage ass requests. My work has become significantly less "Can I do it?" and more "Should I even do this?" and I don't like this. This sucks.

you can skip it if you are confident you won't need it for the exam. If you are advanced, you calculate the weight of subject or question types on old exams, make an average over the last few exams, and use that to determine what order to study shit, and whether to drop a topic that takes a lot of time to learn vs the % of the exam it takes

never. I have already forgotten 90% of the math I have done. I might have to dig up some of it for some courses I have coming up, but employably speaking, i would have been better off following indian java tutorials

Before I could hide it in meetings, but this stakeholder is such a "I'm too busy for this, you take care of it" to almost everything she asked us and then she's always like "leadership has eyes on this", oh "no this isn't what I wanted" (despite never giving formal requirements or even requirements at all in what she's asking). I'm using my best guess here but they're both constantly complaining. If she has a request from the business she'll just forward it over to us and throw us in the fire. I'm honestly really losing my fucking cool over the way she does things. It's not cool at all.

Is an unpaid internship ever worth it bros?

I feel like I'm getting exploited at my current one. Weekly commitments, two team syncs, weekly meetings (like about 3, 3 at different days while onboarding, each about an hour). I will be expected to work on some tasks for some project soon. It's a startup and they do not offer structured training for the tasks we will be working on. Many (if not all) of my supposed coworkers including members who are about finish their internships are not paid and currently still looking for a job. From my understanding, such a thing is not legal, because the moment I start working on tasks, I'm providing value to the company, and I'm no longer getting trained, which shouldn't be legal? I also see that they require projects down the line. What do you guys think, is this legal? I'll stick around until I find something, but this seems very shady to me.
