2. set power usage of vid card to 90% but it seems to hit 104% sometimes
3. Power settings revert on reboot to balanced not sure if that matters.

I used a $400 27" IPS monitor (2560 x 1440) for about 5 years, and I thought it was fine. Last year I bought an OLED (3440 x 1440) for about $800 and it's made a lot of games more enjoyable. I have a decently powerful PC and didn't really know what it could do before I hooked up the new monitor. Not going to shill OLED specifically because it's far from perfect, but you can consider the monitor another "bottleneck" in the setup to some degree. I'd compare it to tire selection on a performance vehicle maybe?

How can I see "clipping" on HDR?
Let me explain:
I have a QD-OLED monitor with the usual True Black 400 and Peak 1000 nits modes, aggressive ABL, I think you guys heard this before.
I can set a color profile for Peak 1000 nits that has a brightness boost of whichever percentage I set on it. That seems to at least make it look brighter, but people argue that's worse because there's clipping. Maybe I'm blind, what the fuck am I supposed to look at to see this problem?

Basically with a brightness boost of something like 5% the screen apparently clips at 684 nits while if I don't use the boost, it will still show something at 897 nits.

Is there an actual science behind capping 3fps below the refresh rate for gsync to work well or is it just a random number thrown there? Or is it dependent on the monitor itself being able to handle it?
I have a 360hz monitor and I'll be honest, I don't think I ever play anything that reaches those FPS except old games. I have a 4070 super and except for multiplayer games I don't play such as marvel rivals I don't think I get 200fps on almost anything (well, maybe I can get games like Falcom garbage to play at higher framerates but that's about it). If something, I'll be using 360hz sometimes with RetroArch and that CRT simulation bullshit, which doesn't work well with FPS caps.

I have gone through one Logitech M170 roughly 12-16 months, but lately it's gotten to be like ~13 since these mice started putting out double-clicks when i only input single-click.
My current mouse also has a screwy mouse wheel that makes scrolling and zooming in and out of games and maps a crappy experience, holy shit.
Recommend me a new mouse, I don't want to deal with getting ripped off by the Logitech M170 anymore.

Optical switches help to prevent double clicking, for jumping and scroll wheel issues you usually want an optical encoder. TOO BAD there aren't many mice that have both especially while being cheap. Based on some reddit list supposedly the Cooler Master MM720 and 730 have both and they shouldn't be that expensive but I havent used them myself so take it with a grain of salt.

It's about pacing the GPU's render load, where it's never at 100% utilization (completely bottlenecked).
Larger FPS caps are advised to account for sudden spikes.
Just turn on Reflex in supported games.
Supposed FPS cap formula for reflex is

I was one of the people that had pic related happen to me. I paid around 3000 after tax for my 5090 two weeks after launch and discovered I was one of the unlucky people not long after. It took until today for my replacement card to get here. Fuck njudea and fuck all the shills that said these issues were no big deal. I paid thousands of dollars and had to wait months to get a fully functioning card. I think Im going to throw my 5090 in the trash two years from now and get the UDNA Flagship purely out of spite, definetly never buying nvidia again.

I've seen that for non-reflex supported games, one solution people suggest is to use RTSS to cap FPS with that formula (in my case it'd be 328fps, although I've seen people suggest 327), use nvidia reflex as a limiter in the settings and set "Inject NVIDIA Reflex call" to "after frame presentation" to have really low latency.

Slotted in this big ass 5090, but it's not 'in' all the way to screw into the case. Am I not forcing this bitch down enough cause my 3080 in and out is super easy in comparison.

14400F and 14600K don't boost high enough at stock settings to get anywhere near degradation risk.
It affects chips that could potentially boost above 1.5V @ stock settings.
